| Swimming |
There's nothing quite like swimming for leaving you totally invigorated. It's probably one of the best possible full-body workouts available!
Swimming strengthens and builds long, lean muscle. Also, since you're supported by water, there's no risk of injury. The water works as a resistance mechanism for both your muscles and your lungs - it takes more offort to expel air underwater so swimming strengthens your lungs.
If you want to focus on your chest, use the breast stroke. To tone up the buttocks, grab a kick board and only use your legs to propel you. Make sure you keep your legs straight so that you're only using your buttocks and kick hard. For a lean, muscular back alternate between free-style, backstroke and butterfly. To get the maximum possible benefit, alternate your stroke every 10 laps. If you want to turn your swim into a training session, try swimming a certain amount of lengths while timing yourself. Each week, try to swim an extra length, staying within your original time limit.
