| CHAPTER 5 After Katie got her stitches and everything was taken care of Justin offered to take her to Chuck E Cheeses. He obviously felt really bad so Jenna agreed to go. "I'm sorry," Justin said as they were eating their pizzas. Audrey and Derek had joined them and now they had taken Katie to play some games. Katie had almost forgotten about the events of the day. She was just upset her mother wouldn't let her play in the jungle gym. "Justin, don't worry about it," Jenna said, "She's okay." "Yeah but now she has a permanent scar and it's all my fault," Justin said. "Were you watching her?" Jenna said. Justin shook his head yes, "Then it's not your fault. This will just be a story she could tell to her friends later in life," Jenna said, "And look she's already forgotten about it so you can too okay?" "I was so scared though. Now I know what it was like for my mother every time I would climb on something," Justin said. "Welcome to parenthood," Jenna said without thinking. They hadn't mentioned anything about the subject of him being Katie's father. "Well even though there are days like this I think I could get use to the idea. Another subject, have you talked to JC since last week?" Justin asked. It caught Jenna off guard. This was the first time they had even mentioned his name. "No," Jenna said, "I called him but the machine picked up. I left a message but he hasn't called back." "Yeah I've tried to call him too," Justin said, "I think he's avoiding both of us. And the worst part is that we have to start the next album tomorrow." "Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Good luck," Jenna said. "Yeah, It wouldn't be so bad except we usually disagree while recording but I have a feeling that it's going to be ten times worse," Justin said, "Maybe Katie and you could come along." "No, I don't think that would be a good idea. If he wanted to talk to me then he would have called," Jenna said. "Yeah I guess," Justin said, "I just wish we could work this out." "Yeah me too," Jenna said as she turned to Katie who was running up to them, her hands full of tickets. At the end of the night Justin put Katie to bed then went to join Jenna in the Kitchen. "Besides today, I've had a lot of fun hanging out with you and Katie." "Yeah it has been a lot of fun," Jenna said. "I wish we didn't have to start work again tomorrow," Justin said. "What about all your fans who are dying for a new album?" Jenna asked. "Yeah like you," Justin joked. "Yes like me," Jenna replied with a little laugh. "I just wish I could see Katie all the time," Justin said. Jenna didn't say anything. She hated this situation. They sat there for a moment just staring at each other before Justin leaned in to kiss her. It was soft and sweet. Then they pulled away. "I'm sorry. I don't know what got into me," Justin said, "maybe I should go." Jenna just shook her head. Justin walked himself out as Audrey appeared in the doorway. "You have a way of making life much more confusing," Audrey said as she got a glass of water. Jenna turned to look at Audrey, "What do I do now?" CHAPTER 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 |
