| CHAPTER 4 It was the Monday after the party. Jenna and Katie were staying at Audrey's house. She had only been to JC's house the day of the party to get some clothes. JC wasn't even there, and they hadn't spoken since the party. Actually she hadn't spoken to anyone except Katie, Audrey, Derek, and Josh. Audrey kept telling her to call him and patch things up. But he left her so he has to call. Still she really missed him. Sometimes Katie would wake up in the middle of the night crying for him. And the worst thing was that she caused it all. The doorbell rang snapping her out of her thoughts. She didn't know who it could be but every fiber in her body wished that it was JC. She was the only one home because Audrey had taken Katie to the zoo to take her mind off JC and Derek was at work. As she opened the door she was surprised to find out who was on the other side. "Hi," was all the person said. "Justin what are you doing here?" Jenna said. "I was hoping we could talk," Justin said. "Okay," Jenna said slowly as she moved out of the way for Justin to enter. "I've been thinking a lot these last few days. I don't know which is worse. The fact that you didn't tell me about Katie or the fact that you felt that you couldn't tell me," Justin said. "I'm sorry I know I should have told you," Jenna said as they sat down on the couch, which at the moment was her bed. "Yeah well I'm sorry to. But I want to make it right. I want to be involved in Katie's life. I want her to call me Daddy. I want to be there for her," Justin said. "Okay. So what do we do now?" Jenna asked. "Are you doing anything tomorrow?" Justin asked. "No, not at the moment," Jenna replied. "Okay then we'll do something tomorrow," Justin said, "I'll call you tomorrow morning." "Okay," Jenna said as she watched Justin walk out. She had hoped the doorbell was her fianc instead it was his best friend. The next Monday Justin had taken Katie to the park. Justin had spent everyday with Jenna and Katie. Jenna decided that today she would just give Justin and Katie some time. She was surprised on how quickly he and Katie had bonded. Then again they always had had a special relationship. "Are you going to take it or are we going to sit here all day?" Audrey asked snapping her back into reality, "Some of us have to go back to work." They were sitting in the bathroom. Jenna was a week late and when she told Audrey they immediately bought a test and now all she had to do was wait for the result. When she looked down at the test familiar thoughts ran through her head. She was pregnant again. Even though this time it was with someone she loved, they weren't even talking. "Are you going to tell him?" Audrey asked. "No," Jenna said still in a little shock. She had suspected for awhile but now it was real. "What is it with you not telling guys?" Audrey said, "Didn't we learn once that not telling them is worse then telling." "Well how am I supposed to tell him when he doesn't return my calls?" Jenna said turning to look at Audrey. "I don't know but I'm not going to let you keep this quiet. You belong with JC and maybe this is how it can happen," Audrey said. "But I don't want it to happen like that. I want to reunite without a reason besides love. If I tell him first then it will be about the baby," Jenna said. "Quit making excuses and tell him," Audrey said. Then as she walked out of the bathroom she said, "I have to get back to work. Tell him!" Jenna looked back at the test. Audrey was right. She had to tell him before things ended like they did the last time. A few minutes after Audrey left the phone rang. Jenna picked it up to find a panicked Justin on the other line, "Jenna, its Justin. Listen don't get alarmed but Katie fell off the monkey bars. We're down at St. Luke's hospital." Jenna hung up the phone without saying goodbye and practically flew to the hospital. Justin and Katie were in a room with only a curtain. "Are you okay?" Jenna asked hugging Katie. She could see the tear stained cheeks. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Justin said. Jenna saw the blood rushing out of the gauze that was on her chin. "And you must be the mother," someone who was obviously the doctor said as he entered the room, "I'm Dr. Jones. I'm the emergency room physician. Your daughter has a cut under her chin. She's going to need stitches but that's it. We're lucky nothing was broken." Jenna then noticed the nurse who was trying to get Katie ready for stitches. "If you would just step outside," Dr. Jones said. "No, I'm not leaving my daughter," Jenna said. "Okay that's fine. Now Katie we need you to be strong," Dr. Jones said as the nurse gave Katie local anesthetic. Jenna saw the tears about to come down Katie's face, "Be strong for mommy, be strong." Justin just stood in the corner obviously still shook up. CHAPTER 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 |
