Known Powers: Ruse has just discovered his mutant ability to change the physical and chemical properties of objects. His powers manifested themselves during one of his alcoholic father's many beatings. He has just begun to control this ability and views it as a game, not yet knowing the responsibility and gravity that accompanies them. His appearance, the green streaks in his hair and on his body, are signs of his mutation that appeared during their manifestation. History: Jacob Marley was born into an unhappy family. His mother was a manic depressant, withdrawn and beaten by his alcoholic father. He often used humor to cover up his unhappiness. His whole life changed on the fateful day that his father lost his job. He drank and started beating up on Jacob until Jacob felt a spark within him and the next think they knew, his father's hand had begun to boil. Jacob looked fearful knowing that he was the cause. That night was the one that he left his home. He didn't know where to go but he knew he had to get away. An answer to that question, where was he to go, came a couple of days later when he literally ran into a man and woman; Cell and Kismet. They offered him a place on their team, an education, a home, a chance to control his powers and more importantly a family. He instantly agreed and stole away with them to Guardians HQ. After he became comfortable with his teammates he became known for pulling pranks. In a discussion with Genesis, the older man commented that Jacob liked a good Ruse, and Jacob decided that he would adapt that, Ruse, as his codename. He views the team as a family. He looks up Cell like a father, Kismet he thinks of as his second mother, Genesis and Renegade he views as the brothers he never had. Ace would appear to be like a sister to him if he wasn't afraid of her; and he would like to see Serenity as he girlfriend but also sees sister like qualities in her. |
