This project gives me an opportunity to do a lot of information
collection. During this period, I can learn a lot about how to evaluate and
justify the correctness and usefulness of one piece of information and data.
And it is very important during doing a research, especially while we are
collecting data trough the Internet. Since there are thousands of
information put on the web, the information collected could be wrong if one
did not check on it carefully.
Through this
project, I can also find that my understanding over the industrial issues in
Hong Kong has been improved a lot. It's because I have spend the whole
second semester working on this issue.

Throughout this course, I have learnt to use various of computer
software especially ArcMap which will be useful for my future since I would
like to take Geography as my major next year. Apart from computer
applications, I have also known more about the employment structures of
different sectors in Hong Kong districts. As this is the first time for me
to deal with a lot of data, I found it difficult to evaluate the usefulness
of them at the beginning, but now it is much better.
As other courses
requires handing in a term essay while this course requires a website, I
found it interesting to create an academic website. On one side I have to
put the data in a presentable and interesting manner, on the other side I
have to remember that this is not a personal homepage which allows me to put
the information in a funky style. Besides, using Frontpage Express is not as
easy as I thought and now i have learnt to deal with the problems. Anyway, I
have benefited a lot from the course.

After finishing this
Geog 1015 course, I found that I had a deeper understanding towards the
distribution of people employed in different industries in Hong Kong. I can
also notice the changes of different sectors in recent years. For instance,
as the airport is built in Chak Lap Kok on the Lantau Island, Islands
district thus became one of the districts that have the highest percentage
of people engaged in transportation, storage and communication. Furthermore,
I discovered that searching information about the employment of different
sectors on the Internet is not a easy task due to the excess information on
the web and thus much time have spent in citing the useful information for
the assignments.

This course is valuable, I learn how to analyst a huge amount of source data, then to
rearrange and convert them into presentative figures. The industrial era will end, and the era
of information has just begun, there is the trend of using computers in data analysis. Since
the computer application in geographical information is the aim of this course, it introduces
the practical computer skills in geographical aspect. I may say that a student who would like
to study Geography as a major, he/she should take this course.
This webpage is the final assignment of the course. All the team members have tried their best,
I'm glad to work with them. And I would like to say THANK YOU to Cynthia. She organises the

This
course can let me know more about computer knowledge, actually some
programmes which I seldom use, with the assignments of this course, I have
chance to use it and acquire more skills about how to use those programmes.
Besides, I think I get more chances to look for information on internet
though this course, learn how to look for some useful books, websites and so
on. Regarding this project, it really provides a chance for me to make a
webpage by myself, before I have no idea on making webpage, through this
project , I can learn the basic knowledge of webpage making.

This
course has enabled me to acquire the practical knowledge of how to use some
particular software to draw charts, graphs, and diagrams. I have also
acquired the skill of making a website by doing this final project. Not to
say that I encounter with how to select the most relevant materials I need
on the internet. These skills are useful for my future studies, especially
on how to present my research results on Geography, as well as other
subjects.
Moreover, as we have been using the same set of data and concentrate on
doing research on employment distribution throughout the whole course, my
understanding on employment structure in different district in these few
years has been deepened. It has given me a time for practically using
computational systems to do Geography researches.
