A powerful and simple weapon in the fight against surveillance

Since 9-11, the FBI has been given unprecedented power to covertly watch and gather information about American citizens... people with no ties to terrorism at all. The government can now check up on anyone they want to using commercial databases, including records kept by your ISP, to see what you have been up to.

Scariest of all, they don't need a warrant or even probable cause to do so... if you don't think they will abuse this power to harrass people with unpopular beliefs, you need a history lesson.

The implications of this are enormous. We can no longer call America "the home of the free" and feel confident that we deserve the name. There is a saying that liberty is lost by the inch... well legislation since 9-11, such as the USA PATRIOT Act, have taken miles of it from us, and worst of all nobody seems to care. This country is undeniably on the brink of it's darkest days.

If you are a political dissident, any type of activist, belong to an unpopular religion or have other unpopular ideas, chances are the FBI will be collecting information on you "just in case." Movies you rent, books you buy, medical records, school records, telephones bills, ad infinitum are now available to any agent for any reason. Checks and balances are a thing of the past, thanks to an overreactive administration.

If you use the internet regularly, it goes without saying that one of the most revealing records they could possibly get about you would be a list of all the websites you have visited, something your ISP undoubtedly records.

Do you really want that information available to people who are working their hardest to take away your freedom? Even if you have nothing to hide, are you still comfortable with such an invasion of privacy?

Most Americans don't care. That's exactly why there hasn't been much outcry about the recent attacks against our civil liberties. But you aren't the ordinary citizen, are you?

If not, read on...
