I also met and encountered some persons who onced live in country side and want to go out the city life but still reluctant to go back to their own place as they still looks back the old settings during the last time they were around with frustrations. If they don't like their place but do not want to migrate to other country, but already feed up the kind of life in the city. My advice is first try to visit the places of your grandparents, parents, husband or wife and friends. |

| Sometimes It's ironic that some people who hails from the countryside are reluctant to go back to their birth place despite of many changes and developments build in many provinces today. A clear observation from the present social environment in the countrylife today compare to city life is helpful. One does not need to have a doctorate or degree in order to see the potentials in living in country side for the next decades. A clear objectives, simple visit and realistic observations may be helpful to those who want to settle or live in country side. It's some kind of socio-economic and cultural phenomenon that countryside is not a favorite place to leave among the lower class of filipinos who are struggling from poverty and social status quo especially during the older days from 1950's 60's to 70's.. People at that time cannot be blame. Many persons specially in poorer sectors were prompted to go in the city. Most migrants from the undeveloped provinces attracted the life in the city. Since some provinces has nothing to offer to improve their living. The government neglected the provinces in term of basic services like education, electricity, communications and infrastracture. The central goverment was concentrating in the prime capital of Manila. Some of them even sold their property or a piece of land that they may inherited from their forefathers and choose to live in congested or slum area in the city. The migration to the city has somehow brought some economic improvement to others but some ended in more miserable life. When I was in the city and talking about transfering to country side, my friends and some relatives of mine reacted negatively about my plan. Even from the people whom I knew who once lived and raised in country side themselves. Bach of individuals has commonly talking and discussing about changes of different things in life but only few came up into substance. Some are dreaming to leave at country side but only few had succeded to make their dream came true. The rest were just a bubble discussion. Some individuals had complained the problems of living in the city but remained indecisive to step forward to make a clear changes. Some used to live the changes that only exist in their own mind. I discovered from others that some of the negative perceptions and some problems that conceived by some people that hold their back not to move or live in country side despite of continuing pressures of cost of living, congestions, polluted air and crimes are mainly attributed by misinformations and outdated observations. Some persons I met in the city especially those who never gone in countryside still think and visualized the country side during the era of Jose Rizal or Rogelio De La Rosa, that most houses used a gas lamp (lampara), most houses are nipa huts and the people are less educated and poor. I do not know in other places but in my observation, during my several visits in other provinces some in Luzon & Visayas like Leyte, Biliran, Bohol and several towns in Cebu I noticed the progress and developments are quite visible. Services like telecomunication, Internet Cafes, Hotels, Restaurants, transportations and other basic services are in towns. Not to mention the prices of foods, house rentals are inexpensive or even constructing houses are less expensive compare from big cities. |
