Update Archive

Or call it a Blog, if that makes you feel more comfortable. In any case, I'm going to put former bits of information on here. So feel free to browse, a word which here means, "Stare at these other updates from ages ago that I hope people have already read."

6 July 2004 Update:Still happily single. Yay for me! We're moving to another city. Actually, we've already moved. We're just in interim housing until the people we're buying our new house from move out. It's actually pretty great. I also have an account at elfwood now! I've only got four pictures up, but when I get access to a scanner again, I'll get some more stuff for your viewing pleasure. Also, another soapbox article added today. Enjoy!

25 May 2004 Update: I have discovered Warcraft III! I'm on the orc campaign now. Two more articles added to the Soapbox. New page up: Things I have learned in college. I'm going to New Brunfels to see a the wedding of an old friend. I haven't seen her in about four years, and I'm kind of nervous. At least I don't have frizzy Hermione hair any more! But anyway, enjoy.

6 May 2004 Update: About a week ago I saw a modern dance performance. It was really beautiful. The human body is a very remarkable thing. I couldn't possibly do some of the things those guys did - they made it look so easy! While dance was originally a social thing, it is a noble and beautiful fine art as well. In other news, I've created quite a splash in my current hometown because I did the evil thing of breaking off an engagement - unthinkable! Better ex-fiance than ex-husband, I say. Also, My current ROTK count is seven. And soon it will come out on DVD! MUHAHAHA!

15 April Update: My University totally won at nationals! Best delegation, plus a good portion of total awards. Not too bad for the first time. Djibouti Power! Finals week starts tomorrow. I've written some more noythaeglrin poetry: "Benethe Grythemethe nin, hysrach! nathlith ra dhathonethe nin!" Trans: "I am a noble warrior, she cries. Don't think that I am weak!"

25 March Update: I am inventing a new language. I call it "Noythaeglrin." It's a mix between Arabic, elvish, and latin but most of it has come out of my brain. Here's a little soundbyte: .
What can I say? I'm a woman of many talents. The Arabic got tweaked, and some stuff added. Tonight is also my first real date in about six months. That should be fun.

11 March Update: I have decided to concede to those who didn't like my previous colors. I figured if such a little thing was keeping The Masses from the Joy that is My Website, I should find other colors. I liked the other ones better, and now i'll have to change the color of everything so I hope you're happy. I will change the colors of each individual page as I update it, so you will be able to tell how often I update this thing. Also, I added another entry to the soapbox page about my Model Arab League Experiences. PLUS, I've seen ROTK SIX times. My roommate says I need to get a boyfriend. I say she needs to see the movie. Which one of us is right?

2 March Update: Nothing is new on the site, but I thought I'd share bits of my personal life with those who are interested. There have been accusations that the colors of this website are difficult to read. I happen to disagree, which was why I chose these colors in the first place. And it's "Dark Sea Green" NOT teal, thank you. I officially got accepted into the Alexandria study abroad program - no surprise there. Let's see how Egypt copes with my arrival! I also just got back from a weekend in Denver for the Model Arab League. Djibouti got best delegation! I also learned to hate the delegation from the UAE. It wasn't just business - it was personal.

20 February Update: Due to popular demand (from my mom) I posted a clip of me singing my Arabic traslation of "Into the West." You can either see it on my Arabic webpage or you can do directly to it here. I am very proud of it, myself. We also have an Update Archive for those who are interested. Additionally, I have been urged to retract my earlier statement swearing off dating. When I said that, what I really meant was, "No one has asked me out, and until they do I don't feel like asking anyone else out, either." And by that I also mean, "Whatever, man, I'm totally going to Alexandria!"

15 February Update: I added another edition to the Soapbox page. This one is a bit more contraversial, but something I feel very passionately about. I also tweaked the about me page, which includes a nice little ditty about where I am from. In other news, I went to a lebanese restaurant last night. I had a shawerma sandwich. Yum! I would also like to announce that I really like it when people sign my guestbook. They should do it now, and often.

8 February Update: I have added a new feature to the website. It's called "The Soapbox". It has my violently radical opinions about chocolate cake in it. You should check it out. In other news (for those of you who care to know) I have decided not to date at all this semester because I'm leaving for Egypt in September anyway, but I have gone out to several really cool restaurants with people from my apartment complex the past three weeks. Indian and Thai and Persian food are all really really great (ma akbarha!). Since I'm telling people my news, I think I'll also mention that I'm going to Washington DC in April, representing Djibouti for the Model Arab League. I've also now seen Return of the King FIVE times.

12 January 2004 Update: As of last saturday, I have seen Return of the King (3udat al-Malik) four times. And it's good every time! Who wants to come with me for the fifth time? Any takers? Nothing else new on the site, but I thought I'd mention the fact that it's a really great movie.

28 December Update: Yesterday I celebrated my very merry un-wedding by going out to dinner with me mum an' dad. (I won't tell you what I had, but I will tell you that it was very delicious and exotic) I tweaked a lot of the wording on my Eowyn page since seeing Return of the King. Fantastic movie.
editor's note: I had lobster that night. It was great. The lobster did not die in vain by any means.
