Learn Arabic!

I have been studying the Arabic language since I moved to Kuwait when I was fifteen. I don't consider myself fluent, but I think I'm getting pretty darn good at it. I think it is very important for all of us to be well versed in other languages, especially in this day and age, and even more especially with current events as they are. The purpose of this part of my website is to arouse public awareness concerning the Arabic language. Plus, I just like to show off.

NEW! I translated the song "Into the West" by Annie Lennox into Arabic. I have for you here a 20 second clip of me singing it. Listen

Not-so-useful phrases:

Ana uhib an akel attufah.
3ndi rugham rughamiyya.
3fwan, wa lakin 3ndak samak azraq kabiir fii anfak.
Moses 1:39

The "3" is the only way I can think of to represent the arabic letter, "Ein." It's one of my favorites, but it's hard to Americans to pronounce. Just make a sort of gagging noise and you'll get the idea.

You have just said, in order:
I like to eat apples.
I have tracheal mucus.
Excuse me, but you have a big blue fish in your nose.
If you follow that link to the last one you'll see what you just said.

I really like that last one. I have it memorized.

Due to many requests (one...) we will soon (as in perhaps before the Second Coming) have an arabic translation of Dr. Seuss: Samak, Samakain, Samak Ahmar, Samak Azraq. More to come, eventually! Keep coming back here to see!

Get me out of here!
