Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask about

Kuwait

Eight years of my life have been spent in the Middle East, but I only remember the last two in Kuwait. When I was really little I lived in Saudi Arabia, but I don't remember that very well. Just bits and peices. Incidentally, Saudi Arabia Is way way cool, too. My family left before the Gulf War. Then, when I was fifteen (more specifically, one month before my sixteenth birthday. So much for dating.) My family movied to Kuwait.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of pictures of Kuwait at the moment, so this page will mostly be me talking. If you would not like to hear me talking, you may go back home or you can learn some arabic. Actually, most of these pages are me talking...

But anyways, at first, I was extremely Anti-Kuwait. This period (what I like to call the "Grey Period") spawned the following quotes-of-the-day, which are pretty self explanatory:
I hate Kuwait/ 'cuz there's no one to date.
life is like a webpage that refuses to load.
Back, foul dimmerlaik, or I shall smite thee with yon spatula!
Life is like a box of chocolates. When you think you've got a cherry bon-bon it turns out to be something gross.
AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

But it actually gets to grow on you. The vast deserts, camels, sheep, the rolling ocean, the Kuwait Towers that don't really serve much of a purpose...Oh, and the pipelines. Ahhh...memories.

I found a picture of the Kuwait beach online. It's not the beach by my house, but it looks very much like it. Some people say they like long walks on the beach as a joke...but it's really true for me! I love long walks on the beach, unless a tanker is in port, then all this gross stuff gets washed up, like...actually I shoudln't say because some of you might be eating. But anways, It sums up why Kuwait is a great place:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Kuwait... isn't that like, in Texas?
A: You'd think, but no. Kuwait is located on the Persian Gulf (or the Arabian Gulf, as they say over there) and is a little south of Iraq and a little north of Saudi Arabia.

Q: Did you have to wear that black thing all the time?
A: The "black thing" is known as an abiya, and I have never *had* to wear it in my life. Some Kuwaiti women wear it, but it's mostly as Saudi thing. Do I own an abiya? Yes. In fact, I have four, and I love them. I even wear them out in public on non-halloween days. I don't wear the part that covers up the face, though. Just the cloak part.

Q: Was it scary over there?
A: Not really, no. There have been a few times where I had to pull the curtains on the bus so that the terrorists (if any) woudln't know that blonde Americans were on their way to school, but that's about it. OH, and we had a few storms that produced 20-foot waves. That was kinda scary.

Q: Did you ever date Kuwaiti guys?
A: Beleive it or not, I get this question a lot. Kuwaiti guys are very romantic, but I never really had much in common with them. Plus, they never asked me out, so I guess the answer is no. I dated a Canadian guy for a while when I was over there, though. Does that count?
