Dead but not Gone
Chapter One
The rest of the week Justyn continued to work so much that he couldn't get time to talk with the boy again, and when he at home he spent most of his time trying to figure out why he was seeing these things and why he was the one that could speak to the boy. Why could the boy see him but none of the others could, why could the boy not see any of the other workers or the house or shed that was there, these questions kept going threw Justyn's head over and over again. There must be something he has overlooked, or maybe it was something that he had done or was meant to do. Justyn started to wonder if the boy could see him and hear him, could he also touch him, or was he appearing only to the boy in a transparent way. This he would try to confirm soon. Monday he was off due to rain, and on Tuesday the boss called and asked Justyn if he would go over to the site and get the others going since he couldn't make it in. Justyn drove to the site and the other two workers never showed up, and since there was not much one person could do, Justyn decided to find out more from the boy. Justyn seen the boy at the edge of the woods behind the shed. He went towards him and motion for the boy to come to him. They met up just about where they had talked beside the shed before. Justyn leaned back against the shed and and spoke to the boy, telling him that he was alone for a bit and could talk with him. The boy's face lit up as if he had just been given a present. The boy asked Justyn again, what type of Spirit he was. Justyn told him he was a good Spirit. The boy then told Justyn, he knew that but what kind of Spirit was he, for he had never seen any type of skins like the ones Justyn was wearing. Before Justyn could answer, the boy also asked how did he disappear and reappear like he did. Justyn looked at the boy for a second, trying to figure out how to explain his clothing and wondering what the boy meant by disappearing and reappearing. Then it struck him, the boy could not see the vehicles or the structures so therefore when ever Justyn got into the truck he was "invisible" to the boy and when he got out again he could see him. That would explain it, but now how to explain it to the boy was a task greater then Justyn could imagine. Justyn asked the boy if he could see threw him, and the boy said, "No". So Justyn asked the boy if he would like to touch his hand, and as he did he extended his hand towards the boy. They were standing so that the boy was facing the shed, and as the boy touched Justyn's hand, he quickly jumped back and hollered something that Justyn couldn't make out. Justyn asked him if he was alright, the boy pointed to where the shed was and asked him what is the big thing you showed me when I touched you? This meant that when he had touched Justyn he could see all the stuff in Justyn's world. This Justyn thought could be dangerous for the boy, and he quickly explained that the big thing he seen was the structure that Justyn had mentioned before. The boy stood staring at Justyn as if he had seen a ghost instead of a structure. Finally the boy spoke again, " If that is a structure for the Spirits, then why is it here in our camp?". Justyn thought for a while trying to figure a way to explain it without making the boy fearful. Justyn finally told the boy that the structure was actually not in their camp, so to speak, since the camp and the structure were actually in two different times. The boy said he did not understand what Justyn meant by two different times. Justyn asked the boy if he had ever had a vision of things to come? The boy replied that he had visions of things to come several times and it was usally something that happened in a few days. Justyn asked the boy if he could imagine having a vision of something to come in several generations down the line, or in other words several years away. The boy said well it was possible since his grandfather spoke of a time, when his father was a small boy, when they would all be together in one big place and now the whole family was here in this camp. Justyn said that was the way it was now, for the boy was actually seeing a Spirit from a time to come, not one from a time passed. He explained to the boy the best he could that the camp was actually in a previous time to Justyn, and that Justyn was in a coming time to the boy. The boy told Justyn that he could understand this to point, and wondered if Justyn would let him touch his hand again. Justyn asked the boy if he was sure he wanted to, and the boy told him, yes for it will let me see the Spirits view. Justyn held out his again and slowly the boy took it, this time he closed his eyes and opened them real slowly. When his eyes were wide open he slowly turned around and looked towards the house they were building and towards Justyn's car. The boy asked for Justyn to explain what the shiny thing was that was next to the large in ground structure. Justyn told him it was a way of travel similiar to the ponies that the boy rode, but it was like having a structure on it that moved with you. The boy then noticed something, that he had overlooked before and quickly let go of Justyn's hand. He then turned slowly looking in all directions, as a smile came over his face. Justyn asked if he was alright, and the boy told him that he was ok, but while he was touching Justyn's hand he could no longer see his camp or his people. This amazed Justyn and only added to the confusion of why he and the boy could see each other. The boy reached out and touched Justyn's hand again, then turned loose of it quickly, repeating this action four more times before speaking again. The boy told Justyn, that he was sure of it now, that when he touched Justyn he lost sight of his people and their camp, but as quickly as he let go he could once again see them. Justyn asked the boy if his people could still se him while he touched Justyn's hand, and the boy said we shall see. He turned to another boy about 20 feet away and hollered at him. The boy turned towards them and the boy asked him to watch as he had something to show him, then he touched Justyn's hand. The other boy stood with wide open eyes and started yelling, at which time the little boy let go of Justyn's hand and then the other boy ran to him. Justyn heard the second boy asking the first how he could vanish like that and come back, to which the little boy told him that it was because he was a Spirit see-er and that the Spirit helped him do it. The second boy shook his head in disbelief and turned and walked away very quickly. The boy turned to Justyn and told him that when he touched his hand no one could see him and that this must mean he was in the Spirit world when he touched the Spirit's hand. At that time Justyn heard a vehicle, it was the homeowner coming to check on things, he quickly explained to the boy that someone was coming to speak with him and that he would try to talk more later, maybe tomorrow or the next day. The boy said goodbye to him and headed off towards the edge of the woods to a small structure where a fire in front of it was cooking some food. Justyn headed towards his car and was near it when the homeowner came up. Justyn explained that he was the only one that had showed up and that he was just about to go back home, since there was nothing one person could. The homeowner asked if there was nothing to do, why Justyn had not left long ago, as it was almost 2:30 now? Justyn looked at his watch, wow he had been there since 7 am talking to the boy and it was now 2:30 in the afternoon, he had been here 7 and 1/2 hrs and it seemed like only an hour or so. Justyn climbed into his car and headed down the long drive towards the road, the homeowner right behind him.
