Meeting about Replacing the Church held 22 June 1729
Influential citizens held a meeting to consider what to do about the state of the old church attended by John Barrett, Henry Crowther, Daniel Evans, Richard Harding, John Johnson, Thomas Keen, John Phillips, John Purnell, Francis Savage, John Sloper, William Tomkinson, Barnard Wickes, Joseph Wickes, John Wight, Henry Wightwick
The matter went to Parliament who suggested repairs and on 10 Feb 1740 charged Thomas Estcourt, Richard Harding, Joseph Ralph, Charles Savage and William Savage with overseeing the work.
After spending money doing doubtful repairs, the Old Church was demolished and rebuilt to be opened in 1770

John Purnell 16890915 - 17660125, son of Timothy aged 76 and his first wife Mary baptised Timothy 1719 - 17620417 aged 43, Mary 17220215 and John 17301028.
John buried his daughter Mary 17630416 aged 41. The Mary who was buried 14 March 1723/4 is clearly called 'daughter of John Purnell'. Second thoughts suggest she is an adult, and not the Mary baptised 1722.

Joseph Purnel 1685 - 17190612, baptised George 17140105 lived 3 days, buried Child 17140406 and Antipas 17150819 - 17190409 aged 3.
Widow Purnell's lying-in, nurses and midwife cost the Overseers 1-01-06 in 1720. Joseph Purnell buried 12 Jun 1719 seems to be her husband. There is no baptism or burial to suggest the child lived.

Timothy Purnell 16550920 - 17180919, son of Edward married 16801104 to Jean Twien 1657, and she was buried 17331218. Their children are Philip 16810814, Timothy 16830218, Sarah 16850903, John 1689, Anne 16930427
Jean and Elizabeth appear to be Timothy's daughters by a previous marriage, and Jean was her mother's heir.
