Chapter 3 -

Short Summary: Redd is sick, and delerious.

Quote: Sir Neelkan? What drugs did that Yellow put in the kid's drink? Neelkan frowns and moving even closer.

Short Summary: Redd has hallusinations, and Neelkan wakes up and has to explain a few things to Espi and a young friend of the boy's. And then he gets flirted on by an Accepted. Yikes.

Quote: "Far too many hurt today...?" Neelkan asks softly, looking rather concerned. Very concerned in fact. This is one of his friends! With a long sigh he lowers one arm, and slides the other one into his hair. "I... I just... Light. I dunno. Just try not t'... beat yerself up, 'kay?" Sigh. Why is he tempted to hug her. Damn Redd for hugging him when he was upset that one time.

A Dunking

Short Summary: Espiria starts having flashes again, and in an attempt to protect her secret, Neelkan pisses off an Aes Sedai and a Gaidin. Sigh. The poor guy can never win.

Quote: Not standing down for an instant, Neelkan looks about ready to tear into the women verbally, then all of a sudden... Eh? He's hauled up in the air by Michael, grabbing onto his clothes and lifting him a foot up into the air. HEEEEY! "Put m' DOWN ya BLOODY BRUTE!!" he yells at the top of his lungs (which is pretty damn loud), flailing about wildly, his face flushing with anger. "BLOOD 'N ASHES!! Ya don't know WHAT yer dealin' WITH!! Put m' DOWN!!" All this is yelled while flailing and kicking about like a five year old.

Characters: Neelkan, Espiria, Tiau, Kalibar, Denn'ryiel, Mindra, Redd, Michael, Wyntere, Kayne, and Vorsha.

Explainations

Short Summary: Neelkan explains to Denn'ryiel what happened in the above log, and Espiria and him have a talk later on. He wants to know what he risked his neck for!

Quote: "I won't forget 'bout it Espi. 'n I don't care who's involved other 'en the fact 'at -you- are." Neelkan says, reaching a hand out to lightly grip your arm. His voice is firm and almost reaching an commanding tone, which is ruined by the fact that he has that accent of his. His voice is still soft though, so that unless someone was trying to overhear they probably wouldn't. "If it's so dangerous 'n deadly f'r m' t' know, 'en it must be e'en more dangerous f'r ya, 'n like I said 'fore, I'm not gonna sit by 'n let -any- of m' friends be put in danger. Whate'er is goin' on, I'm not gonna let ya go through it alone, 'kay?" Light, he has no idea what he's getting himself into, he just knows it's really bad. And that your scared. But he isn't. He doesn't look scared at all. If anything he looks determined.

Tree Punching

Short Summary: After learning what is going on with Espiria, Neelkan needs a little alone time, only an Aes Sedai has other ideas...

Quote: "Better a tree 'en a person." Neelkan hisses softly, then sits down hard on the ground. "I'm done anyway..." He still is holding tight to his bleeding fist, though it looks like the urge to hit things has passed. Now he gets to sit through the pain part. Pain is so much easier to deal with then thoughts...

Just Friends

Short Summary: Since finding out what was happening with Espiria, Neelkan hasn't seen her yet. Now he does. It's only the next day, and already things have tensed up a little between them. They don't stay that way though.

Quote: "Somehow...I don't think any woman could hope to ever tame that wild part of you, Neel. And I sincerely hope they never do. Perhaps..calm it a bit, but never tame it. You're too much fun just as you are." - Espiria

Memories of the Phague

Short Summary: Redd is getting worse, and one of Espiria's flashes gives the first hint of what it may be.

Quote: Enter the Yellow's must UN-favorite patient. Neelkan stalks into the Infirmary, a scowl on his face and his eyes narrowed in a glare and he stops as the Accepted at the door intercepts him. His voice is as loud as it ever was, but not quite what would be considered a yell from him. When Michael picked him up. That was a yell. This isn't even close. "All m' things were 'posed t' be moved down t' the Trainee area, but one of m' necklaces is missin'! Ya women steal m' earrin's, now m' necklace!" ... "Um, I'm sure it wasn't stolen. It was probably just missplaces..." the young woman says under his glare. "Fine! 'en I'm goin' o'er t' m' bed 'n lookin' f'r it!" StompStompStomp. He storms over towards his bed, grumbling under his breath, cursing the Yellows and women in general as he goes, calling them jewelry thieves!!

Characters: Neelkan, Wyntere, Redd, and Espiria.

Infected

Short Summary: Neelkan finds out he might have the plague Redd's got. Erk. This can't be good...

Quote: Though not as bright as usual, Neelkan's blue-green eyes dart from Varcel to Espi, and he tries to fight the urge to grin. This is not the time to grin. This is a serious conversation. "She's just worried... Turns out I might got whate'er Redd has." When Redd was brought to the infirm someone mentioned Varcel, so he'll assume he knows the boy. But what he said was said so casually, like it was no big deal. Can anyone shrug off the possibility of having a illness that the Yellows don't seem to understand? Well, Neel can at least.

Characters: Neelkan, Espiria, Varcel, Aliana, Sunan, Raeth, and Denn'ryiel.

Cheer in Illness

Short Summary: Yup. He's definately got it. The Wheel hates him... It must. Espiria and Wyntere visit him in the Infirmary, and he's the one trying to keep /their/ spirits up...

Quote: "'ey, don't worry..." Neelkan says, smirking slightly at you, then moving his hand to grab the one that was reaching for the cloth on his face, giving it a small squeeze. "I'll be better 'fore ya know it. Just couldn't let Redd get all the attention..." He chuckles very slightly at the last part, trying to make it a joke. Nope. Nothing is at all wrong here.

The Medicine

Short Summary: They get some medicine. And as Varcel says, "This is worse then being sick!"

Quote: Finally, after a few moments longer of laying there Neelkan pushes himself into a sitting position, grabs the cup and puts it to his mouth, then swings it back and gulps it down like ale. Down in one drink, his face contorts into a grimace and after he has it all swallowed he literally sticks out his tongue and starts to wipe it with his hands as if that'll get rid of the awful taste. His eyes are even watering, but he got it down. Then he blinks, "E'ery four flamin' hours!?" The return of his normal voice, finally, but only for a second before he lays down the glass and eases back, "Well, I'm just gonna pretend it's ale. Tastes about as bad as some low quality ones I've had..."

Determination and Persistance

Short Summary: Neelkan can't take this illness laying down, damnit! Grrr!

Quote: Pushing himself up, Neelkan waves a hand absently at Espiria, "Ye'h, I slept." Wouldn't call it pleasent though... "I think I'll come get it m'self. Can't get better layin' in a flamin' bed. M' legs need movement, here!" His voice is almost back to normal, but he still looks like he is weak and a little feverish, but not half as bad as he was. He slides his legs off the bed and cringes at the Light blinded outfit they got him in, then shakes his head. If it didn't look so much like a flamin' dress.... Grrr. "Someone really gotta speak t' the Yellows 'bout their fashion sense..." he grumbles, then pushes himself until he's standing. Ah hah! Made it.

Stuck

Short Summary: No cure has been found, and Neelkan's grumpy and sarcastic. ... What else is new?

Quote: "Ow. Ow. Ow. Blood 'n ashes... if I gotta spend 'nother flamin' day in this bed..." comes a soft whine from Neelkan as he continues to rub at his poor neck. Looks like someone didn't lay right last night... Then finally he lowers his head with a sigh and looks over at Espi. "I feel like I'm locked in 'ere 'gain. It ain't fair... But I'm not off t' anywhere. I'm just sittin' up... Shesh." He looks away and grumbles under his breath, "Women."

Too Stubborn to Die

Short Summary: After taking a leave of absense, Denn returns.

Quote: "Ye'h... Light... wouldn't do if anyone knew I accepted help from a women, eh?" Neelkan says, eyes actually seeming to gain back a little of their old light for a moment until they return to their glazed over state. "Blood 'n ashes.. It's good t' have ya back though... I was worried." Though it's said tiredly, and almost with a careless tone, it's actually evident that he means it.

Awoken

Short Summary: Neelkan has a bad dream while in the infirmary... Oops.

Quote: Espiria frowns, shaking her head as her eyes fill with worry. She moves closer to Neel, hoping she doesn't get slugged for this, but she just can't stand by and watch him go thru this. She just can't. She grits her teeth and slaps Neel on the side of the face to wake him up. "Neel...snap out of it. Come on...come back to us now." She shakes him just a bit too, hoping it will snap him out of the nightmare he seems to be having. Light..please let him wake up. "Neel! Come on..wake up!" She stands right next to Neel's bed, gripping his shoulders. - Espiria

Piss 'n Blood

Short Summary: Redd starts getting worse, and Neelkan's mouth is corrupting...

Quote: Neelkan coughs once at the voice, able to keep himself from going into fits, then glances towards the source of it. "Oh.. me? ... Just bloody fi..." eh. He can't finish for some reason. "I got a kid layin' on m' 'n I'm sick as ya, though at least better lookin'..." ... That was sort of rude. No... That was Neelkan.

Gateway Dream

Short Summary: Another dream. This time Neelkan can remember it, and tells Espiria about it. And it involves her...

Quote: "Neel....whatever happens. I know you will be the best Warder they have. I know that...you will work hard and probably kick a few behinds along the way. But..never change who you are for anyone. Always be the friend that I care for...okay?" - Espiria

Where's m' flamin' pants!?

Short Summary: Neelkan feels much better, and he really wants some /pants/!! Grrr.

Quote: Stilly rubbing at his hair, Neelkan stretches a few more times and... Light, does he feel better. He tries to call out to one of the Yellows who is scurrying by, "Any chance I could leave 'ere t'day? .......... Come on, Light. 'least round m' up some pants 'r somethin'?" Hellooooooo? Anyone listening? "I feel just fine!" ... Geez.
