05/19/2000 Infirmary, White Tower, Tar Valon Square in shape, this room is most often abuzz with activity. It contains the normal implements of a teaching infirmary, in fact, it is extremely well stocked with all manner of things: cots, jars, bottles, syringes, bandages, cloths, cabinets, shelves, books and tables along with plenty of hot water. The air has that sterile smell associated with the constant use of redwort, tinged with the unpleasant prickle of witchhazel. While most of the Healing is done via the One Power at the Tower, there are many minor medical situations that are dealt with the old fashioned way. There are several areas curtained off, for patients' privacy as well as for instructional usages. This is a teaching infirmary for the Yellow Ajah, after all. Beds in cheerful colors are lined up in neat rows, providing a comfortable place to sleep after a Healer's tender ministrations. Windows are kept wide open to all for light and fresh air. Kaomi enters behind a Yellow, the latter is carrying Redd. Redd is wavering between conciousness and unconciousness. His breathing is hard and he doesn't move to often. He is not in good health. Standing around speaking with one of the Yellows about getting everything set up for him to leave this place (finally!!), Neelkan looks a little frustrated at the woman, glaring every so often. And since he just happens to be facing the door he sees Kaomi enter, followed by a Yellow with... Redd? And the Yellow he was speaking to is forgotten. "Redd??" He quickly moves over towards the Yellow to get a better look at the boy. Kaomi is a quiet presence int he infirmary as they get the child settled into a bed. "He can't talk," Barbara snaps. "He's got a fever." Redd doesn't even move, Neelkan's voice could just have not been sounded. "He's m'friend, ya flamin' woman!" Neelkan yells, trying to get a better look at the boy, concern obvious on his face. "What in the Light happened t' 'im?! Redd?!" Um. Does he sound a little guilty about something? Possibly. He quickly glances an apologetic look at Kaomi for the yelling and the curses. But when he gets worried about a friend... "Yelling will accomplish nothing but waking the other sick folks in the infirmary," Kaomi reminds Neelkan, rather gently. "He has a bad fever. Apparently nobody noticed until he fell off of his horse. He is too weak for a Healing." Meanwhile, Barbara starts laying cool, wet washcloths over the boy's forehead, muttering to herself and ignoring the 'bloody man'. "Iala, help..." These words are mumbled, but that is all he says now. Nothing else changes, breathing is still a struggle, and he moves no more than to breathe. Neelkan jerks away, his eyes tightening slightly and his fists clenching. Right along with his teeth which are bared slightly as his lips roll up in a small growl. It's all his fault. Or that's what he seems to be thinking. He wants to hit something. Iala...? he files the word away in his mental storage units (as small as they may be) and mutters a hissed apology, "Sorry, Kaomi." Yes. He knows she's the Amyrlin now, but... He's a first name kind of person. Kaomi inclines her head. She is not one to really worry about the externals of respect. Respect comes with who you are and what you are, not what people call you. "It is alright. I know you are worried." Barbara thrusts a cup of water at Neelkan. "You want to be useful, child, you can try and get some of this down his throat." Closer inspection reveals there are herbs floating about the water. Raeth slips into the infirmary, heading straight toward the Amyrlin and ignoring just about everyone else. "I talked to Trainee Varcel." he says in a low voice to his ward as he gives Redd a quick glance and a soft shake of his head. Kaomi turns her attention to her bond and murmurs a reply. Looking like he's about ready to slam one of his fists into a wall, Neelkan nods slightly at Kaomi, the skin around his eyes still tight. When the Yellow holds out the cup he has to unclench his fists to take it and move forward to awkwardly try to get the contents of the cup to go down Redd's throat. "Redd?" he speaks again, still hissing slightly through his teeth. Like the Warder ignores everyone else, so does this young man seem to. Raeth lowers his voice until only Kaomi can hear. He doesn't even seem to notice Neeklan at the moment. Christabel comes walking slowly into the Infirmary... her eyes seeking out someone in particular. And finding her even. Redd doesn't even appear to notice that anyone is in the room at all. He remains quiet on the bed, breathing very slowly. The water makes it down, herbs included, without much trouble. Kaomi shoots an irritated look at Redd. Riding backwards, indeed! She nods to Christabel, her tiny foot tap tapping just a little bit. She murmurs this bit of hot off the press info to Barbara, who /grumbles/ angrily and starts bustling about the infirmary. Standing near the bed Redd is laying on in his current state, Neelkan finishes getting the cup the Yellow handed him emptied into Redd's mouth. And afterwards he just... puts the empty cup down somewhere and finds somewhere to lean, and growl softly through his teeth, and glare at nothing. Or everything is probably more accurate. Christabel walks slowly up to Kaomi after curtsying respectfully. When she is right next to her she leans over to wisper in her ear. A moment. The Mother never gets a moment. But she's no healer, and there's nothing more she can do here. She nods to Christabel and glides out. Christabel looks to Neelkan and gives a smile.. before following the Amyrlin out. Raeth press his lips together as if trying to refrain from saying something to the lad. No, not now. That /will/ come later. He turns to one of the yellows. "Will you please notify me when the lad awakes?" The yellow simply nods, "Of course, Gaidin Raeth." Raeth nods his thank you and spins around, leaving the infirmary all the while mummbling something angrily under his breath. Redd remains motionless, breathing still. "Iala..." That name again... Neelkan sighs and moves to lean against the wall, his eyes drifting towards the ceiling... His friend's hurt. He hates that. He feels so useless! But the kid's in the Infirmary... best place for him... After a long pause, he moves over and tucks the kid in tightly, almost in a big brotherly fashion and says, "Yer awful mean f'r doin' 'is t' me! I just got outta 'ere, now I gotta visit ya in 'ere!" Iala again? Hrm ... He leans down a little, "Hey, what's yer name?" It's a long shot, but maybe... Redd doesn't appear to hear Neelkan. However, he continues talking. "Iala... da won't listen." Things from his past? "I'll leave... change my name... I won't be Eridon anymore... OK Iala?" Iala. Da won't listen. Eridon? Neelkan takes a deep breath and just sits there and listens, trying to make sure he can remember all these things later. "I am not going to be a Lord. They are boring..." He suddenly falls silent. For a moment, his breathing stops, just long enough to start someone worrying, then it pick up again, just as it had been before he stopped. A... Lord!? Neelkan immediately straightens up slightly. What the... Then his friend seems to stop breathing and he looks ready to call a Yellow over until it starts back up. He heaves a sign of relief. Redd seems to be breathing again, so the worry is over, but no more words come from Redd. Or is it Eridon? Lord Eridon? Taking a deep breath, Neelkan slowly tucks the boy in again, then moves away to sit down on the bed that used to be his... Used to be... he was leaving today... He looks towards the Yellow he was speaking to earlier, then goes over and asks if he can stay another night to be near his friend... He even calls her Aes Sedai and shows respect and looks as if he would beg if she said no, so she grants it, and he goes back over to sit on his bed again and watch the boy. "What does that mean?" These words sound like the Redd that has lived at the Tower, but he is still in his daze. "What does what mean?" Neelkan asks from his bed, arms resting on his knees as he sits there. Nope, he doesn't mind speaking across a small distance. Redd doesn't respond. He is still in his daze. "I can't tell him. He doesn't like women... who can I tell?" Now this sounds very much like something recent. "I just met her..." Doesn't like women? Huh? Neelkan's head peeks up a little and this time he gets off the bed and moves closer to the kid. He doesn't ask a question, just listens. "Sir Neelkan would tell me don't..." Sir Neelkan? This must be a while ago still... "Kennyth would know..." His words are so weak sounding. Sir Neelkan? What drugs did that Yellow put in the kid's drink? Neelkan frowns and moving even closer. Redd grows silent again. Waiting shows that he will not speak again, for a while at least. Sighing with frustration, Neelkan moves back over to his bed and lays down to look at the ceiling. Or glare at it is more like it.
