05/27/2000 Infirmary, White Tower, Tar Valon Square in shape, this room is most often abuzz with activity. It contains the normal implements of a teaching infirmary, in fact, it is extremely well stocked with all manner of things: cots, jars, bottles, syringes, bandages, cloths, cabinets, shelves, books and tables along with plenty of hot water. The air has that sterile smell associated with the constant use of redwort, tinged with the unpleasant prickle of witchhazel. While most of the Healing is done via the One Power at the Tower, there are many minor medical situations that are dealt with the old fashioned way. There are several areas curtained off, for patients' privacy as well as for instructional usages. This is a teaching infirmary for the Yellow Ajah, after all. Beds in cheerful colors are lined up in neat rows, providing a comfortable place to sleep after a Healer's tender ministrations. Windows are kept wide open to all for light and fresh air. Denn'ryiel mixes in what she judges to be an appropriate dosage into each glass, and puts them all on one tray. She then carries them back to the cots, setting one beside each bed One comment about serving wenches and... Denn'ryiel stops at Redd's bed, and helps the young boy with his glass. Sunan watches teh medicine, and begins trembling. Varcel watches as well, hands behind his head. Denn'ryiel turns to look at the row of trainees as she helps Redd with his glass. "I expect all of you to drink your glasses, by the way. It's for the best." Sunan takes a sip... and gags, recoiling in surprise. Then, he swallows the whole glass, grinning like an idiot. He enjoyed it. "I feel clean." He says with satisfaction. Varcel grimaces as he drinks his. "Burn me! THis is worse than being sick." Not that he puts it down. Denn'ryiel's eyes dart up to Varcel. "I wonder if Espi know you use that kind of language," she says, in a somewhat disapproving voice. But since Varcel's the one suffering, she doesn't put much force into the comment. "That's good, Sunan... because you're going to have to drink a glass every four hours." Sunan snaps at that, "She said every hour until the symptoms ease!" He actually sounds like eh looks forward to that. "And I'd have another one right now, if you let me." Varcel sputters, getting equal amounts of hisn ext sip down his throat and on his chest. Quickly wiping it off, he comments. "Every four hours? I stand by what I said!" Denn'ryiel nods to Sunan. "You're still in first stage, so I think you're safe for awhile. I can give you another glass of juice, but we have to ration the medicine." She glances down and looks at Varcel sympatheticly. "I'm sorry, but I know Espiria has told you the alternative, Varcel." Neelkan just eyes the glass for a while. All the complaints and gaging going up all over isn't making him feel any better about the stuff, you know! He laughs at Denn's comment to Varcel, saying in a cough, "Mine is worse!" But that's it. Finally, after a few moments longer of laying there he pushes himself into a sitting position, grabs the cup and puts it to his mouth, then swings it back and gulps it down like ale. Down in one drink, his face contorts into a grimace and after he has it all swallowed he literally sticks out his tongue and starts to wipe it with his hands as if that'll get rid of the awful taste. His eyes are even watering, but he got it down. Then he blinks, "E'ery flamin' hours!?" The return of his normal voice, finally, but only for a second before he lays down the glass and eases back, "Well, I'm just gonna pretend it's ale. Tastes about as bad as some low quality ones I've had..." Um. Yup. That's been. Sunan nods to Denn'ryiel, "You're right. I'm sorry. I'll wiat 4 hours." Then, wuiter, "However much I want not to." Varcel grimaces at Neelkan, finishinghis drink. "Ale, at least gives you that pleasant warm feeling. This stuff just tastes bad." Denn'ryiel winces at Neelkan's tongue. Its too bad Denn doesn't know of an imminent bondmate for him, so she can chastise him like she did Varcel. "I think you two are at the stage where you'll need glasses every hour," she says to both Neelkan and Varcel. "But hopefully not long." Certainly not as long as Redd. She smiles appriciatively and nods to Sunan. "I a'ready feel warm 'nough right now, thank ya." Neelkan says, closing his eyes a little and relaxing. Every hour, eh? "Well, maybe we'll get used t' it e'entually..." Ye'h. Right. Used to it. Uh-huh. And no imminent bondmate for Neelkan. Like he'd bond to a -woman- anyway. All women are evil. Except the flukes. And all the flukes are taken or unable to bond. So no worry about that! Sunan just watches the situation around him. "I wish Mother Tryci was here. She'd know what to do." Varcel decides he'd better behave if he doesn't want to be dosed every half hour. He quietly sets the glass aside after draining the rest. Denn'ryiel smiles, and goes about changing compresses on a few of the patients, including Neelkan. "I'm afraid so. I'll be stirring the glasses myself," she adds, to make certain they know she takes this seriously. Varcel leans back and closes his eyes, quietly drifting off to sleep. Sunan lies quietly, and lcoses his eyes. Well, everyone else seems to want to go to sleep, Neelkan on the other hand, eases his eyes open again and starts his ruitine of glaring at the ceiling. He will not sleep. He will not sleep. Or he's going to do his best not to sleep. Denn'ryiel also seems to notice everyone drifting off, so she quietly walks over towards Neelkan's cot and takes a seat next to it. "How are you feeling, really?" she asks. Sunan listens quietly to everyone, not sleeping. Denn'ryiel sits quietly, next to Neelkan, trying not to look overtly worried. After all, this medicine is a stopgap measure, at best. Occaisionally she will get up and tend to another patient, but she returns back to the same chair after every time. Neelkan eventually loses his fight to not fall asleep, and drifts away into... well... the usual unpleasent sleep he always has, making a few noises every so often. And they aren't snoring sounds, folks.
