Dry Fork Church 1st Families A brief History of the Founding Families Corrections and additions are welcome Send to [email protected] Please click on the link for the respective family. ************* The history of the families of Dry Fork are steeped in the "old" Baptist traditions as indicated in the early minutes of the church. It is likely that Dry Fork Baptist Church was basically Primitive Baptist in the beginning, due to other information found on David Doyle in Boone County from church histories of Goshen, New Liberty and Salem. {New Liberty voted to favor the new Missionary system in 1842} as did others in the Association. ( "The Primitive or Old School Baptists cling to the doctrines and practices held by Baptist Churches throughout America at the close of the Revolutionary War." http://www.primitivebaptist.org/) The original 1847 record book of Dry Fork Church yielded the names of the founding members and twelve family surnames, with 35 members. The church was organized on Sept 24, 1847; they first met at a schoolhouse in the neighborhood of William Crank. Those attending were ministers . D. Doyle, P. H. Steinberger, and 3 Noah Flood ( Noah's Great-great-great grandson visited our church this year.) and Deacons W. Major, T. Martin, & F. Sappington Al of the information on these families is subject to error and should be used for guidelines only The original family names represented here are Brandon, Branham, Clatterbuck, Crank, Dorton, Dozier, Holt, Hudson, Kiger, Maupin, Moore and Reynolds. The first eleven on the list were from Providence Church, the remainder by baptism. 01.Brandon, Robert from Providence
