Welcome to the Galley
This is the Galley... the place where all the treats and goodies come from and one of my, all time, favorite places to hang out (just in-case Mom drops something).
I'll be sharing the recipes for some of the great things that my mom makes for me. Take my word for it...they are all DELICIOUS!
Maybe you can get your human to make some of these recipes for you...
I have personally tasted and given them all TWO PAWS UP!

To Kibble or not to Kibble, that is the Question...
For me, the answer was easy...I have a food sensitivity to corn and rice...so store bought kibble is out.
I was on IVD venison and potato or IVD duck and potato for a while. I did well on both of them, but urin pH was a bit high, so mom started looking for something better...
The switch to home cooked...
At first we tried the raw diet... Well, I'll tell you, I thought that I died and went to heaven when mom gave me raw chicken for dinner, but, in my delight I forgot to chew the bones. All I can say is, the result  was not a pretty sight (in fact, it was VERY messy).
So, mom started grinding the chicken parts for me in the food processor, bones and all, that way I she didn't have to worry if I chewed the bones or not....I was doing GREAT and all was well in my little  world, until, the little machine just couldn't take the strain any more...
When the food processor gave up the ghost, mom had a choice...buy a grinder and continue to feed a raw diet or switch to a home cooked diet. If she continued to feed a raw diet that ment buying a grinder ($85.00) that would grind the chicken parts, bones and all (I still wouldn't chew the bones)...it also ment cleaning the grinder everyday. Now, cleaning the food processor twice a day was getting to be a real chore and I imagine that a grinder would be harder to clean than a little food processor. Also, balancing a raw diet depends on feeding a wide variety of foods to ensure that all nutrients are included...sooner or later.
Here-in lies the problem...
Now, I don't know about other humans, but my mom is definately a creature of habbit. She has a tendancy to fall into a routine and get stuck there...repeating the same pattern over and over. Now, if including a
wide variety of foods is necessary for the raw diet to meet all nutritional requirments...then having a caretaker that has a tendancy to get stuck in the same ol' routine, over and over, is not likely to accomplish this goal.
On the other hand, when feeding a home cooked diet...one that is prepared in large batches and not likely to have wide variety...it is consistency and attention to detail that are very important...these are things that my mom's really good at.
So, began, the quest to come up with a good home cooked diet. One that would meet all of my nutritional needs and taste great as well.
With the use of the computer and internet, a calculator, a book titled K9 Kitchen by Monica Segal and the help of a wonderful Doctor, from the Ohio State University Nutritional Support Service, by the name of Dr. Anna Hill...mom has come up with the recipes here in the Galley.
I hope that you enjoy them.

Legal stuff (and just plain good advise): Be sure to consult with your vet, a canine nutritionist, your dogs breeder or some other expert before switching your dog to this or any other home cooked diet. Dogs are individuals and not every diet is right for every dog, so check with a qualified expert to be sure that what you are doing is right for your dog.
