Let's face it. At the rate we're going now, our world is screwed. We have liars and manipulators in political office (what else is new?). We have a form of capitalism that has further encouraged greed, corruption, and crime. And we all know what happens when a politician tries to implement socialism. Yes. America deems them unworthy of existence, usually because these socialist leaders turn out to be pricks, twisting the term for their own selfish gain.
And, all the while, the only thing anybody can do is sit here, bitching and moaning. If you're in government, you can call forth armies to slaughter anyone who is different from you, claiming that different equals dangerous. You can erase your own criminal record (::cough::GWB::cough::). You can earn billions upon billions of dollars by submitting to the NRA and Tobacco lobbies. And they do. Those people in the federal goverment are some of the most corrupt in the nation. They make the people of Enron look like sissies.
So what is the solution? Well, we AMERICANS -- we normal people -- need to make ourselves heard. I'm not talking about bombing elementary schools or rioting through the streets of LA. But maybe we could actually try voting. Organize mass mailings to your congressperson. Run for office yourself. The only way to fix a problem is by becoming part of the solution.
Get the corruption out of office. Take responsibility for the place you call your home. Nobody ever said it would be easy, but at least you'll have your say. And, if you get shot down, you'll have done so with a fight.
People have forgotten how to be a true American. So do yourself a favor. Remember the way.
