Little Escapes

Ioannina Little escapes (μικρές αποδράσεις) are an excellent way to discover and taste Greece. The size of the country allows the visitor to actually drive to many different and beautiful destinations. These trips are ideal for 3 or 4-day weekends. On April of 2005 we visited Ioannina, a good size city with a lot of young people. The lake Pamvotida has a little island with amazing history and magnificent mountain background with tons of snow. The special on the lunch or dinner menu always includes eel from the lake. |

Patrino Carnavali My little brother attends a 4-year university at Patra, so it was an excellent opportunity for us to visit him. The city hosts the annual carnival fiesta and thousands of people gather to celebrate and have a good time. The celebration lasts 3 weeks but the last Sunday is the best. After the parade, the city distributes tons of chocolate and people party at the local bars. Advance arrangements are highly recommended. Patra is the third largest city in Greece and was the cultural capital of Europe for 2006. |

Monembasia Monembasia is located in Southern Peloponisos and it is a very calm place for vacation. Crystal clear waters but also very deep. Most of the action takes place inside the castle. Looking from outside you think its only a peace of rock sitting on the water but once inside, you discover a whole city with places to stay, restaurants to eat and bars for your night out. All the locals are very friendly. We visited Monembasia in August of 2004. |

Nauplio In June of 2004 we visited Nauplio, one of Greece's older capitals. The city is very nice and not far from Athens. The main attraction is the Bourtzi, an old castled build on the sea. If you ever visit the city, don't forget to try the seafood by the port.
