Hydra We went to Hydra island on September of 2005 to attend a friend's wedding. The island is very traditional and no cars or mopeds are allowed. The only mean of transportation is a little donkey or a sea taxi. The waters are very deep and crystal clear. Excellent coffee places by the port. |

Santorini One of the 2005 Greek Island destinations was Santorini. We went to the island in September where things are a little more quite but the weather is still summery. Santorini has a good nightlife but it is an island mainly for couples. After all, its the island with the best sunset. People just line up in coffee places and restaurants to enjoy it with a glass of wine or dinner. Across from the island there is a volcano which was last active in the 1950s. Upon visit though, one can notice the smoke that comes out as well as the yellow color of the sulphur. Before its first eruption there was nothing there, so its consistency is 100% volcanic material.

Tzia Tzia (KEA) is very nice island located right across the Lavrio port. The trip with the Ferry Boat is less than 45 minutes, thus it is an excellent destination for those who have little time on their hands. The island has many cobblestone paths where you can walk for hours. Tzia is very quiet and romantic island and has nice size beaches with blue waters. Once there, don't miss the taverns on the port: good food and the best salad I've ever eaten! |

Rhodes Rhodes (Ρόδος) is among my favorites islands. I fell in love with the island when I fist went to Rhodes in 1992 with my school for a 5-day vacation trip. I repeated the same trip another 2 times with other schools. In 2003 I also fulfilled part of my military service on the island. I was stationed there for 6 months, enough time to explore the whole island. The city as well as the suburbs are very elegant and European. Rhodes has excellent hotel and nightlife infrastructure, capable to satisfy the most demanding tourists. The old town is marvelous day and night. |
