2002 Visit to the Philippines |

Wednesday, 8th January 2003 - On Saturday we received word that an unmarried woman had died during childbirth. The baby survived and is now with the grandparents. The 300 club paid for the release of the body and then the funeral, then some food for the house, total cost in Aust Dollars $200. |
|
|
It is customary for whom ever assists with the payment of the funeral to show their respect and visit the house and attend the funeral. There were about 300 people attended and they walked from the Cathedral to the cemetery. Dave and I paid our respects and the family appreciated it. |

Old Nick - whose name is Nick Doroy (pronounced de Roy) close to my mate in Aussie . He is doing reasonably well and we will have Doctor Jenny visit him again tomorrow. We have been taking him pineapple juice (my idea as he was born in Hawaii) we also took an old guy from Doljo with us and he and Nick had a good old chin wag for an hour. I think it was the first exposure to male
companionship in quiet a while. |

Below are the new windows are in the front of the day care center, the cement rendering in finished on the front, we have ordered the colour bond roofing and the side windows will be ready shortly. The total cost including a small amount for labour will be under $5,000 AUD, which will come in under budget (thanks to Dave Collins being able to squeeze every cent out of the dollar. Mrs Boldazano is over the moon with delight. We had a meeting yesterday afternoon with the PTA and they are going to dig the water line, and paint the school inside and out when we are ready. Sadly I won't be here when it is finished, but being here and having the opportunity to see it being built is enough. There will be an official opening ceremony and a plaque will be placed on the front of the building recognising the 4 sister clubs and some individuals who donated specifically to this project.

David signed the four way sister club agreement yesterday, it was an historic moment in time as I really don't think four Rotary Clubs would have got together like this before. THANKS TO ALL ROTARIANS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. |

The little girl below, holding my left hand is a cutie, if I said"Hello Honey" she mimicks me in this cute little voice. I have decided she will get some special clothes.
