StormRunner: Hershey Park |

STORM RUNNER - THE MUST-RIDE OF 2004 There's a legend out West about a storm. A storm like no other with wind-tossed clouds and blinding bolts of lightning. A storm that flies across the horizon behind the hooves of an untamed, rebel of a beast.
When the thunder starts growling and the wind howls, look to the skies. Certain times you'll see this beast, racing in front of the storm clouds - a raging, renegade mustang; never ridden, never tamed. So fast, it keeps nature's fury at its heels. With it comes a rush of adrenaline, mixing anticipation with fear, and fear with excitement. That's STORM RUNNER, and it's coming to HERSHEYPARK.
This year, the thundering hooves of STORM RUNNER bring a stampede of thrill-seekers wanting to break this wild roque. This one-of-a-kind coaster will launch you from 0-72 mph in 2 seconds flat. 18 stories straight up, straight down. We're talking VERTICAL HORSEPOWER!
And that's just the beginning. You'll fly through loops, twists, and turns so fast, you won't know which way is west. Think you're brave enough to give it a go? |

HalfPipe: Six Flags Elitch Garden |

Riders can spin countless 360s at heights of up to 10 stories high on a gigantic 39-foot-long board. Sixteen thrill-seeking riders sit safely in two circular cars that spin independently as the board carves its way up and down the tallest Halfpipe around. Each ride is unique, because weight distribution and gravity determine how the cars spin.
The Halfpipe is the second new, ground-breaking coaster at the park in the past few years. "Having yet another first at Six Flags Elitch Gardens is a thrilling honor," Tongco said. "In 2002, we had the first-ever Flying Coaster. Now, we have the first Halfpipe thrill ride in America." |

Thunder Dolphin: LaQua (Japan) |

|
Many people living in Tokyo near the new Thunder Dolphin roller coaster (Intamin Mega Coaster, 265ft tall, 80mph) are outraged that the screams of riders were not factored into the planning permission for the ride. According to La Qua bosses, the ride was designed to operate below the city's limit of 55Db - however, they did not anticipate that screaming riders would send this figure soaring. The Thunder Dolphin coaster at this point is illegal as it has been operating at 80Db - a level of noise forbidden in Tokyo. Meetings will take place to determine what to do about the problem. Early suggestions include building a giant wall around the park, covering the ride with tunnels or installing double-glazing in nearby buildings. If the roller coaster's operation can not be made legal, it will be forced to close. |
