4.1 The Freshman Written by: Joss Whedon
One her first day on campus Buffy feels overwhelmed and confused. Willow and Oz had totally adapted. At the campus library Buffy accidentally knocks some books on a guy called Riley who is a TA. Willow and Riley talk enthusiastically about Psych 101 while Buffy feels left out. In her first class of pop culture. Buffy gets kicked out for talking in class. She also meets her roommate Kathy who is also unfortunately a Celine Dion die hard fan. While patrolling Buffy meets Eddie another student and find she's not the only one utterly confused on campus. The two say bye and Eddie is taken by a vampire. Back at the lair the group of teen vampires led by Sunday go through the dead Eddies stuff. Next day Buffy is upset when she finds a note left by Eddie saying how he couldn't take the pressure and left. Suspicious she visits Giles who seems to be having a lady friend over and tells Buffy to handle it herself. Hurt Buffy goes out and sees the vampire Eddie. Buffy fights the gang of vampires but is hurt by Sunday and runs off. Buffy goes to the Bronze and meets Xander who had returned. The two catch up and Buffy returns to her room to find all her stuff gone and a note like Eddies. Buffy and Xander spy on the vampires who are trying one Buffy's clothes and looking at her diary. Xander goes to get weapons. Buffy accidentally reveals herself. Willow and Oz find Buffy's note while Xander fills them in. Sunday fights with Buffy who is still injured. Sunday breaks Buffy's prom umbrella. Buffy is mad and dusts the vampires. The gang arrive to help just as Buffy throws a stake at Sunday. The gang leave the lair with Buffy's stuff. Buffy comments that uni is a lot like high school actually. Giles arrive panting saying that he couldn't leave her to fight alone and that they'll will fight it together, but he's a bit late. A vampire runs from the lair just to be shot down by electric prods by some strange commando men...
4.2

Living Conditions Written by: Marti Noxon

Buffy escapes from her Cher loving roommate Kathy. Buffy confesses to having drank some of Kathy's milk. She patrols with Willow for a while. A orange demon watches her. Buffy is surprised when Kathy comes up and says she decided to join her. A demon attacks and Buffy shoves Kathy aside. It escapes and tells its partner that they have found her. Next day Buffy is at Giles's house. She confesses that she's hanging here to avoid Kathy. Kathy scrubs to try to get the stains from being pushes into the bushes out of her sweater. Buffy cuts into the lunch line to avoid Kathy. The student behind her introduces himself as Parker and the two have a chat both obviously making goo goo eyes at each other. Kathy jumps in on the gang's table wearing Buffy's sweater and then drops sauce on it. Buffy is mighty mad. That night Kathy makes squeaky noises when flossing. Annoyed Buffy goes to pop her apple in the fridge. Everything is labelled KATHY. Buffy turns to see Kathy has shut her window. Opening it again she goes to sleep. Buffy dreams of a demon doing some weird ritual on her using blood. She tells Giles when Kathy interrupts saying she had the same dream. Two demons summon a demon called Tapparich. Buffy finds Parker with Kathy. Annoyed that her boyfriend to be is being snagged by Kathy, the two start again. Kathy accuses Buffy of being spoiled and Buffy then grabs Kathy's milk and drinking from the carton gulps the whole thing down. Worried about Buffy's change in attitude Oz comes with her on patrol. Buffy retells how annoying Kathy is and breaks a chair in frustration. Next day Willow listens as Buffy tells her that Kathy is a demon and she must be killed. Scared that Buffy is out of control Willow calls Giles. Buffy goes there and is tied up by Xander and Oz. Buffy convinces Giles to look at the toe nail clippins of Kathy. She says that she measured them that night and in the morning they had grown. Buffy escapes and confronts Kathy in their room. She peels of Kathy's face to reveal she is a demon.  The two fight viciously and Kathy reveals that she escaped from her dimension and now her elders are looking for her. She has been sucking Buffy's soul for the past nights so when they come they'll be looking for the one without a soul. Giles confirms Buffy's suspicions and does a spell to reverse the soul transportation. Buffy gets her soul back just as Tapparich bursts in. He creates a portal that drags Kathy back and he jumps in as well. Willow  moves in with Buffy. Buffy is glad that it was the ritual that was making her so tense not herself however when Willow takes a bite of Buffy's sandwich Buffy's eye starts to twitch.
4.3 In The Harsh Light of Day Written by: Jane Espenson

Willow meets Harmony as the two catch up. Willow soon discovers that Harmony is a vampire. Oz comes and Harmony runs off saying her boyfriend will be mad they hurt her. They run to tell Buffy. Harmony goes home to her boyfriend Spike. He is busy planning a tunnel when Harmony complains that she's bored. Xander is confronted by Anya who is back and confesses that she can't stop thinking about him. Buffy and Parker are at a party. Buffy encounters Spike and Harmony. The two flee but not before Harmony blurts out that they are after the Gem of Amara. Giles tells Buffy it is a vampire kind of holy grail but doesn't exist. Back at the party Parker and Buffy are talking and they start kissing and go to bed together. Anya goes to see Xander convinced that they must have sex so she can get over him and they do. Next day Parker tells her that he'll call her. Giles discovers that the Gem of Amara may be actually real and in Sunnydale. Spike is getting close to the crypt where the Gem may be. Buffy waits by the phone for days but there is no call from Parker. Spike finally finds the crypt filled with treasure. No longer needing Harmony he stakes her but she instantly heals. Shocked he realizes the Gem is in a ring she put on. Angry she pulls it off and throws it at him. Triumphant he decides to go for a walk in the sun. Buffy spots Parker chatting with another girl and asks him why he didn't call. Parker shrugs it off casually. Parker says that they had fun that night but it wasn't a commitment. Buffy is left crushed when Spike attacks her in broad daylight. The two fight as Spike laughs at her gullibility for men. Buffy stakes him but it heals. Just as Spike as the advantage Buffy manages to pull the ring off. He is forced to run for cover from the sun. The gang inspect the ring. Giles wants to destroy it but Buffy has a better idea. She asks Oz to drop it off in LA for Angel. That night Buffy walks aimlessly around thinking about Parker while Harmony walks crying over Spike and Anya walks around thinking about Xander. 

4.4 Fear, Itself Written by: David Fury
Nearly Halloween Buffy sits around moping about Parker. At a frat house everything is getting ready for the Halloween party. A guy paints a cultic symbol from a book on the ground as a finishing touch. Oz and Xander look around. Xander is immediately laughed at for being a townie. Oz cuts his hand and blood drips on the floor bringing the symbol to life as a plastic spider on the floor turns into a real one. Halloween night the gang arrive. Buffy is Red Riding Hood, Xander is James Bond while Willow is Joan of Arc and Oz wears a tag stating 'God.' Inside the guests soon find that everything is real including all the dead guests. The gang arrive finding the place strangely quiet. Spiders and bats that seem fake become real and attack them. A skeleton attacks Buffy but when she hits it, it turns back to cheap plastic. Buffy tells them to get Giles but Willow disagrees saying she has a spell that can guide them. Disagreeing they split up. Oz follows Willow while Xander follows Buffy. Xander soon finds that he is invisible to his friend. Oz begins to uncontrollably change into a werewolf despite that it is not a full moon. Dresses as a bunny Anya arrives but can't find the door. When she starts to notice all the weird things she gets Giles. He arrives with a chainsaw to rescue the gang. Willow summons a glowing green light to guide them but to her horror it starts multiplying and turns on her. Buffy finds herself in the basement where zombies trap her and taunt her about being alone. Buffy escapes and finds herself on the top floor. Everyone else is there huddled in fear. The realize they have been herded there. They notice the symbol. Giles arrives informing that it is the Mark of Gachnar a fear demon. It is trying to manifest itself by feeding on their fears. Buffy smashes the symbol thinking it will stop the ritual but instead it immediately brings Gachnar forth. A demon rises up roaring yelling them to bow before him. Unfortunately Gachnar is only 2 inches tall. The gang tease the cute little demon until Buffy stomps him. Giles then looks at the book with Gachnar's picture. Under the picture he then sees 'Actual Size'.
4.5 Beer Bad Written by: Tracey Forbes
Buffy daydreams of Parker begging to have her back, then she snaps back to reality where Parker is flirting with a girl. Xander announces he got a job at the bar on campus. That night at the pub Buffy bumps into Riley who comments on Parker's womanising. Xander meanwhile is having trouble in handling the demands of his job. Buffy is about to leave when some guys insist she join them. Hurt by Parker she agrees and is soon drinking beer along with her new friends. Willow is upset when Oz seems entranced by another band's lead female singer Veruca. Meanwhile a man is mixing chemicals and puts it into the Black Frost beer, the same brand Buffy was drinking. Willow returns to find Buffy very drunk staring at the TV. When Willow asks what happened Buffy replies that she did it with four really smart guys. Willow is horrified then quickly figures out that Buffy was talking about beer. In class Buffy grabs the sandwich from another person and muches down on it. That night at the Grotto Willow sees Parker and decides to give him a piece of her mind. Parker defends himself by explaining his point of view. At the bar Buffy is drinking with the guys again and are really getting rowdy. Xander convinces Buffy to go home and later goes to boot the guys out. However they begin to change into primal cave men and they run out. Xander goes to tell the bar owner who reveals that he was the one who did it to them. The chemicals in the Black Frost beer. Meanwhile Parker tries charm Willow but she doesn't fall for it. Suddenly the cave men guys burst in and knock out Willow and Parker. Giles and Xander go to see if Buffy has gone through the same transformation and find that they are too late. Cave Buffy is pounding a cave drawing of Parker on her wall then runs out. Out side Cave Buffy sees smoke coming from the Grotto. Inside the cave guys are panicking and trapped. Cave Buffy helps Willow out then goes back in. Parker wakes up and begs Cave Buffy for help but she knocks him out with a stick. Reluctantly she helps him out of the fire. After the fire is put out the cave guys are locked in a van until the affects wear off in a few days. Meanwhile Parker comes to ask forgiveness from Cave Buffy who just stares at him and then knocks him out again with the stick. 
4.6

Wild At Heart Written by: Marti Noxon

Spike is back and watches Buffy saying that the big bad is back. But before he finishes his speech he is captures by the commandos. Buffy notices Oz's attraction to Veruca as well and tries to reassure Willow. After a class Willow meets Oz who is talking with Veruca. Willow tries to join in the conversation but feels left out since they are talking music. Once again Buffy reassure Willow that Oz wouldn't cheat on her. That night Oz locks himself up but escapes and attacks Prof. Walsh. Suddenly a second werewolf jumps in and the two wolves attack each other. When he wakes up he finds himself naked next to a coy Veruca. Veruca tells him that she loves being a werewolf and the wolf is inside them every day. Disagreeing Oz leaves to check if anyone got hurt. Willow is upset when she tries to get intimate with Oz but he doesn't respond. Buffy hears about the attack of two 'wild dogs' and asks Oz but he denies knowing about a second wolf. That night Oz orders Veruca into the cage with him so they don't hurt anybody. Suddenly Oz can't stop his attraction and kisses her and the two change. Willow arrives in the morning and finds Oz and Veruca naked together. Oz tries to explain that he had to do it stop Veruca from hurting anyone but Willow doesn't believe him and runs off. In her upset state Willow is nearly hit by a car but saved by Riley. Buffy makes sure that Willow is alright then heads to find Veruca with the help of Oz's wolf smell. Armed with a tranquilliser gun they soon find only Veruca's clothes. She had set them to throw them off her trail. Buffy is detained in a fight against a commando while Oz rushes off to find Veruca. Meanwhile Willow does a vengeance spell against oz and Veruca but soon realizes she can't go through with it. Veruca appears and begins to change and attacks Willow. Oz bursts in the the two faceoff until Oz finally kills her. In total wolf form Oz then turns to Willow and is about to attack. Buffy arrives and shoots the tranquilliser gun at Oz. Next day Willow finds Oz packing his things. He explains that he has to leave because he knows the wolf is inside of him all the time and that means he can't be around anyone. Willow is upset that he is leaving so suddenly and cries. Oz then tearfully gets into his van and drives off.
4.7 The Initiative Written by: Douglas Petrie

Riley and his friends Forrest and Graham are in the cafeteria when Buffy walks in. They all say that she's cute but Riley can't help noticing that she is very peculiar. Meanwhile Spike wakes up in a cell. When he looks around he sees a long hall of identical cells with vampires and demons. The gang deduce that the commandos are human. Buffy hopes to cheer Willow up by taking her to a party that night, meaning Xander and Giles will be on patrol. In class Willow notices that they didn't call out Oz's name. Riley explains that Oz has dropped the class. When Willow tries to convince herself and them that Oz is coming back, Prof. Walsh then makes it clear that Oz is gone. Willow leaves upset and Buffy confronts Prof. Walsh about her heartless behaviour. Later Riley retells Buffy's confrontation to his friends who admit that Buffy has guts. They ask Parker about Buffy and he boasts about his conquest. Angry Riley punches Parker out and storms out. Followed by his friend Riley then realises that he likes Buffy and goes to find her. He asks Willow for help in getting to know Buffy but Willow is still bumming and is not in the mood for love talk. She does tell him that they'll be at the party tonight and that Buffy likes cheese. Meanwhile a blood packet drops into Spike's cell. As he reaches for it another vampire warns him that it is drugged. Once drugged the scientists grab you and perform experiments. Later scientists come in to drag the unconscious Spike. However as soon as he is out Spike escapes, frees the vampire next to him and the two run. They run into a gang of armed commandos. Spike throws the other vampire into the commando's face and escapes just in time. Spike meets back with Harmony. On patrol Xander finds Harmony burning some stuff. She explains that it is Spike's. He came back but soon he was off again bent on revenge against Buffy. The two have a catfight before leaving in truce. At the party Riley blanks on what to say to Buffy and stuffs up. Willow decides to leave which at least give Riley something to say to Buffy. The two start talking but Xander interrupts to tell Buffy about Spike. Riley then meets up with his two friends and they enter some secret elevator underground. As they walk through Riley comments that no one will go out with him. Joe regular by day but ... secret demon hunter by night. They walk out into the a platform overlooking a giant containment area with cells of demons and scientists. Riley goes to meet their boss...Prof. Walsh. Buffy goes out to look for Spike and Xander gives her a flare gun just in case she needs help. Meanwhile Spike bursts into Buffy's room and finds Willow. He turns up her stereo and then attacks Willow, her screams drowned out by the noise. Buffy sits on a bench patrolling. Meanwhile Riley and his commando friends are also looking for Spike. Seeing Buffy he tries to convince her to leave but the Buffy refuses. The two run off when a scream sounds. Willow sits next to Spike as he laments over what happened. He tries to bite her again but an intense pain shocks his head. Suddenly the commandos and Riley burst in shutting down the power to capture Spike. Buffy appears and assumes the commandos are enemies. She shoots the flare and creates a shock. The commandos are forced to retreat. Prof. Walsh is disappointed that Spike escaped but is pleased that their chip worked. Spike is unable to harm or even hit any human. Riley finally gets the courage to chat to Buffy.

4.8

Pangs Written by: Jane Espenson

Thanksgiving is soon and Buffy plans a perfect dinner at Giles's. The gang watch as a new Cultural Center is announced. Xander begins to dig on the site along with other workers when he falls through the ground. It seems there is an old Sunnydale mission buried there. Willow expresses her outrage at the celebration of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving isn't turkeys and cheer, it's about the pilgrims oppressing the indigenous people years ago. Buffy is distracted by a feeling of someone watching her. Unknowingly Angel is just outside watching out for Buffy because of a dooming vision that his friend had. Meanwhile Xander has become increasingly ill since his fall. At the same a time a green mist travels from the old mission into the museum where grabs an old Chumash knife and materializes into an Indian. The Indian then kills the Prof. at the museum there. Next day the gang investigate and they notice the body is missing an ear and that the Chumash knife is missing. Giles is stumped as to why a peaceful race would attack the Prof while Buffy manages all the foods needed for their dinner. After Buffy leaves, Giles calls Angel out who comments that Buffy seems alright. Angel refuses to let Buffy know that he is here since it would distract her. Willow spots Angel so he quickly fills her in on his visit here. Spike is starved for blood and begs Harmony for help. Buffy follows a lead to a priest and arrives in time to see the hanged corpse and the Indian cutting the ear off. The two fight but Buffy is reluctant when the Indian announces himself as Hus a vengeance spirit against those who persecuted his people. Buffy creates dinner for the gang while  Willow and Giles argue about what to do over this spirit. Willow is adamant at trying to help the spirit right the wrongs committed to his people while Giles argues that the spirit has killed innocent people. Xander lies on the couch even more ill and the gang deduce that Hus is recreating all the wrongs done to his people. Xander is being inflicted with all the diseases that the people suffered. Curiously there is another knock on the door. Spike rushes forward begging for food in exchange for commando information. Buffy reluctantly lets him in then ties him up. Xander, Anya and  Willow go to warn the Dean who was also at the opening site like the other two victims. However they are wrong and bump into Angel who tells them that Hus is targeting all the leaders, including Buffy. Dinner is almost ready when Giles's apartment is attacked by arrows. Hus seems to have summoned some friends. Buffy tries to talk things out but soon face off with Hus. Meanwhile the gang fight against the other spirits but they cannot be killed, until Buffy discovers that they can be killed by their own weapons. Hus transforms into a bear and is killed by Buffy using the Chumash knife. The gang continue with dinner and Buffy comments on how the old gang is back together for thanksgiving. Xander replies 'Especially with Angel being here.' 

4.9 Something Blue Written by: Tracey Forbes

Willow is still blue over Oz. Meanwhile Giles and Buffy can't get anything useful out of Spike and tie him up in the bathtub. Buffy teases him with the blood. Willow suggests a truth spell. Willow stops by Oz's place and finds that all his stuff is gone. Willow's blues seem to have a effect on everyone. At the Bronze the gang find Willow being surprisingly cheery dancing but soon find that she's been drinking. That night Willow tries to a will spell to will that her pain be gone. Next morning it seems to have failed. Giles comes to see if Willow has done the truth spell and gets down on her because she hasn't. Willow is upset saying that none of the gang understands her pain. Giles tries to say that he sees her point but Willow interrupts saying he doesn't see anything at all. At that point Willow's eyes glow and Giles becomes distracted. On the way out he bumps straight into a person without seeing them. In his loss of sight Spike escapes and Buffy calls off her girls night plans with Willow. Upset Willow vents about it to Xander saying that if Buffy cares so much about Spike why don't' they just get married. At that point Giles walks into his lounge where Spike is proposing to Buffy. Xander tries sooth Willow but she goes off again saying that Xander's love life is doomed as well and that he is a 'demon magnet'. Buffy goes out and meets Riley who hears about Buffy's new engagement. Freaked out Riley rushes off. Giles is soon completely blind while Xander and Anya are attacked by various demons. When they arrive at Giles's place and see Spike and Buffy all lovey-dovey Xander puts together everything. They realize that Willow's spell must have caused all this. Meanwhile Willow enters her room where the demon D'Hoffryn transports her to another dimension. The gang arrive to late but Anya recognises D'Hoffryn's work. She explains that D'Hoffryn was the one who turned her into a demon years ago. While walking through the cemetery the gang are attacked again and take hiding in a crypt while Anya tries to summon D'Hoffryn. Meanwhile D'Hoffryn offers Willow a job as a vengeance demon and shows her the result of her spell. Horrified she refuses the offer. Disappointed he hands her a talisman in case she changes her mind. The demons break into the crypt and the gang try to fight it off. In the fight Spike and Buffy start kissing madly. Willow arrives and undoes her spell. Buffy and Spike jump apart disgusted. The next day Willow bakes cookies to make up for what she did while Buffy still can't get over the fact she kissed Spike. Buffy convinces Riley that the 'engagement' was simply a joke.

4.10 Hush Written by: Joss Whedon

Buffy dreams in class about a creepy rhyme by a girl about the Gentlemen. She tells Giles. Meanwhile, Xander and Anya are arguing because she thinks he doesn't really care about her. Giles gets Spike to stay with Xander since his girlfriend is visiting. Willow is disappointed that her Wicca uni group is no more than a bunch of wannabes. She notices a quiet girl called Tara. Buffy complains to Willow that she hates lying to Riley about being the Slayer and that they haven't kissed yet. That night, Spike is tied up in Xander's basement. Giles's girlfriend arrives and they sleep together. At the same time, a group of horrifying Gentlemen hide out in the clock tower. They open a box and all around Sunnydale, a white mist escapes everyone's mouth and is trapped in the box. Buffy wakes up and finds she has no voice. Everyone soon discovers that all their voices have gone. The town is in chaos and diagnosed with laryngitis. The Initiative is affected as well and tries to help maintain order. That night, the Gentlemen with their minions, strait jacket demons, go into random people's homes. The victims are unable to scream as the minions hold them down and the Gentlemen carve out their hearts. Giles' girlfriend sees a Gentlemen and sketches it. Giles recognises it from a fairy tale book and gathers the gang together. Using overheads sheets, he tells them that the Gentlemen have stolen everyone's voices so they can't scream. They need 7 hearts. They cannot be killed by swords but by a real human voice. Xander sees Anya asleep and Spike in vampire mode. He assumes the worst and pounds Spike until Anya wakes up and realizes that he really does care for her. Buffy patrols that night and encounters Riley. They both kiss before departing. Tara from the wicca group goes to find Willow but encounters the Gentlemen. She runs and bumps into Willow. Meanwhile, Riley finds the Gentlemen hideout and goes in, fighting the minions. Buffy fights a few outside and then crashes into the clock tower. Both are fighting when they turn to each other, weapons in hand, and are shocked. However they quickly back in battle against the minions. Elsewhere, Willow and Tara stumble into the laundry room but are too weak to push a vending machine to block the door. Tara sees Willow trying to move it with her mind and joins hands. Together they use magic to vault the machine there easily. Buffy is held down by the minions and Riley helps. She recognises the voice box from her dream and signals him to smash it. He smashes it after the second time and all the voices are released. Back with her own voice, Buffy screams out. The Gentlemen shake and try to cover their ears but it's too late and they explode. The next day, Willow talks to Tara and they hit it off finding that they both practice actual magic. Giles' girlfriend is shocked by the existence of demons and seems shaken. Buffy and Riley meet agreeing to talk. But they have nothing to say.

4.11 Doomed Written by: David Fury and Jane Espenson

Buffy and Riley reveal to each other who they are. Surprisingly Riley has never heard of a Slayer and Buffy confirms that Riley is part of the Initiative.  An earthquake occurs. Buffy avoids telling anyone about Riley being in the Initiative. Meanwhile, Spike and Xander are obviously not getting along as roommates. Willow goes to a party alone and catches up with Percy. Later she overhears him calling her a nerd and is upset. A partier is fixing drinks when attacked by a demon that slashes him throat. Willow goes into the room and finds the dead body. Elsewhere, Xander returns home to find that Spike wearing a Hawaiian shirt. The gang meet up to research the demon, Vahrall, and find that they tend to end the world with the bones of a child, a man's blood and the Word of Valios. Willow remembers a symbol carved on the corpse. Buffy recognises it on a mausoleum and finds the demon with the bones of a child. It runs off and Buffy is about to go after it when Riley appears. He reports in and seems happy that Buffy and him have so much in common. However Buffy thinks that they're relationship is doomed, just like her last one. She brushes him off and leaves. Riley returns to brief him team about the demon. Buffy goes to track it while Giles researches the Word of Valios. Willow and Xander go to his basement and is shocked to find Spike trying to stake himself, disgusted at what a pathetic vampire he is. Willow and Xander take him along to stop him from killing himself. Buffy runs into Riley and they argue until Riley gives up and leaves her be. Giles recognises the Word of Valios as a trinket in his junk box just as three demons rush in. The gang return to learn that the demons need 3 sacrifices to open the Hellmouth. The gang plus Spike go to what's left of Sunnydale High. They find the demons but no sacrifices. They start fighting when one demon leaps into the cavern and they realize that the demons are the sacrifices. Spike is shocked to learn that he can hurt demons without any pain. In his glory he throws a demon in the cavern. The place crumbles and the gang are forced to leave. Buffy stays behind with the last demon and Riley appears to help. The demon leaps in the cavern. Buffy jumps in with Riley's rope to grab the demon in mid air and haul it back out, averting the Apocalypse. Riley meets the gang and fails to cover up why he was there and they guess that he is in the Initiative. Next day, Riley is upset that his cover was blown until Buffy comes and greets him with a kiss. Xander and Willow are being couch potatoes when Spike comes up, riled up and pleading to kill something.

4.12 A New Man Written by: Jane Espenson

Buffy gets a surprise Birthday party at the dorm. Giles is surprised at all the new friends and people Buffy knows. He also meets Riley. However, he starts to feel left out and jealous of Prof. Walsh, Buffy's new mentor. Next day, Spike moves out of Xander's basement into his own crypt. Giles discovers a prophecy of a dark prince demon rising at sunset. Meanwhile, Buffy and Riley are sparring. Giles tries to find Buffy but meets Prof. Walsh who comments on Buffy's lack of father figure. Giles and her have a disagreement on how Buffy should be brought up. Later, Giles, Willow and Xander arrive at the prince demon's rising spot. Willow and Xander suggest that Riley and the commandos may have taken care of it already. Giles is confused and even more shocked and hurt when he realizes that no one has told him about finding out who the Initiative and Riley was. Willow and Xander leave followed by Giles when Ethan Rayne emerges and starts to gloat. Giles turns back, hearing the noise and catches Ethan. The two are downing drinks while Giles complains about Buffy and her new life. Ethan lets him in on rumors of an evil called 314. Willow and Tara do a spell that suddenly gets out of control. Next day, Willow tells Buffy about Giles feeling left out and the spell going wrong caused by disruption of some dark magic. Meanwhile, Giles wakes up and is shocked when he looks in the mirror and finds he has turned into a horned demon with incredible strength, accidentally breaking everything he touches. Realizing this is Ethan's work, he rushes to Xander for help, but finds that Xander can't understand him. Meanwhile, the gang discovers Giles' ruined apartment and suspect that the Fyarl demon has eaten or taken Giles and the dark energy felt by Willow was probably used by someone to control the demon. They learn it can only be killed by silver. Buffy grabs a silver letter opener and she and Riley go to the magic shop for clues. Meanwhile, Giles runs into Spike, who speaks Fyarl. Spike agrees to help if he is paid. They trace back to the bar he and Ethan went last night and find a card Ethan left the waitress for her to give him a call. Spike and Giles drive to the address on the card. Meanwhile, Giles starts to think and act demon like. Seeing Prof. Walsh he scares her for fun. However, the Initiative are on their trail. Giles rolls out of the car while Spike leads them away and loses them. Meanwhile, Buffy finds a docket at the shop from Ethan. Riley uses his contacts to locate exactly where Ethan is staying. Giles finds Ethan and thrashes him until Buffy comes and fights Giles, unaware of who he is. She demands to know where Giles is and stabs him with the letter opener. At that moment she recognizes Giles' eyes, but fortunately the knife wasn't real silver. Ethan undoes the spell and is taken away by the Initiative. Next day, Buffy apologizes to Giles for leaving him out of the loop. Giles warns her about 314 and about finding more about the Initiative's agenda.

4.13 The I In Team Written by: David Fury
Willow, Anya and Xander play poker while talking about how they don't really know anything about the Initiative. Meanwhile, Buffy is training with the Initiative and shocks them by neutralizing their commandos in seconds. Prof. Walsh watches Buffy warily. Next day, Willow reminds Buffy of hanging out at the Bronze and getting the core Scoobies together again. Later, Buffy is introduced into the Initiative and is shocked by how big it is. After the grand tour, Prof. Walsh enters a secret lab 314 and is obviously building some secret human, demon, machine cyborg called Adam. Prof. Walsh comments that Buffy's questions and lack of discipline could be dangerous. Meanwhile, the gang are waiting for Buffy who arrives late. They are hurt that she also bought along her new Initiative friends and then has to rush off with them. Willow goes to meet Tara after Buffy leaves, obviously hurt that she was ditched again. Buffy and the Initiative are set after some Polgara demons, but she starts to ask questions. Prof. Walsh decides that Buffy is a liability. Buffy and Riley pin one Polgara. Meanwhile, another commando team finds Spike and hits him with a tracer, before he escapes. Buffy and Riley sleep together. When they wake up, Buffy finds that Riley doesn't know much about the Initiative as well and asks about 314. Riley is called away to trace Spike. He begins to realize Buffy's questions and gets curious himself, noticing the secret lab called 314. Meanwhile, Spike finds shelter with Giles who agrees to help get the tracer out but for money. Willow uses a spell to blur the signal for a while. The tracer is pulled out of Spike's back and flushes before Riley and his crew can find them. Meanwhile, Buffy is called in to go after a suspected demon in the sewers by herself with a laser gun and a communicator. Buffy is surprised when the two demons turn out to be Polgara's. Her weapon fails and she is trapped, forced to fight hand to hand. Meanwhile, Walsh watches satisfied from the base. Buffy's communicator falls off. Walsh sees the heart rate affixed to the communicator go dead and is satisfied. Buffy kills the demons. Meanwhile, Riley returns. Walsh tells him of Buffy's death just as Buffy appears on the screen, confronting Walsh about trying to kill her. Riley is shocked and runs out of the Initiative. Buffy meets with the gang to confirm that the Initiative is up to no good and no one is safe. Meanwhile, Walsh goes back to the lab to continue work on Adam when he suddenly gets up and stabs her in the back.
4.14 Goodbye Iowa Written by: Marti Noxon
Buffy assembles the gang to hide when Riley appears. He is shocked that Prof. Walsh tried to kill Buffy and refuses to believe it. He recognises Spike as HST 17. Buffy and the gang hide out in Xander's basement. Prof. Walsh's body is discovered. Adam finds a boy and kills him to discover how humans work. The gang hear about it on the news and go out for research. Willow and Tara do a spell to locate demons in Sunnydale. Tara purposely messes up the spell. Riley tells Forrest that Walsh tried to kill Buffy and Forrest argues back that maybe Walsh had a reason to kill her. Graham tells them about Professor Walsh. Forrest sees that the body was skewered and blames Buffy. Riley is furious and sends the troops out to find the demon. Buffy finds Riley who is distressed about Walsh's death and blames Buffy. Buffy is determined to find the killer. Graham and Forrest find Spike's crypt but miss him. Buffy goes to Willy's demon bar. Riley  follows and is shocked that Buffy not only harbours demons but buys them drinks. Buffy notices Riley's intense state and shaking. Riley is fevered and confused about who the good and bad guys are, almost killing a old lady. Buffy takes Riley to Xander's to rest. Xander and Buffy go into the Initiative under her old ID. They overhear that the doctors have given regular drugs to the commandos to improve their strength and stamina. However with Walsh's death, the drugs have been deregulated and the commandos are running fevered, like Riley. Buffy and Xander grab Doctor Angleman. Riley arrives still fevered and comments that the cameras have been disabled. Buffy is confused since she didn't cause this. Riley is uncertain of whether to help the doctor or help Buffy to get the answers about 314. The doctor confesses to Walsh's secret project. Adam appears and talks about Walsh. He tells them that he is knows what he is but not who he is. He explains that he was created by Prof. Walsh. Upset, Riley attacks and a fight ensues. The doctor is killed and Riley stabbed. Buffy and Xander are thrown about easily by Adam who then leaves. The commandos come and take Riley to their hospital. Buffy wants to go to but they kick her out. Next day, Buffy talks to Willow. She is worried about Riley and Adam. Riley's whole world has been torn apart and he's nothing to hold onto. In the hospital Riley lies recovering on the bed completely shattered by what's happened as he grasps onto Buffy's bandana.  
4.15 This Year's Girl Written by: Douglas Petrie
In a dream, Buffy and Faith make a bed together. Buffy is worried, having not seen Riley since he was taken. Riley leaves the Initiative to find Buffy who is relieved to see him. In Faith's dream, she and the Mayor are sitting when Buffy comes up and kills him. Faith runs from her but the two fight. Faith emerges alive just as Faith's eyes snap open in real life. She finds that year has gone by and that the Mayor is dead. She mugs a woman and escapes. The hospital finds out and police are warned. The watchers are contacted just as is Buffy. The gang are shocked and unsure of what to do with Faith. At the same time, Faith watches from outside and notices Buffy's new boyfriend. Riley asks who Faith is. Buffy tells him a vague story. Willow and Buffy are on campus when they bump into Faith. Buffy soon finds that Faith is none too happy about being in a coma and the two fight when police arrive and Faith runs off. Willow and Tara are advised to go into hiding. That night, Xander and Giles patrol and bump into Spike. Faith is met by a demon with a package from the Mayor. She plays a video of the Mayor who tells her that he must be dead since she's watching this. He relays that Faith has no place in the world but he has one last present so she goes out with a bang. Faith opens it to reveal a mystical device. Buffy warns Riley about Faith. Meanwhile, Joyce hears the door. Opening it she is greeted with a punch from Faith. Joyce is bound upstairs while Faith raids her makeup case to freshen up while chatting away. Faith taunts Joyce about how Buffy's deserted her for campus life. She didn't even call to warn Joyce. She's forgotten about her mom just like she forgot about Faith. Just at the moment, Buffy smashes through and a fight ensues. They end up downstairs and in the middle of the fight, Faith puts on the Mayor's present on her hand and grabs Buffy's. A rush shoots through both of them and afterwards they are dazed. Buffy seeminginly recovers and knocks out Faith. The police arrive taking Faith away. Joyce is concerned and asks Buffy how she is. 'Buffy' replies 'Five by five' with a sinister look in her eyes.
4.16 Who Are You? Written by: Joss Whedon

'Faith' is taken away by the police and then abducted by the Watcher's Council. 'Buffy' checks out her new body and tries to imitate Buffy. 'Buffy' orders some plane tickets out of Sunnydale then goes to see the gang. She hears that 'Faith' is being taken to England. She then tells the gang to relax and that tonight she will patrol. That night 'Buffy' is partying at the Bronze where she meets Spike. She teases him but tells him that she won't do anything because it's wrong. 'Faith' tries to convince her captors that Faith has her body. Willow introduces Tara to 'Buffy'. 'Buffy' figures out that Tara and Willow are a couple and she teases Tara. 'Buffy' goes out to save a girl from a vampire and is surprised when the girl thanks her. Willow suggests that 'Buffy' go visit Riley. 'Faith' escapes from her captors. 'Buffy' seduces Riley who thinks he is making love to Buffy. Tara tells Willow that she thinks that Buffy is possessed so they do a spell to find out. 'Buffy' wakes up in the middle of the night confused and upset at her identity. Next morning 'Buffy' leaves just as Forrest calls her a killer. 'Faith' arrives at Giles's and convinces him that she really is Buffy by spilling secrets about him that only Buffy would know. Willow pops in to say that she knows as well and has a reversal amulet for the spell. 'Buffy' is ready to catch the plane when she hears of vampires holding up a church. Confused at her own identity she decides to do something that Buffy would do and goes to save the people. There she fights against the vampires saying that they can't kill the people because it's wrong. 'Faith' arrives and confronts 'Buffy'. The two fight and 'Buffy' starts bashing  'Faith' screaming that she is a disgusting killer and murderer. 'Faith' swaps their bodies again. Faith gets up and runs away shocked now that she sees how others see her and disgusted with herself. Buffy is with Riley and tells him that Faith is gone. Riley reveals that he slept with Faith whom he thought was her but Buffy is still upset. Faith meanwhile is hitching a ride on the back of a truck away from Sunnydale. 

4.17 Superstar Written by: Jane Espenson
The gang are out slaying when they discover a nest. They decide to call for backup. The gang visit up at huge mansion to humbly ask for help from...Jonathon. They head in and slay the nest, Jonathon staking most of them expertly. After the fight, Jonathon is swamped by his paparazzi. Later, Willow and Tara talk about the Buffy/Riley weirdness while adding to their Jonathon shrine. Meanwhile, Buffy and Riley are talking. However, when Riley leans close to her, Buffy freaks out and bails. Next day, Buffy confides about this to Jonathon who gives her advice that perhaps she's not angry at Faith but at Riley. A Jonathon fanatic called Karen rushes up to him for an autograph. At the Initiative, Jonathon, tells the team that Adam is powered by a uranium core and to kill Adam, they must remove the core. Riley confides to Jonathon about Buffy. Later at the Bronze, Jonathon storms up the Bronze with a jazz song from his latest album. He dedicates it to Buffy and Riley, who then dance and make up. Meanwhile, Karen is stalking outside Jonathon's mansion when attacked by a demon. She rushes to the Bronze for Jonathon's help telling him that the demon had a symbol on its head. Jonathon is shaken when he sees the symbol but tells the gang that he'll take care of it himself. Afterwards, Tara walks to her dorm alone when attacked by the same demon. Next day, Tara has been found. Buffy is confused by why he lied about taking care of the demon himself. She wanders the streets staring at the Jonathon posters and billboards all over town. She heads to Xander's plac and looks through Xander's Jonathon merchandise comics, posters and trading cards. Buffy begins to questions how Jonathon could be so perfect. Meanwhile, Adam watches and notes that this Jonathon business is simply magics. But only he can see through it because he is more aware and impervious. Buffy holds a meeting to bring up her questions about Jonathon, how he could possibly do all these things. She gets a Jonathon swimsuit calendar to reveal the very same geometric symbol marked on his back. Suddenly, Jonathon interrupts and explains the symbol on his back was to remind him not to underestimate the demon. Buffy and Jonathon go out to confront the demon.  Jonathon finds Spike who refuses to give any information. In a act surprising everyone, Buffy takes lead and threatens Spike who tells them the demon's location. Meanwhile, the gang research the symbol and discover that Jonathon did an augmentation spell to change the world so that he became everyone's ideal. The demon was created as a result of the spell and if the demon is killed, the spell is broken. Buffy and Jonathon find the demon. Jonathon battles the demon, weakening himself with every blow. At the same time, Buffy starts to regain her power and battles the demon while Jonathon cowers away. Jonathon finally kills the demon himself by pushing it into a chasm. With that act, the entire world is changed. Next day, the world is starting to forget the spell. Buffy notices Jonathon standing by himself and gives him a pep talk.
4.18 Where The Wild Things Are Written by: Tracey Forbes
Buffy and Riley spend the night together when he is disturbed by a dripping tap. Later, Forrest, Graham and another guy are lighting the fire when it explodes, burning the guy. Xander and Anya get into a fight because Anya feels insecure that Xander has lost interest in her and doesn't find her attractive. The next night at the frat party, Riley and Buffy make googly eyes at each other before running off to the bedroom. Xander talks about Anya and his fight to Willow and Tara. Meanwhile, Anya and Spike sit at the Bronze musing about their lack of power and their glory days before Anya takes Spike to the frat party. They arrive and Xander is jealous and the two fight again before breaking up and going separate ways into the party. Buffy and Riley are still getting it on when strange things begin to happen. A student touches a part of the walls which sends a euphoric energy through him. Xander meets a girl called Julie and the two play spin the bottle. Spike hangs out alone. Tara and Willow are talking when Tara suddenly seems possessed and goes off. Xander and Julie kiss in the game. After a little peck, Julie suddenly throws herself at him before running off,  cutting her hair furiously. Willow sees a drowning person in the bathtub but it turns out to be a ghost. The gang go to find Buffy and Riley about the weird stuff when the entire house goes crazy. When they reach the bedroom, it is covered by vines. The guests run out in fear and the gang are forced to leave. Spike goes off without a care. The gang decide to find Giles and are stunned to find him belting out some tunes at the Espresso Pump. They research and find that the house was once a shelter for children run by woman. They the old woman who explains that she was a good mother, rewarding them when they were good and punishing them when they were bad. Giles realizes the truth that the woman abused the children when they were 'dirty', cutting their hair or drowning them in baptising water. He deduces that it is a poltergeist of pent up hormonal energy and that Buffy and Riley's sleeping together is a battery fuelling it. Willow, Tara and Giles hold a séance to call up the spirits but it fails. Xander and Anya get in but are separated, thrown around the room while Xander is drowned. Anya helps Xander and together, they hack their way through the thorny vines to the bedroom to thrust open the door. Buffy and Riley get up, having no idea what was happening.  The next day, the two are deeply embarrassed but sheepishly can't say it was horrible.
4.19 New Moon Rising  Written by: Marti Noxon
Tara is taken to her first Scooby meeting. Shocking everyone, Oz returns saying he needs to talk to Willow. Riley comments that he didn't think that Willow was into dangerous guys like werewolf Oz. Angry, Buffy tries to tell him that not all evils are evil. Willow and Oz catch up and they take a walk outside. Oz then points up at the sky; it is a full moon. Willow is shocked and happy for Oz finding a cure. He explains that with some herbs, charms and keeping his inner wolf calm, he won't turn. They talk all night and when Tara comes over she assumes that Willow is back with Oz and runs off. Still angry at Riley for being so close minded, Buffy then hears that some of Riley's men were attacked a demon. Willow then reveals to Buffy that with Oz back her life is really complicated. When Buffy asks why, Willow says because of Tara. Buffy first thinks that Tara has a crush on Oz but then soon gets the point that Willow and Tara are in love. She reassures Willow that she's not freaked. Tara tells Willow that she understands if Willow wants to be with Oz instead. Oz remembers Tara when she passes by. The two talk and Oz smells Willow on Tara. Upset he demands to know if the two are in love. Losing his cool, Oz changes in broad daylight and chases Tara. The commandos arrive taking away Oz before Tara can explain. She tells Willow and the gang assemble. Riley discovers that the new HST brought in is Oz and he tries to rescue him from the experimenting doctors. However he is stopped and jailed for treason. Buffy and gang infiltrate rescuing Oz and Riley. Just before they leave, the head commando warns that Riley's military career is over and that he is now a outlaw. Still Riley leaves with Buffy. Oz and Willow talk in the van. Oz tells her that the one thing that brings the wolf out turns out to be her. Oz leaves knowing that he can't be with her. Riley and Buffy are setting up Riley's new home in the destroyed school. Riley realises now that he was being close minded and Buffy then feels ready enough to tell him about Angel. Willow visits Tara. Tara says that she understands that Willow has to be with the one she loves. Willow says that she is and the two kiss.
4.20 The Yoko Factor Written by: Douglas Petrie
Buffy returns from LA. Riley finds out that the trigger to Angel losing his soul is making love to Buffy. Willow confesses to Tara that she and Buffy have grown apart. Spike enlisted by Adam for exchange in getting his chip out. Adam gets Spike to split up the gang so Buffy will be all alone and easier to defeat. He goes to Giles saying that he has info for Buffy. Giles says he'll give Buffy the message but Spike strikes a cord when he doesn't think that Buffy will listen to Giles since he's hardly part of her life anymore. Spike is going to infiltrate the Initiative to get files. Spike hints to Xander that Buffy and Willow have been talking about him behind his back. Meanwhile Riley is concerned about what happened between Buffy and Angel but Buffy doesn't want to talk about it. Unknowingly Angel is Sunnydale and is attacked by four commandos just as Riley steps in. He and Angel have a showdown but the two split when more commandos come. Buffy goes to a cave and finds Forrest and Adam. Forrest is killed and Buffy barely gets away. Back in her room she finds Angel just as Riley bursts in ready to shoot Angel. The two start fighting again so Buffy pushes them apart. She talks with Angel alone. Spike meanwhile pretends to have stolen the files and actually gives them the files that Adam gave Spike to trick them. Willow tries to decrypts it as Spike hints again that Xander and Buffy have been talking about how Willow's magic and Tara are just a phase. Angel says that he is sorry about what he said to Buffy in LA. After Angel leaves, Riley thinks that Buffy is back with Angel. Buffy and Riley talk it out but then she tells him about Forrest. Buffy goes to Giles's house. The gang start fighting angry, thinking that they've been talking about each other behind their backs. Buffy finally leaves in anger. Meanwhile Adam greets his new recruit....Riley.
4.21 Primeval Written by: David Fury
Adam reveals to Spike that he has activated a chip inside Riley that can control him. The gang are still not talking. Buffy finds Adam's lair and finds Spike who says that he's just passing through. However he unknowingly mentions Buffy and Willow's fight. Buffy pieces it together and calls the gang. They stand awkwardly and Buffy asks them who told them that they were talking about each other. They all say Spike and realize they've been played. Willow reveals that the files Spike stole decrypted themselves which was odd. It revealed some information about a final phase of 314 in a secret lab. They deduce that the final phase will unleash all the demons in the Initiative creating a big showdown between the Initiative and demons leaving a big pile of body parts for Adam to create his new race. Xander comes up with an idea of combing Buffy's strength, Giles's language skills and Willow's witchcraft together to defeat Adam. Together they come up with a plan to defeat Adam. They will combine their essences into Buffy and using a spell in Sumerian they will paralyse Adam and extract him Uranium core. They infiltrate the Initiative. There Buffy apologises for how strained things have been between them. She realizes that things between them were already there, Spike just stirred them a little. The gang hug and make up. They are caught by the Initiative. The Initiative are unconvinced by the gang's idea and the notion of some secret lab. Adam sees Buffy there with her friends, Spike has failed. Spike escapes. Adam is in the secret lab with Riley. There Riley sees the reincarnated Professor Walsh and Dr Angleman who have become zombies. Forrest has also been re constructed like Adam. Adam uses controls to create a lockdown of the Initiative and cuts off the power, releasing all the captured demons. The Initiative rush off to control the problem. Willow finds the secret lab and the gang head out. Running through the chaos they find 314. Outside all the demons are fighting the Initiative. Buffy finds a way to the secret lab while the gang begin the spell. Buffy finds Riley who is under the chip's control. She is attacked by the zombies and Forrest. Riley manages to use a piece of glass to remove the chip from his chest. Riley fights of Forrest and kills him. Buffy goes off to face Adam. She is easily overpowered and he shoots at her with a machine gun. The gang finish the spell. Buffy suddenly gasps and her eyes are filled with energy. She creates a force field to block the bullets and even turns them into doves. She and Adam fight and he is overpowered. Adam is shocked and cannot understand how this could happen. Buffy tells him that he could never hope to grasp the source of their power and punches into Adam and pulls out the Uranium saying that he's is right here. Adam slumps down and Buffy destroys the Uranium. The spell breaks. The gang help the rest of the Initiative fight off the demons. The Government watch and conclude that the experiment has failed. Adam has been destroyed and the Initiative will be filled with cement. 
4.22 Restless Written by: Joss Whedon
The gang have a video fest after their big showdown with Adam. They quickly fall asleep. In Willow's dream she is talking to Tara while she paints symbols on Tara'a back. Tara is worried that they haven't given their kitten a name yet. Tara remarks that they find out the truth about her. Willow leaves for drama class and passes by Xander and Oz. In her first class she is shocked to find that they are already opening a production. Buffy, Riley, Giles and Harmony are all there for 'The Death of a Sales Person.' Willow turns to see a guy offering cheese. Willow is worried since she doesn't know her lines and finds Tara who warns that something is after her and disappears. Willow is attacked by something but saved by Buffy. They are back in highschool. Buffy asks why Willow is still in costume and tells her that everyone knows her big secret. Willow is wearing her normal clothes and says that she needs them. Buffy rips off Willow's clothes to reveal Willow as the nerdy highschool girl. She is back in class reading her book report. Everyone is there mocking her. Tara and Oz are whispering to each other as Anya, Buffy and Xander laugh at her. Willow is attacked by the monster again as the class watch bored. Willow is choking in her sleep. In Xander's dream he wakes up to find the gang watching the movie. He goes to the bathroom and meets Joyce who flirts with him. In the bathroom, Xander finds a whole lab of Initiative scientists taking notes as they watch him. He tries another room and finds himself out side. Spike and Giles are swinging on the swings as Buffy plays in the sand. Xander is worried about Buffy but she tells him that it's not after just yet. Xander is in his ice cream van with Anya driving who asks him if he knows where he's going. Skanky looking Tara and Willow invite him with them in the back of the van. He goes crawling further back and finds himself back in the basement. The doorknob rattles as someone tries to get in. He goes looking for Buffy for help but ends up in the jungle and meets Snyder. He finds Giles and Anya but they speak in a foreign language. He also meets the cheese guy. He is dragged by people back to his room where his father is shouting at him. His dad comes down and rips his heart out then turns into the monster. In Giles's dream he is training Buffy. He, Olivia and Buffy are out in a fair where Buffy drags him around like a little kid. Buffy throws a ball at a vampire and wins fairy floss. He warns her that she'll get it all over her face. When she turns around her face is covered in it. Startled he says 'I know you...' Spike calls to him and Giles goes to his crypt. There Spike has hired himself out as a attraction and Giles meets the cheese guy. Giles leaves the crypt and is in Bronze where he meets Willow and Xander. They are trying to find out what the creature is as they've all been attacked as well. Giles goes on the stage to sing while giving instructions to Willow. Giles thinks that the spell they did with Buffy may have something to do with it. Suddenly the mike crackles. Giles follows the cord back stage where he is killed by the monster. Before he dies he says that he knows who it is and that she never had a Watcher. In Buffy's dream she is back as home staring at her bed. She comments that she just made the bed with Faith. Tara is there and warns 'Do you know what you are? What's to come? You haven't even begun.' Buffy goes to find her friends as Tara whispers 'Be back before dawn.' Outside she asks people if they have found her friends. She goes to the Initiative where Riley is back and he greets her as 'killer'. He explains that they have planned world domination. Buffy turns to the guy with Riley and asks what was his name. He replies 'Before Adam? Not a man alive can remember.' The HSTs break out again and Buffy tries to help with weapons but finds only a bag of cement. She puts her hand in and begins to wipe the cement on her face. Outside she walks into the desert where she finds Tara. Tara explains that she is speaking for someone else. The monster arrives and it is a primitive girl, the First Slayer. Buffy demands her friends back, but Tara argues that Buffy can only kill and does not walk in this world. Buffy argues that she walks, she talks, she shops. The cheese guy pops in. The First Slayer speaks out and fights with Buffy but Buffy decides to wake up. She wakes on the floor and is attacked by the First Slayer. However the First Slayer cannot hurt Buffy and Buffy wakes up again along with everyone.  It seems that they were attacked by the First Slayer who was released when they did the spell with Buffy. Buffy goes to have a shower and passes by an empty room where Tara's words echo in her mind 'Do you know what you are? What's to come? You haven't even begun.'
