6.1/2 Welcome to the Hellmouth  Part 1 and 2 Written by: Joss Whedon
After being kicked out of Hemery High, Buffy Summers and her mother move to Sunnydale, California to start over. Trying to escape her destiny as the slayer, Buffy finds herself in the Hellmouth (a center to all demonic energy). She quickly befriends a sweet but nerdy Willow, clown Xander, popular Cordelia and also discovers that the librarian, Giles is actually her new watcher.  Unknowingly the Harvest is approaching and if the vampires succeed the Master will rise and unleash hell. On her way to the popular hangout, the Bronze she meets mysterious and handsome Angel who clues her in on the event. At the Bronze , she sees Willow being tricked by a vampire. She runs outside and follows to a mausoleum where she discover a vampire Darla holding Jesse (Xander's friend) and Willow. Buffy fights Darla but is overcome when another vampire, Luke attacks. Buffy escapes and finds Willow safe but Jesse is taken to the Master. Back at school, Buffy and the gang work together and discover the sewer tunnels to the Master's hideout. Buffy ventures alone but soon finds Xander tagging along. Inside the Master hears about the slayer. They find that Jesse has become a vampire and barely escape from the sewers. Planning together they find that the Master will try to rise by using his vessel (Luke) to feed on all the people in the Bronze giving the Master more strength. The vampires take control of the Bronze and while Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles assemble to help the people escape and kill Luke. Bursting in Buffy takes on Luke, while the others fight off the other vampires. Buffy kills Luke after a huge fight while Xander confronts his friend Jesse the vampire. Xander cannot kill Jesse but does when somebody accidentally bumps Xander plunging the stake into Jesse. Meanwhile, the Master sits in his prison, frustrated and Sunnydale is saved.

The Witch Written by: Dana Reston

Trying to return to a normal life, Buffy tries out for the cheerleading quad. She meets a girl named Amy whose mother is pressuring her into getting into the team. Strangely during auditions one of the girls catch on fire during one of the routines. Next day, Amy and Buffy find out they were both placed as alternates. Meanwhile Xander tries to ask Buffy out. Another cheerleader Cordelia becomes suddenly blind during a driving lesson. Giles suspects that Amy may be a witch and when they perform a test it proves true. Still, Buffy is unsure when she sees Amy's horrified expression at the incidents. At Amy's home, Amy returns is seen holding Buffy's bracelet - next victim. Buffy is put on the team but during practice she acts drunk and sick, thus Amy is put. Buffy becomes weak so Giles carries her over to Amy's house. Inside they find her mother whom Buffy discovers is actually Amy in her mother's body. Her mother has stolen her body so she could relive her teen yrs. At school Amy is on the team at a game. In the science lab, 'Amy's mother' and Giles cure and Buffy and try to reverse the body switching spell. At the game, 'Amy'  weakens from the reversal spell and rushes out to kill Buffy. The spell is reversed and Amy's mother begins casting a dark spell and releases the energy on Buffy but Buffy kicks a mirror which reflects the spell onto Amy's mother. Next day, they walk by the trophy case but do not notice as the eyes on the cheerleading trophy move around frantically...
6.4 Teacher's Pet Written by: David Greenwalt

After Buffy's biology teacher Dr Gregory is attacked by a giant praying mantis, a substitute Ms French arrives and seems to make all the guys trip over. She tells the class that she needs volunteers for making a model in the science and all the boy's hands shoot up including Xander. She chooses a jock for the first afternoon then Xander for the next. Next day Cordelia discovers Dr Gregory's headless body in the freezer. Buffy stakes out the park and sees a vamp with a claw in place of his hand. The vamp stalks Ms French but then runs away in terror. Buffy watches as Ms French's head turns around 360... She and Giles then conclude that she must be the praying mantis and hear that the volunteer jock has disappeared. Buffy warns Xander but he brushes her off and goes to volunteer that afternoon. At the sub's house Xander is drugged and dragged down to the cell in her basement. Giles finds that Ms French is a She-Mantis who lures virgin males then kills them. Giles gets a bat sonar recording which will hopefully distract the Mantis, while Buffy uses Claw vamp to find Ms French. When they find the house Buffy dusts him and finds Ms French is full mantis mode. Using the recording, Buffy distracts her until it is too late and Ms French is killed with a machete. Next day, unsuspectingly we find in Dr Gregory's closet a nest of eggs begin to hatch...

6.5 Never Kill A Boy on the First Date  Written by: David Greenwalt

While training last night Buffy and Giles discover an engraved ring. Meanwhile at the Master's lair, he prophesizes that the Anointed One (Master's most powerful warrior and Slayer's greatest foe) will rise from the ashes of five dead people. Next day, Buffy is asked out by the shy and literary Owen, but Giles intervenes by showing that the ring is linked with a prophecy tonight. That night she patrols but finds nothing, while someplace else a van crashes. Five passengers survive but are killed by vampires. Owen and Buffy try once again to go out, but Giles hears of the accident and that one of the passengers was a wanted murderer. Giles believes that he is the Anointed One and leaves Buffy on the date , instead taking Willow and Xander to the morgue. At the morgue, Giles is trapped by vamps so Willow and Xander rush to find Buffy. Speaking in code, they tell her to go there for a dare and find Owen following them. While Buffy looks for the body, the vamp murderer rises attacking Owen, Willow and Xander. Owen tries to fight but is overcome easily. Buffy fights and throws the vamp into the cremation fire. Next day Owen is excited for their next date, but Buffy tells him 'lets be friend' to stop him getting killed. We then see the Master in his lair greeting the Anointed One who was actually a 8 year old boy from the accident.

6.6 The Pack Written by: Rob Des Hotel and Dean Batali
On a excursion to the zoo, there is a new exhibit of hyenas marked 'No Admittance.' The 'cool' crowd after teasing Buffy and a shy bookworm break in to the exhibit, forcing the shy student as well. Xander follows to rescue the student, while Buffy hears the zookeeper explain that he believes the hyena can understand humans and lures them to their death by calling their names. Back in the exhibit, the crowd sneak a look at the hyenas and suddenly all their eyes flash yellow including Xander. The rest of the gang notice Xander's strange behavior and also the other students when they start acting aggressively, walking around in a pack and preying on students. Giles suspect that Xander is merely acting like a 16yr old boy, but soon the school mascot pig is eaten. When Xander tries to force himself on Buffy he is caught and locked in the library cage. The rest of the pack meanwhile eats poor Principle Flutie and searches for their missing member. They find Willow watching Xander and call out to her. Willow runs away and Xander is released by his pack. Meanwhile Giles contacts the zookeeper believing that the hyenas have possessed the students and meets at the exhibit to reverse it. Buffy then tracks the pack and lures them back to the exhibit. Willow arrives there to find the zookeeper ready but Giles knocked unconscious. We discover that the zookeeper actually wanted the hyena power for himself and holds Willow hostage. The hyena spirits are transferred to the zookeeper and the students return to normal. Willow is rescued by Xander while Buffy quickly throws the zookeeper into the hyena pen and is devoured by them. The next day Xander claims he doesn't remember but Giles comments that there is no amnesia during animal possession...
6.7 Angel Written by: David Greenwalt
Buffy becomes more annoyed at Angel's mysterious identity but still has an attraction for him. Xander on the other hand is frustrated by not being noticed by Buffy. The Master sends vamps to kill Buffy and Angel comes to the rescue. They escape to her house where Buffy helps bandage Angel's wound from the battle. She sees a tattoo on his back, just as her mother comes home. She sends her 'tutor' out the door but takes him upstairs secretly if the vamps are still outside. He spends the night there. Next day she returns to still find him in her room. They kiss but then to her horror he vamps out the jumps out the window. At school, the gang research to find that Angel is the vampire Angelus who was a violent and evil vampire about 250 yrs old.  Back in Angel's room, Angel's ex Darla comes in trying lure Angel to follow the Master. He says he has changed but Darla opens his fridge and finds bags of blood. Next day at Buffy's house Darla is invited in by her mother whom she feeds on. Angel comes to help, while Darla escapes so Buffy finds her injured mother in Angel's hold. Upset, but determined she vows to kill Angel. Angel and Buffy go to a showdown fight, while at the hospital the gang find that Darla was there. Unable to kill each other in the fight, Darla steps in with guns. Willow arrives and tells Buffy that Angel did not feed on Joyce. After a fight, Angel stakes a surprised Darla. Next day at the Bronze Buffy and Angel kiss  and he leaves with a cross burned on his chest from Buffy's necklace.

I Robot You Jane Written by: Ashley Gable and Tom Swyden

A group of monks chant to trap a demon into a book. Ms Calendar and Willow help Giles scan some new books for the library, but unknowingly unleash a demon Moloch onto the net. The demon causes chaos on the net while recruiting nerds with promises of love. Meanwhile Willow begins blowing off classes to chat with her new boyfriend Malcolm whom she has never met. Buffy becomes concerned and is almost killed when the demon orders one of his followers to kill her for coming close to their operation. Willow becomes scared when she keeps getting emails from Malcolm wanting to meet her. She is kidnapped to a warehouse where Moloch is building a body to transfer from the net. Giles  notices the chaos and discovers that Malcolm is actually Moloch. He enlists help from Ms Calendar who is actually a techno pagan. Buffy and Xander meanwhile try to rescue Willow who meets 'Malcolm' in his new body. Ms Calendar and Giles perform a spell to return Moloch to the book, but actually moves him fully into his new body. Buffy fights Moloch and who is electrocuted and blows up. Next day Willow, Xander and Buffy joke about how they will never have a normal relationship.
6.9 The Puppet Show Written by: Rob Des Hotel and Dean Batali

Giles is supervising the Annual Talent Show, while the gang find themselves 'volunteering' for it. When one of the performers is found killed with her heart ripped out, the gang begin suspecting a  weird ventriloquist Morgan who carries a haunting dummy called Sid. But the next day they find Morgan dead with his brain missing and Buffy investigates. Buffy is backstage when she is attacked by Sid the dummy who they discover is possessed by a demon hunter who kills a group of seven demons who every seven years need a heart and brain to keep a human façade. He needs to kill this last one then his spirit can move on. The two decide to work together but soon find Morgan's brain left on a shelf. They discover that Morgan had brain cancer so the demon still needs a brain. They assume that the demon will be looking for a young smart person so they guard Willow. Meanwhile at the rehearsal, Giles is helping a boy with a magic trick where they use a guillotine to cut Giles's head. Unknowingly this is the actual demon. The gang figure this out and fight with the demon. Buffy decapitates the demon while Sid kills him and his spirit leaves the dummy. That night the reluctant gang perform a Shakespeare part on stage with Willow leaving hyperventilating.

6.10 Nightmares Written by: David Greenwalt
Buffy is having a nightmare about being killed, turned into a vampire and being alive. Next day at school a student who has a phobia of spiders is attacked by them in class. Everyone's nightmares and phobia's start coming true while Buffy notices a mysterious young boy hanging around. Cordelia comes to school with bad hair, Giles can't read and finds Buffy's grave, Xander becomes naked in class and is chased by a clown, Willow is forced to sing opera on a stage and Buffy is buried alive, told by her father that she was the cause of the divorce and turned into a vampire. Buffy finds the connection is the young boy, Billy, and discovers that he is causing them unintentionally. He is being chased by a monster that wants to kill him and that he is actually a subconscious form of himself, who is in a coma after being abused by his little league coach after a lost game. Buffy tries to fight the monster but it is too strong. The gang meet up with her to go to the hospital to wake up Billy. The monster follows them there and vamp Buffy fights it down and lets Billy kill it himself- facing his fear. Everything is reversed and Billy wakes up just as the coach walks in to check on him. Billy confronts the coach. Next day Buffy sees her father again for a weekend visit.
6.11 Invisible Girl Written by: Ashley Gable and Tom Swyden
The Sunnydale spring fling is nearing when Cordelia's boyfriend is mysteriously attacked by a floating baseball bat leaving a message- look. Giles believes this is a ghost or spirit. Then Cordelia's best friend is pushed by nothing down a flight of stairs. Willow looks up a list of missing kids who might be the ghost, while Angel appears sensing danger. Cordelia is elected May Queen while they find a girl Marcie Ross who may be the ghost. Buffy discovers a nest in the school where Marcie who is apparently invisible from being ignored is living. When Cordelia's teacher is almost suffocated by a floating bag with another message- listen, she comes to the gang for help. Buffy suspect that the Spring Fling will be the time Marcie may attack for being ignored by the 'cool' crowd. Cordelia is used as bait and kidnapped by Marcie while Buffy is drugged. Meanwhile the gang are led to a room by Marcie's flute music and trapped with a gas leak. Buffy awakens to find her and Cordelia tied to chairs with Cordelia's face anesthetized and one final message- learn. Marcie reveals that she is going to give  Cordelia a new face revealing surgical instruments. Cordelia's cheek is cut but Buffy breaks free. They fight but Buffy can't see her until she drops a curtain on Marcie. FBI agents enter saying that they will take it from here. Marcie is then seen led to a classroom with other invisible people. She opens the textbook to a chapter on assassination...
6.12 Prophecy Girl Written by: Joss Whedon

As vampires become more rowdy and odd occurrences become frequent, Xander practices his speech to ask Buffy out. She turns him down.  After a good night of slayage, Buffy returns to the library finding Angel and Giles talking about an impending apocalypse. She overhears that there is a prophecy that she will face the Master and she will die. Horrified she becomes angry and quits the job. Another odd occurrence occurs when a school room is found with dead students, scaring Willow who found them. Deciding that she must stop the Master to protect her friends she dresses up in her prom dress and gathers her crossbow. Giles tries to stop her but is knocked out. The Anointed One leads her to the Master's lair, while Xander gets Angel to help find Buffy. She tries to fight the Master but is bitten and dropped into a pool of water. The Master tells her that it was her blood that actually gave him power to rise to the earth. Angel and Xander find her and give her CPR. She coughs and comes back to life with renewed energy. Back in the library the gang try to fight off vampires when a huge monster burst from the floor of the library (the center of the hellmouth.) Buffy reaches the top where she find the master looking through the glass top of the library. She throws him down through the roof onto a sharp piece of wood. He is dusted leaving a skeleton and the monsters are forced to retreat. Sunnydale is saved and the gang go out and party!
