| In Sunnydale, the gang try unsuccessfully to fill in for Buffy on patrol. Buffy is in LA working as a waitress as Anne when she meets a couple, Lily and Rickie with matching tattoos. Buffy has dreams of Angel. Giles tries to find Buffy but fails. Joyce blames Giles over Buffy being the Slayer. After work Buffy sees Lily who reminds her that she was part of Ford's cult. During their chat, a old man walks up saying 'I'm no one.' Buffy meets a man, Ken who hands a flyer for Family Home. At work Lily comes again asking for help as Rickie has gone missing. Buffy goes to the blood bank where they help out and find he hasn't been there. She then finds a dead old man who strangely has the same tattoo as Rickie. Lily is shocked and blames Buffy. She goes out and meets Ken who tells her that Rickie is with them. Buffy goes to the blood bank and finds a file of Rickie with a Candidate stamp. The doctor finally confesses and tells her to go to Family Home. There she finds Lily in front of a pool with Ken. They all fall in and are captured by Ken who turns out to be a demon who enslaves runaways to do labor. In a cell Lily says that they are in Hell when Ken explains they are in another dimension where time moves rapidly. Buffy realizes that the old people she saw were former slaves. Taken out they are asked what their name is. The slaves quickly learn it is 'I am no one.' except for Buffy who says I'm Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy fights the demon guards and escape with other slaves. They lift a gate just as Ken tackles them. The gate falls on his legs trapping him as Buffy smashes his skull in. They escape out of the pool as it disappears. Buffy goes home giving her name and apartment to Lily. Joyce opens the door to find Buffy standing there. | |

| When Buffy finishes unpacking she sees her mom hanging up a Nigerian Mask and she goes out to see the gang. She sees a shadow and she attacks thinking its a vamp but it turns out to be Xander. They are attacked by a real vamp and the rest of the gang come to help. Buffy finishes the vamp off and greets her friends. After a chat she makes plans with Willow. Next day Snyder refuses to let Buffy back into school. Willow never shows up to Buffy's plans. Buffy returns home to meet Pat, Joyce's new friend as her mom tells her that they invited the gang over for dinner. In the basement Buffy finds a dead stray cat and buries it. At night the mask starts glowing and the cat claws its way up. Buffy has a dream of walking into the empty campus and finding Angel. Buffy finds the stray cat and captures in a cage for Giles. Buffy offers to come help with research but Giles tells her that she isn't allowed on school grounds. The gang plan the dinner and soon they have planned a full out party with Oz's band. Giles fails to notice a picture of the same mask in his book. Pat arrives for dinner followed by the band and other people Buffy don't even know. She tries to have quality talk with Willow and Xander but they seem too wrapped up in the party. She then overhears her mum talk about what a burden her coming back was. Upset, Buffy goes upstairs and starts packing her stuff again. Giles finds the text on the mask and rushes over to Buffy's house. He runs over a man and when he gets out the car he finds there are tons of dead people walking towards Buffy's house. Willow finds Buffy packing and starts arguing when Joyce comes in as well. Their argument takes them downstairs in the middle of the party. Suddenly the zombies burst in. They rush upstairs to the room with the mask. Willow finds Pat dead in the room. Giles comes and explains that the zombies are after the mask and whoever puts it on becomes the demon Ovu Mobani. Pat suddenly rises and puts on the mask. Buffy tries to fight but is stunned by a flash of light from the mask. Oz tells her that to kill the demon you have to stab at its eye. Using a shovel she kills it and the gang finally forgive each other. At the coffee shop, Willow and Buffy have quality talk about guys and magic. Next day Giles threatens Snyder who finally lets Buffy back in. | |

A lime goes through a drive in and pick up their food and the employee. Inside is two vamps, one with cloven hoofs as they talk about Buffy. Buffy dreams of dancing with Angel when he starts bleeding where she killed him. At the library Giles explains he needs to do a binding spell on Acathla and needs to know everything about how Buffy stopped it. Buffy tells him but leaves out about Angel's soul being restored. At the Bronze the gang follow a wildly dancing couple whom Buffy suspects one is a vamp. Ready to fight, they are shocked when the girl stakes the vamp herself introducing herself as Faith, Kendra's replacement. While they chat Buffy feels left out as Faith describes her wild tales and adventures. Faith tells them that her Watcher is on a retreat. Buffy invites Faith for dinner. Meanwhile Kakistos the cloven hoof vamp vows to kill Faith who gave his a scar on his eye. At dinner Joyce talks with Buffy about how Faith could take over Slaying since she seems to like it so much. Buffy and Faith go out to patrol and have and argument over each other's attitude. They are attacked and Buffy is pinned down by a vamp saying Kakistos. She calls for Faith who is totally absorbed in pounding a vamp. Next day Buffy tells Giles about Faith and Kakistos. Giles explains that Kakistos is a vamp so old his hands are hoofs and rings up Faith's Watcher. Buffy is asked out by Scott Hope who gives her a ring- exactly like Angel's. Shocked she drops it as Scott runs off hurt. Giles tells her that Faith's Watcher isn't there, she's dead. Buffy goes to Faith's place and mentions Kakistos. Faith starts packing to leave and explains that her Watcher was killed by him, when Kakistos and his gang come in. Buffy and Faith escape to a warehouse but find it was a trap. Faith is scared unable to fight as Buffy jumps in to stake him. The stake doesn't reach his heart as he is too strong. Faith picks up a huge piece of wood and stakes him. Faith is put under Giles's care until a new Watcher comes. Buffy finally tells the gang about Angel. Buffy remakes her plans with Scott and goes to Angel, Spike and Dru's place. She leaves his ring there on the ground. After she leaves a huge light shines and a naked Angel is dropped onto the ground, brought back from Hell... |

One night when it's Oz's werewolf nights, Xander keeps watch but accidentally falls asleep. That night a boy is mauled to death by an animal. Giles and Xander suspect that Oz got out through a open window in the cage. Meanwhile, Buffy meets with her counselor to talk about running away and Angel. The gang go to the morgue to investigate the body while Buffy goes on patrol for a possible other murderer and leaves Oz under Faith's watch. Buffy is shocked when she finds the savage Angel who attacks her. She chains him up unable to touch or communicate with him. She stays at the library reading about Acathla and demon dimensions when Giles returns in the morning. Giles tells her when she ask him that time moves rapidly there so Angel would have experienced 100 yrs of torture. Anyone who returns would be mentally unstable and savage. She goes to her counselor for help but finds him mauled to death in his seat. Meanwhile friends of Scott, Debbie and Pete make out in a room until he finds a jar with only a little bit of green chemical left. He becomes very angry with Debbie for taking it and changes into a monster. He hits her but then returns to normal. She instantly forgives him. Oz talks to Debbie and notices her bruise while Pete watches from a distant. They now know Oz is innocent and link the deaths to Debbie. They confront her but she is loyal. Angel manages to escape from his chains. Meanwhile Pete out of jealousy attacks Oz in his monster form until Oz changes into a werewolf and gains the advantage. The Gang capture Oz while Buffy chases Pete. She finds Pete with Debbie's dead body. They fight and when she is about to be mauled Angel appears and kills Pete like an animal. Stunned Buffy watches as Angel gets ready to attack her. When he reaches her he falls to the ground recognizing her. |

| Buffy tells Angel about Scott being reliable when the next day he dumps her. Meanwhile Cordelia is busy planning for Homecoming Queen. The whole gang take their yearbook photos but Buffy is missing so they tell Cordelia to tell Buffy about it. Too busy she forgets and Buffy becomes angry at Cordelia's self centered attitude. Buffy is sad that she'll never be remembered. Buffy then decides to try for Homecoming Queen to spite Cordelia. When Buffy fully organizes he friends to help she finds them instantly leaving her because they are helping Cordelia instead. Meanwhile, Mr Trick is planning Slayerfest 98 a competition for vamps, humans and demons to hunt down the Slayers. The teams include vamps Lyle and Candy Gorch, two Nazi soldiers, a hunter with traps and a Kulak demon. When Willow and Xander try on their suits and dresses they are surprisingly attracted to each other to their dismay, even kissing. Buffy in her dress gets in the limo to find Cordelia instead of Faith before picking up the rest of the gang. They find a note saying to work things out. They are driven to a secluded area where the driver instantly runs off. They find a laptop, playing a video of Mr Trick who informs them of Slayerfest. The two whom they thinks are two Slayers are hunted by each team. They manage to trap the hunter in his own trap and are driven to a cabin by the Kulak demon. Cordelia tries unsuccessfully to help when a bomb is thrown in by the Germans. The demon is trapped as the cabin explodes. Meanwhile at the prom, Willow and Xander sit sadly wondering where Buffy and Cordelia are. They manage to run to the library to Giles who has been knocked down by the two vamps. In their torn dresses Buffy dusts Candy while Cordelia manages to scare Lyle off. They discover that they are being tracked with bugs in their corsages by the Germans. Buffy grabs the corsages and plants them so the two Germans kill each other. They arrive late at Homecoming totally trashed as they await the announcement. Their is a tie and to their dismay it is neither one of them and they leave disappointed. | |

| Buffy studies for her SAT test while the Mayor asks Mr Trick for help to pay tribute to a demon. Next day at school, the gang are once again 'volunteered' for selling candy for band money. Buffy sells some to her mother before getting into a argument over letting Buffy drive. Buffy goes out telling her mother that she is training with Giles. Buffy trains for a short time then leaves telling Giles she has to go home to Joyce. She then visits Angel and returns home to find Joyce and Giles waiting eating the candy. Arguing with each other Buffy tells them that she can't handle both of them with Slaying and studying. Meanwhile the same candy is being packaged by Ethan Rayne. At school, Giles never comes and their sub starts acting very immature. Buffy goes over to Giles's house to find her mother there with Giles talking about Buffy. Joyce then hands the keys to the car to her carelessly, surprising Buffy. Driving out of control with Willow to the Bronze they find that lots of adults including teachers are there dancing, smoking and partying. Meanwhile, Joyce and Giles smoke and relax listening to music before heading out. Giles even steals a coat for Joyce. Buffy and the gang leave the Bronze horrified, driving off with Snyder who tags along. When Snyder's candy is stolen and he makes a fuss about it Buffy realizes there must be something wrong with it. Willow and Xander go to the library while Buffy and Snyder head to the candy factory. At the factory she shockingly finds Giles and Joyce making out. Grabbing the both of them she shoves her way into the factory. There she finds Ethan who reluctantly explains that he was to distract the adults so they could make a tribute to a demon Lurconis. The gang find that the demon feeds on babies but is too late discovering that the vampires have already taken them. In the sewers they fight the Mayor's vamps including Mr Trick. Buffy creates a huge blowtorch from a fuel line and kills Lurconis. Next day Snyder and all adults are back to normal. Buffy tells Giles that she is relieved that she got to the both of them before they actually did anything while Giles blushes behind her. | |

The gang talk about how Buffy might have a new guy while Buffy and Faith dust a vamp with Giles watching. Then a woman steps in commenting on their sloppiness. The gang learn that Gwendolyn Post is Faith's new Watcher who becomes a rival for Giles by questioning his teachings and credentials as a Watcher. She informs them of the demon Lagos who is after the Glove of Myhnegon. Buffy nearly kisses Angel during training while the gang research and Willow and Xander kiss behind the stacks. Xander goes to the cemetery where the Glove may be hidden in a mausoleum. Shocked he finds Buffy kissing Angel. After he leaves they pull apart ashamed and Angel shows her the Glove. Buffy arrives at the library with new of the Glove but finds everyone sitting and staring at her. They reveal that they know about Angel and they break out into a fight before Giles sends them to class. Giles reminds her of when Angel tortured him. Meanwhile, Post tells Faith about Buffy's Scooby Gang meetings. At the mausoleum Buffy and Willow wait for Lagos while Faith learns from a angry Xander about Angel. At the library Post asks where the Glove is then knocks Giles out. Just as Willow is about to confide with Buffy about Xander and her Lagos appears and Buffy kills it. Xander and Faith decide to kill Angel but arrive at the library to find Giles bleeding. Thinking it was Angel Faith rushes off. Meanwhile Angel creates the living flame but is knocked down by Post. Angel gets back up vamped and knocks her down just as Faith appears. Thinking that Angel is evil they start fighting. Faith is about to stake Angel just as Buffy stops her and the two fight. Meanwhile Post grabs the glove and puts it on, chanting. Using the Glove she shoots lightning at the Slayers who run out of the way, then Willow who is saved by Angel. Buffy uses a shard of glass and throws it cutting Post's arm off. The lightning then strikes again at her this time and disintegrates her. Giles tells them that Post was kicked out of the Watcher's Council years ago for misuse of power. Buffy visits Faith telling her that she can trust her but Faith seems even more distant and untrusting as ever. |

| Buffy receives surprisingly high SAT scores and thinks about her future. A car drive right through the Sunnydale High School sign and out rolls a familiar figure- Spike. Next day at school Willow, Oz, Xander and Cordelia plan a double date. Cordelia shows photos of the gang in her locker and Oz gives Willow a present. Willow becomes worried about the double date. In the library, Giles is packing for a Watcher's retreat and comments that Buffy can leave to many schools and Faith can look after Sunnydale. Meanwhile, the Mayor receives news of Spike's return and sends a vampire committee. Buffy and her mom are at home discussing colleges and her mom persists at the further colleges. A drunken Spike watches Angel and is nearly burnt by the sun. He goes to a magic shop to look for a love spell to do on Drusilla who has left him after Sunnydale. He sees Willow, who is buying ingredients for a de-lusting spell for her and Xander, and decides to use her to do it. Meanwhile, Willow and Xander are doing the spell while waiting for the others for their date. Suddenly Willow and Xander are kidnapped by Spike. In a old factory, Spike orders Willow to make a love spell on Dru but she says that she needs more ingredients and the book. Oz and Cordelia burst into the library worried about their missing ones. Buffy talks on the phone with her mom and hears Spikes voice. She rushes home. Meanwhile Spike and Joyce chat about Dru, drinking coffee. Angel sees Spike but can't get in. Joyce refuses to let him in unaware that Angel is good and that Spike is a vampire. Buffy comes in and threatens Spike until he tells her he is holding Willow and Xander hostage. Angel and Buffy are forced to help him gather the rest of the ingredients but are stopped by the Mayor's vamp committee. After the fight, Spike realizes that the only way to get Dru back is to be the man he was. He leaves renewed with purpose. Xander wakes up in the factory injured alone with Willow and the two finally make out. Meanwhile, Cordelia and Oz track them by using Oz's werewolf smell. The two rush in to rescue them finding Willow and Xander making out. Oz is shocked and Cordelia runs out. The stairs break suddenly dropping Cordelia onto a jagged edge where she is impaled. Next day at the hospital, Xander brings Cordelia flowers but is rejected by her saying 'Stay away from me.' Meanwhile Buffy decides to stop seeing Angel because she knows they'll never just be friends. | |

| A embarrassed Cordelia returns to school after being in the hospital and is teased by her friends pretend to help he find a new guy- Jonathon. We also meet a new student Anya who befriends Cordelia. Willow tries to patch things up with Oz but he tells her that he needs some time. At the Bronze, Buffy notices Cordelia leaving suddenly and decides to talk to her. They are attacked by vamps and Cordelia is pushed by Buffy into a pile of trash. Next day Cordelia vents all her anger to Anya and comes to the conclusion that Buffy was the start of all her troubles. Anya offers her necklace as a good luck charm just as Cordelia declares 'I wish Buffy Summers had never come to Sunnydale.' Anya then turns into a veiny demon and says 'Done'. A bright light flashes. She realizes that Anya must be some fairy that grants wishes. Her friends come over greeting and complimenting her. However she soon discovers that there is a curfew at sunset, Bronze is no longer popular and Willow and Xander are dead. Confused she wanders the streets after sunset and sees Xander and Willow, telling them to get Buffy but soon discovers that they are still together and vamps. She runs off and is saved by a group called White Hats including Giles, Oz, Larry and Nancy. Meanwhile, Xander and Willow vamps return to the Bronze which is now the Master's lair. He orders them to kill Cordelia as she knows of the Slayer. At the library, Cordelia tells them to get Buffy but none of them know her. Unknowingly Willow and Xander vamp sneak in, locking Giles in the cage and kill Cordelia. Giles escapes too late and Oz and Larry return to help bury Cordelia but not before Giles removes her necklace. Meanwhile Willow goes to play with Angel who she calls the 'puppy.' Giles finds that the necklace is Anyanka's a vengeance demon for wronged women. He calls up Buffy's Watcher in Cleveland. Giles goes out to find vamps capturing more humans when they are stopped by a girl- Buffy Summers. We find that this Buffy Summers is like Faith and never had friends like Willow and Xander. Giles tells her of Anyanka but she decides to go out to kill the Master. She goes to the Bronze, meets Angel who is locked up and frees him and watches the Master. The Master shows off his new device that can just suck the blood through tubes like mass production. Around are humans locked in cages like cattle. Buffy and Angel begin fighting. Angel is killed by Xander who is killed by Buffy. Oz ironically kills Willow. This is all in slow-motion. Meanwhile Giles summons Anyanka and steals her necklace smashing just as Buffy is killed by the Master again. Back to reality, Cordelia is still standing in front of the school. Anya keeps saying done and soon realizes she has lost her powers. | |

Just as it is nearly Christmas Angel begins having nightmares of reliving his past murders when he had no soul. He runs into Buffy but runs off when he sees a victim who he killed years ago right in front of him. Buffy tells her friends of Angel's behavior as Oz decides to give Willow another chance. While shopping for a Christmas tree, Buffy comes across a group of dead ones. Buffy invites Faith over for Christmas but she is turned down. Angel seeks Giles for help who grudgingly invites him in. Angel asks him why he isn't in Hell when he runs out disturbed by Jenny who is invisible to Giles. Later Angel and Buffy have the same dream of him killing a maid. Angel then is haunted by the ghosts of those he killed while Buffy tells he gang of her dream. While researching Buffy falls asleep and has another dream with Angel. They are sleeping together when she sees a man with no eyes and Angel then bites her. Angel is haunted by Jenny who tells him that he must sleep with Buffy and then kill her or he'll always be haunted. Giles finds that the man with no eyes in her dream are the Harbringers, priests to summon the First which is the first evil. They learn from Willy that the Harbringers are underground. Meanwhile Willow invites Oz over then tells him that she's ready for them to go to the next level but he declines saying that she doesn't have to prove anything. Faith decides to have Christmas with the Buffy. Buffy finds a delusional Angel who is tempted by Jenny. Frustrated he jumps through the window and tells the haunting spirits that he's going to kill himself at sunrise. Buffy learns that nothing will live above or below the Harbringers and she goes back to the dead trees. She stops the Harbringers and confronts the First who tells her that Angel will die. She finds Angel watching dawn and tries to bring him inside. The two then have a fight and Angel tells her that he wants to die because he knows he will kill her. They are stopped in their argument when snowflakes begin falling down. Soon weather reports say that because of the snowfall there will be no sun today as the two stroll through the streets together. |

| When Joyce decides to accompany Buffy on patrol she finds the bodies of two little kids with a symbol inscribed on their palms. Joyce is very distressed as Giles says that it may be the work of a cult. Joyce unexpectedly organizes a meeting about the incident which is all over the news. After a long speech Joyce steps up for a moment of silence but surprisingly calls for action to take back Sunnydale from the vampires, demons and Slayers. Meanwhile, Willow, Amy and Michael perform a spell with the same symbol on the floor. Giles thinks it may be the work of witches when Buffy finds Willow's notes with the same symbol on it. Before Willow can explain, the school gathers around the lockers where the police are searching lockers for signs of witchcraft. Willow explains that the symbol is harmless just for a protection spell for Buffy when she and Amy are escorted away by the police. In the library the police are also packing away Giles's books as she tells him of the symbol. Buffy learns that the movement (MOO- Mothers Opposed to the Occult) is doing this and it is led by Joyce. Buffy argues with her mother about taking away Giles's books then rushes off. Joyce then talks to the apparitions of the two dead kids who urge her to punish the witches. Buffy then talks to Angel about Joyce saying that Slaying was useless when she realizes that they don't know anything about the kids. Willow is grounded by her mother as the gang research on the net about the kids. They find that the kids have no names or parents and finds that the similar incident happened again and again over the past years. Looking at the pictures they find they are the same kids and Giles deduces that they must be like Hansel and Gretel as many demons are based on fairy tales. Michael bursts in to say that he was attacked by his family and that Amy was taken. Willow is meanwhile taken by her own mother and MOOs. Buffy and Giles find her mom but she is taken and Giles is knocked unconscious as the Hansel and Gretel kids urges them. Giles is woken by Cordelia and the two drive to City Hall as he tries to mix a spell to reveal the children's true demon form. Willow, Amy and Buffy are tied to stakes surrounded by a mob of their parents. Amy turns herself into a rat to escape. Just as the flames reach them Cordelia puts out the fire while Giles reveals the demon. The parents broken from the spell run. Buffy breaks the stake she's still tied to just as the demon rushes over and impales it. The parents seem to have forgotten everything as Willow tries unsuccessfully to derat Amy. | |

| Buffy tells Giles about her dad taking her to the ice show for her birthday as she stares at the crystals. That night she is almost staked by a vampire with her own stake. As Buffy throws knives blindly Giles reassures her that she hasn't lost her powers. At homes she sadly finds that her dad has cancelled their plans. Meanwhile in a abandoned building Quentin Travers and two men block the doors of the building. Next day she tries to ask subtly for Giles to come but he misses the point. She studies a crystal and becomes entranced. Giles then injects her with a chemical and hides it before breaking the trance. Unaware, Buffy tries to save Cordelia from a guy but ends up being saved by Cordelia. She tries to tell Giles but he blows it off. Later Giles argues to Quentin about the Watcher's Council Cruciamentum where they take away the Slayer's powers and pits her against a vampire testing her instinctive skills. The vampire is Kralik who is insane and fed pills. The two men watch over Kralik who tricks one into coming too close and feeds on him. Kralik breaks his restraints while the turned watchman helps him out. Angel tells Buffy that he saw and loved her even before she was a Slayer. Giles finds Kralik gone. Buffy encounters Kralik and runs unable to fight. She is saved by Giles who drives up to her. Giles tells her everything and she is angry and feels betrayed. She goes home to find that Joyce has been abducted by Kralik and tracks him down. Buffy confronts Kralik with no super powers at all, but manages to trick him into drinking holy water. Next day, Travers congratulates Buffy on passing but that Giles has shown a emotional relationship with the Slayer and is fired. | |

| The gang defeat some demons while Xander is unable to help. They worry that he could get hurt. Xander is bullied by Jack O'Toole and is told by Cordelia that he doesn't have anything to help the gang with because he's so useless without any powers. He tries to be cool and gets a car which attracts a girl. Meanwhile the gang prepare for the Sisterhood of Jhe who will try to open the Hellmouth. They decide not to tell Xander to save him from being hurt. Xander crashes into Jack's car at the Bronze. Jack threatens him with a knife until a guard comes. Xander covers up for Jack who decides that Xander can be part of his gang. They go to the graveyard where Jack revives 3 of his dead buddies and they go out together. They want to make Xander part of their gang so he has to be dead. Xander drives off and finds they are making a bomb. Xander saves Faith from a demon and they go to her apartment. They sleep together and afterwards he gets tossed out. He finds the dead gang and kills one of them after finding out where they are putting the bomb. At school. He goes there where he confronts the dead gang while the Scooby Gang are fighting monsters coming out of the Hellmouth. Two other dead buddies are killed by Xander and demons. Xander confronts Jack who is in the boiler with the bomb. They circle around each other with the bomb ticking. Xander tells Jack that he isn't afraid of dying while Jack's eyes flick back and forth. Not allowing Jack to leave, Jack finally stops the bomb afraid of being blown up. Xander is proud of proving himself and leaves. Jack leaves ready for revenge as Oz burst through the door as a werewolf and eats him. Next day, the gang have no idea that Xander saved the world and Oz comments on how full he feels. | The Slayers fight against sword-wielding vampires. Willow shows off her uni acceptances. The Slayers meet their new Watcher, Wesley. He tells them the vampires are the El Eliminati who work for a demon Balthazar who is now dead. The Slayers decide to go off and defeat the El Eliminati without any plans. Buffy admits to Faith that slaying can give her a rush. They show Wesley an amulet the vampires were stealing. In class Buffy excitedly tells her friends of last night and then sneaks out the window with Faith leaving Xander and Willow shocked. The Slayers battle some vampires then party out in the Bronze. Angel tells Buffy that Balthazar is still alive and she gives the amulet to him for safe keeping. The Slayers spy on the vampires with their master who is obese and ugly. Faith convinces Buffy to break into a shop to steal weapons. They are caught by the police but escape. The Mayor captures one of the vampires. Faith interrupts Buffy and Willow hanging out and Willow is left alone. Giles and Wesley are captured by Balthazar's minions. The Slayers fight some vampire when the Deputy Mayor walks up. Thinking he is a vampire Faith stakes him in the heart. Realizing he will not turn to dust he dies instantly. Faith and Buffy are shocked and upset running from the scene. Angel finds Buffy and notices the blood. Wesley cowardly decides to save himself by telling Balthazar where the amulet is. Buffy and Angel kill Balthazar who dies saying that a greater enemy's ascension is coming. Meanwhile the Mayor performs a ritual. The vampire is let loose and cuts the Mayor's head in half. He regenerates back together and is now invincible for the next 100 days. Buffy tries to talk with Faith about what they did but Faith brushes it aside. Upset by Faith's lack of guilt she finds that Faith has dumped the body. When Buffy tries to get Faith to confront her actions Faith tells Buffy that Buffy doesn't get it. She doesn't care. | |

| Wesley tells the Slayers to investigate the Deputy's murder. Buffy tries to convince Faith to come clean but Faith refuses. The Mayor shred all of the Deputy's shady files. The Slayers go to see why the Deputy might have been in that alley but find nothing. Faith is convinced that being a Slayer puts them above the law. Buffy and Faith are questioned by the police but say nothing. Buffy confesses to Willow. Buffy finds that Faith told Giles that Buffy killed the Deputy but Giles doesn't believe Faith. Wesley overhears and calls the Council. The gang talk about how to confront Faith. Xander goes to talk to her believing he has a bond with her since they slept together. Faith however begins to strangle him but is knocked down by Angel. Faith is chained up and Angel tries to get through to her. He says he knows what it is like to take a life. Suddenly Wesley and some men burst in to take Faith to England for sentencing. They capture Faith who escapes soon. Buffy goes to the docks where Faith is trying to flee. They are interrupted by Mr Trick and vampires. Buffy is knocked down and about to be killed. Faith saves her. Later Buffy tells them that there is still hope for Faith because she saved her. Meanwhile Faith meets the Mayor saying that since Mr Trick is dead he will have a job opening. The Mayor lets her in happily. | |

| Anya fails to convince D'Hoffryn to change the past so she can be a demon again. Willow is ordered by Snyder to tutor Percy a star athlete with history. She tries to hack the Mayor's files and Faith reports this to the Mayor. He gives her a new spacious apartment. Willow is upset when Oz presumes that she wouldn't have wanted to come to his gig and miss school and when she tries to tutor Percy but he just orders her to do the work for him. Upset she meets Buffy who comments on her being reliable. Fed up with being the reliable good girl she storms off. She meets Anya who convinces her to do a spell to find Anya's necklace. During the spell Willow sees the bizarro world and accidentally pours the sand on herself. Meanwhile Bizarro-Willow is torn from that world just before Oz dusts her and tossed into this world. Bizarro-Willow is confused at this world and heads for the Bronze. There she chokes Percy who assumes he is Willow until Xander steps in. Bizarro-Willow figures out that Xander is alive and recognizes Buffy. She snarls at them, leaving Them to think Willow has been turned. Bizarro-Willow recruits vampires. At the library the gang sit in silence grieving over Willow when she walks in. They find out that she is normal and are confused. Angel with Oz at the Bronze looking for Buffy when Bizarro-Willow walks in with her gang. Angel goes to break the news to Buffy then spots the other Willow there. Bizarro-Willow recognizes Oz as a White-hat rebel from her reality. Anya realizes what happened and makes a deal with her. The gang decide to stop the Bizarro-Willow. Willow goes to get the tranquilizer gun as she doesn't want to kill the Bizzarro-Willow but is confronted by Bizarro-Willow. Willow shoots the tranquilizer and the gang lock up the Bizarro-Willow. They come up with a plan to stop the vampires. Willow dresses up as the skanky Bizarro-Willow and goes in the Bronze. She starts sending out the vampires to check the area who are staked outside. Meanwhile Bizarro-Willow tricks Cordelia into letting her out. Cordelia is saved by Wesley. Anya and the vampires see through Willow after awhile and they fight. Willow is pinned by Bizarro-Willow. Buffy is about to stake Bizarro-Willow but Willow stops her. Feeling empathy towards her Willow creates a fold to send Bizarro-Willow back who then gets staked immediately. Next day, Percy comes up with typed out assignments and an apple before running off in fear. | |

| The Slayers find a demon who wants to sell the Books Of Ascension wanted by the Mayor. Faith goes to report this to the Mayor while Buffy tells the gang. They find that the Ascension occurred once and the whole town was massacred in hours. Faith kills the demon and takes the books. She gets blood on her hands and is shaken. She goes to Angel for comfort. They embrace just as Buffy appears. Later Faith is disappointed that she couldn't give one moment of happiness and the Mayor decides to do it another way. The Slayers arrive at the demon's place and he is dead. The Mayor summons a shrouded man for a special task. Buffy thinks that Angel may fall for Faith. Faith comes on to Angel and pours a potion on him. The shrouded man appears and does a spell. Angel has lost his soul and thanks Faith with a kiss. She convinces him to see the Mayor. He tells the two to kill Buffy. The two meet Xander who gets knocked out immediately. Buffy meets the two together and is unsure. They go to Angel's mansion where Buffy is knocked out and chained. The gang discover the Mayor is over 100yrs old taking on the identity of his son. Xander tells them that Angel is bad. Faith tells Buffy the reason she turned bad was that she was always second best to Buffy. She never had friends, a watcher or family. She reveals that the Ascension is on Graduation day unknowingly. Angel immediately drops his evil charade and Buffy drops out of her chains. Faith is furious that she has been tricked into thinking Angel was bad again. They thank her for giving them information and she runs off. Giles thanks the shrouded man for being in their charade and that his debt is paid. Giles apparently introduced the shrouded man to his wife. Buffy is unsure that Angel was only acting when he was with Faith and decides to cool their relationship. | |

| During patrol Buffy fights two mouthless demons. Killing one of them she gets demon blood on her hand which is absorbed into her skin. Next day her hand itches and learns from Giles that she had been infected and will adopt an aspect of the demon. Next day she begins to hear people's thoughts even though they don't speak. She deduces that this must be her demon aspect and why the demons have no mouths- they're telepathic. She tries out her new found powers during class to impress the teacher and learns that the boys at school are very disturbed. Visiting Angel she tries to read his thoughts about Faith. She find that it doesn't work on vampires and Angel tells her that he was never attracted to Faith. In the library Buffy hears the gangs thoughts but they all eventually leave her embarrassed and scared. In the cafeteria Buffy is overwhelmed by the increasing thoughts and just before fainting she hears a clear one: Tomorrow I'll kill you all! When she wakes she tells the others about the thought and asks Giles if she'll be okay but hears in his thoughts that she'll become insane by the thoughts. The gang search out interrogating people but they fail to find Freddy Iverson a mellow and pessimistic writer. Meanwhile, Giles tells Angel that they need the second demons heart to cure her while Buffy hears her mother's thought that she had sex with Giles twice on a car when they were hooked on the drugged candy. After Buffy drinks the cure she no longer hears thoughts. Buffy and the gang finally trap Freddy who turns out to be innocent but find a message in the school newspaper of the same threat. Searching out Buffy runs up to the school's tower to find Jonathon with a gun. After a long talk about people's problems Jonathon hands her the gun. Then she finds out that he wasn't going to massacre the school just suicide. Meanwhile Xander is sidetracked by Jell-O and finds the lunch lady pouring rat poison in the food. She chases him with a chopping knife before she is knocked out by Buffy. | |

| Faith gets a dagger as a present for delivering a box vital to the Ascension to the Mayor. Buffy decides to leave Sunnydale. Xander will go on a road trip and Willow is still choosing between Harvard and other universities. Buffy decides to take the fight to the Mayor and finds out that the box is the Box Of Gavrok. He needs to consume the energy within before the Ascension. Buffy and Angel enter through the skylight to steal the box while Willow uses a spell to break the protection spell over the box. Buffy and Angel are caught by vampires and escape with the box. The Mayor is angry that the box is gone but then Faith comes in with Willow. In the library Buffy suggest they make a trade to get Willow back but Wesley argues that many lives are at stake on that box, they must destroy it. The gang decide to trade. Willow escapes and finds the books of Ascension. Reading she doesn't notice Faith behind her. The two fight until the Mayor steps in. They hold the trade in the school cafeteria. The Mayor tells Angel that his relationship with Buffy is doomed when interrupted by Snyder and some police. Thinking it's drugs they open the box. A spider pops out and kills the policeman and then attacks the Mayor. The Mayor heals instantly. Buffy closes the box. Faith kills another with her dagger. They exchange, Faith leaves her dagger behind and Snyder walks out scared. Later Willow reveals that she copied notes from the books of Ascension. Buffy realizes she'll never leave Sunnydale and Willow decides that she'll stay in Sunnydale too because helping people is what she wants to do. | |

| The Prom is coming up. Anya asks Xander to be her date. Joyce tells Angel that his relationship with Buffy is doomed and he knows it. She knows he will do the right thing. Meanwhile a guy shows a tape to his caged beast who goes crazy when it plays. Angel dreams of his and Buffy at their wedding when she burst into flames. He breaks up with Buffy who doesn't take it well when he tells her that he'll leave Sunnydale after the Mayor. Xander sees Cordelia in a clothing shop and discovers she's working there because her family is broke. Suddenly a beast crashes through and mauls a guy in a tuxedo. The gang watch it on security tape and notice the beast only attacked the guy in a suit and a guy outside with a device. His name is Tucker and they deduce that he will set the beast, a hellhound, on the school on Prom night. Buffy is determined that everyone have a great night and goes to the butcher where Tucker would buy the brains to feed it. She sees Angel and brushes him off still upset. Cordelia finds that Xander helped buy the dress she was working for at the shop. Buffy finds Tucker but he's unleashed 3 hounds already. She kills them as they head for the Prom. Happy she gets dressed up and goes. She is surprised when she receives an award for Class Protector and realizes how much the Sunnydale really knows about demons and vampires. Angel shows up for one last dance. | |

| Faith is ordered to kill a professor. Xander finds that Anya has been to an Ascension and brings her to the gang. She tells them that 800 yrs ago in a village, a sorcerer achieved Ascension and became the pure demon Lohesh. The village was decimated in just a few hours. All demons on this earth are hybrids and he became a pure demon which is different. Just then the Mayor comes in to taunt them. He is stabbed but heals instantly. Anya then skips town in fear, Joyce is convinced by Buffy to skip town too and Willow and Oz finally make love. Buffy finds some papers in the prof's house to why the professor may have been killed. Angel helps. Suddenly he is with an arrow by Faith. Giles figures that the Prof. had information on a skeleton found in a volcano. They guess it is a pure demon and he was killed so when the Mayor achieves Ascension he will no longer be invincible. The arrow is poison to vampires. The Watcher's Council refuse to help so Buffy quits. Willow discovers the cure for the poison is the blood of a Slayer so Buffy goes after Faith. She grabs Faith's dagger which Faith left behind. The Mayor eats the Gavrok spiders for the ritual. Buffy surprises Faith and they fight. After a struggle Buffy stabs her. Faith then escapes by falling into a passing truck. Buffy is too late and watches as it drives off. Angel is delirious and dying. The Mayor is upset when he sees that Faith is gone. Wesley is being deported since he is no longer needed. Buffy decides to give Angel her blood. He refuses and she punches him. He bites her and drinks her blood. She becomes unconscious and Angel realizes what he has done. In the hospital Buffy is recovering while Faith lies in the next room in a coma as the Mayor grieves. He tries to suffocate Buffy but is stopped by Angel. Buffy dreams of being in Faith's apartment and Faith tells her that the Mayor still has human weaknesses. Buffy wakes and prepares the gang for war. The Mayor orders his vampires to kill but not to feed as he needs the food after his Ascension. The gang set out their plan. They talk to all the students to help with the battle. Angel tells Buffy that he is not going to say goodbye when he leaves, he'll just go. The students are in their gowns in the graduation ceremony. The Mayor gives his speech and a eclipse happens. He tries to continue but begins to feel the changes. The vampires appear and the Mayor transforms into a huge snake-like creature. The students take off their gowns to reveal the weaponry they have loaded. The Mayor eats Snyder and attacks the students. They fend him off with flame shooters while the other students fight the vampires. Buffy comes up with Faith's dagger and taunts the Mayor about Faith. He chase her through the school into the library. She jumps through a window leaving him surrounded by the planned explosives and dynamite. The library explodes destroying the school as well. Later the school is surrounded by ambulances. Buffy sees Angel and then he turns around and walks off. Later the gang look back at the school and reflect on their years. They say they can't believe they survived the Ascension when Oz corrects them he wasn't talking about surviving the Ascension, he was talking about high school. | |
