Not Exactly Medium Rare Goanna

During my visit I found several things that I really couldn't classify as anything but unique.  So here I've accumulated some of the differences that I found to make Australia..well Australia.  Let's start with Vegemite.  As they are raised on this *spread* for bread I understood their appreciation for it.  But for some reason I found it a bit too salty for my taste.  But I did try it.  On the other hand at Mackers, Mc Donalds, they served a Mc Oz which I loved. It was similar to a quarter pounder and then they put beet root on it, sliced beets if you're American.  I had tried beet root at Brian's on a veggie sandwhich and liked it.  This idea in eating was something I knew I could take with me to enjoy at home.

I went to Australia to see a guitar and it was so big...

It seemed to me that Australians like things to be big and noticable as a land mark.  For example we went by the Big Banana, we met some  of Brian's friends at the Big Pineapple then we went to the Big Prawn to have a bite to eat.  So when Brian had told me that we would be going by the Big Guitar at Tamworth I was thinking... alright... but why?  Seems that Tamworth is like our Nashville as far as country music is concerned for Australians.  Keeping that in mind  I had my eyes peeled for a sign to indicate the location of the guitar.  I had no idea the guitar would be this huge!  When they said just keep going ... you'll see it, they weren't joking.  I think had it been a sunny day the reflection of light from this golden guitar would have been blinding to the passing driver and definately noticable.  Definately of the big things... this was the biggest!

okay... so who's going to string it and play it... any volunteers?

Odd... but did you know...

While the kangaroo is native to Australia it remains to have the only population of kangaroo in the outback and mountains of Australia.  That they travel in groups called mobs and can travel up to 40mph. That large red males are called Boomers and females are called Blue Flyers.

While the camel is not native to Australia there are more wild free range camel in the outback of Australia then anywhere else in the world?  Currently there are 200,000 plus camel roaming the bush.

That in my opinion there are entirely too many lizards in Australia?

A comical song to choke your chicken by...

This radio station has got to be the funniest I ever heard.  When I heard the wanker song for the first time I sat in the car wanting to laugh so hard... but needing to listen to all the phrases instead.  I was amazed not only at the extreme humour in this song but also the fact that it was broadcast on the radio during primetime listening without disclaimers.   It wasn't long and it was played  again this time I was laughing shocked and amused.  The radio was very much clear of censorship problems it appeared to me.  The public could listen to whatever made them laugh and have a good chuckle .
