Dad and Dave
This nostalgic radio program used the theme of Jack O'Hagan's "On the Road to Gundagai"
Which makes sense of the location of the statue...also on the road to Gundagai.

Dave and Mabel

Mum and Dad

Dad and Dave, written by Maurice Francis and Lorna Bingham, was basically modelled after Steele Rudd's On our Selection.  It was one of the most popular Radio Serials and started in 1937 and lasting all the way to 1953.  Clifton, Queensland is where Steele Rudd was at when he wrote many of his stories of the Dad and Dave series.  The humourous stories are representive of life in his eyes.George Edwards played Dad, Dave was played by John Saul.  Mabel was performed by Nell Stirling.  Edwards was very versatile and like today actors he played multiple characters, Ted Ramsey, Bill Smith, and Uncle Clarence.
