We went down to the first little beach (Clark's Cove?) where you used to be able to go and buy cod fish fresh off the boats from the fishermen.  I told Aaron little memories and picked his brain to see what he could remember.
He remembers (in fact, he brought it up and remembers it more than I do) the time Melody, he and I were down at Clown's Cove beach and got chased by some boys on bicycles.  Melody was afraid of them and made us run away.  I was about 11 or 12, and irate (or so Aaron remembers).  I asked why we should run from dumb boys on bikes.  I said I wouldn't do it.  Melody kept running and just yelled at me to follow.  So I guess I did.  We ran into someone's house that Melody knew.  Someone we were related to, I think, and we took shelter there.  I think we called for a ride home.  Aaron, who was no more than 6 or 7 years old, remembered that the boys' bikes had "Spokey Dokies" on them - those little colored plastic things we used to snap onto the spokes of our bikes as kids.  He says he's reminded of that day any time he hears a bike with Spokey Dokies on them.  Some memory that kid has!  Now that I think back on it, I remember him being really scared - and I can feel myself irritated by the fear, mine and theirs.  I probably should have stood my ground and given the boys a fight.  Somehow Melody had us convinced they would actually kill us.
