| Tuesday December 30, 2003 -- 10:50am It's sunny today - by that I mean it isn't raining - and if my brother ever gets out of the bed, I'll take him sight-seeing. Maybe even get in the car and drive over to Harbour Grace or wherever it is to let him get a few pictures of The Kyle - the old, miserable vessel that ran aground there decades ago. We got a new dryer delivered yesterday and now Dad is playing Hide and Seek with blown fuses. The dryer is working at the moment, but no lights in the upstairs bathroom. He and Gran'fadder are off to Uncle Ned's store now to buy new fuses. Last night we had dinner at The Jewers'. They are Carolyn's family, and my parents know them fairly well because Carolyn's sister and brother-in-law stayed with them for a while. Jimmy goes to Yale in New Haven, so my parents helped them out when they first moved to Connecticut. He and Jennifer both seem really friendly and fun. I told them they should come up to Albany some time. I'll have to get their email addresses from Mom when she gets back and invite them up. Dinner was delicious. I transgressed and had a small half of a fish cake and a miniscule bite of moose sausage. It was pretty yummy, but I knew better than to eat any more than that. All the food was very good - especially the rum parfait for dessert! Mr. and Mrs. Jewer were nice and fun, and everyone had a good time. Paul got hit with what I've dubbed The Sudden Flu. He was a trooper, but it did show on him. Uncle Bruce got the same thing Saturday night during the party. I mostly entertained myself by playing with Bella, Paul and Carolyn's dog, and with Maggie, Jennifer's cat. Maggie looks exactly like Pepper used to. I made everyone come look, and everyone was amazed. Aaron's up now, so hopefully we'll go out. My body is screaming for movement. A good walk in that salt air will be just the thing. |
