Campaign Journal:
Schemes of the Dead Wizard
Darwin's Realm Campaign

This journal is beginning well into the current tale of this campaign which has been running on-and-off since the third quarter of 2000. The entries below cover a story arc game mastered by David K. that was intended to fill-out the time the characters were voyaging to an adventurous region known as the Rift where Dave P. would take up the GM reigns once again. Unfortunately, the story arc, as well as a majority of the player characters, came to a bad end when the schemes of the dead wizard Zalderath were beginning to be unearthed...

Rumors of Exploration (or, Researching the Rift) -- November 28, 2003
"Our intrepid adventurers had just returned from a dangerous expedition into the drow controlled mountains east of Trazarra when Hollicar brought the party a rumor of possible exploration and profit..."

Passage Paid in Blood, the Voyage Begins -- December 29, 2003
"The party recruited Decor, a new member for the voyage, while eating a late dinner at a local tavern. Some plans were discussed in the tavern but it was decided that the privacy of John and Lenard's near-by house would be better suited for such conversations..."

Friendly Fire, Unfriendly Guards, and Port Haven -- January 1, 2004
"John was cutting loose the two boats that the party had used to board the Pawn when he saw the lone surviving pirate climb into one of the boats, Lenard's arrow still sticking out of his back..."

Loose the Dogs of War! -- January 2, 2004
"Once Decor made it back to the ship and gave his report of what had happened, the rest of the team quickly strapped on their armor and went ashore..."

Ssssh! We're hunting ogres. -- January 9, 2004
"The party contacts Christina of the Huntress after deciding that their best chance of helping Kelson regain his sight is to negotiate with the temple of Kertigen, god of Merchants and Prosperity..."

Ogres and Skeletons and Traps. Oh My! -- January 16, 2004
"When we last saw our adventurers they had just started exploring the ogre lair. A quick search was conducted that yielded three items of note..."

Into the Inner Sanctum -- January 23, 2004
"Our intrepid adventurers gradually woke up the next morning after a night of deep, exhausted sleep. Most of the morning was spent gathering their equipment that had been ransacked and scattered by the ogres while they killed the horses..."

The Best Laid Plans of Elves and Dwarves -- January 30, 2004
"Setting out first thing in the morning the party was able to follow the coast back to town and arrive in mid afternoon. As they approached along the cliff of the coast they easily saw bad news in the town's harbor..."

The Knights of Zalderath -- February 06, 2004
"The group began to interrogate the captive pirate after it was decided that he would just slow them down in their journey to meet the Wind's Pawn..."

Boats are a Bad Thing -- February 13, 2004
"As related by Jonathon in reference to an incident in the Smytheport harbor concerning the ship The Vengeance: During my journey north along the seacoast I'd made the acquaintance of several other individuals traveling in the same direction...."

Hill Giants! -- March 5, 2004
"As related by Raco Milgo to the temple scribe: His Eminence requested that I visit the temple as soon as possible. I arrived in Trazara two days later and immediately reported to the high priest. During my audience with him, he requested I undertake a minor task concerning a raiding party of hill giants that had ransacked several small communities south of Trazara..."
