Introduction to the
Darwin's Realm Campaign
Campaigns set in Darwin's Realm are based upon the hard life that adventurers lead in a
harsh, dirty, uncaring world. Adventurers are more likely to find themselves broke, starving,
cold, and up to their knees in blood long before anyone else even thinks about hailing them
as "heroes" despite their accomplishments.
Flashy displays of wealth will earn you a quick death in a dark alley. Showing mercy to a
vanquished foe will likely earn you a blade dragged across your throat while you sleep. The
world is a violent place where only the strong survive boys and girls. If you have dreams of
heralds listing your heroic deeds before gracious kings you had best go back to having your
mother read you fairie tales.
With that being said, if you find that you are indeed one of the strong survivors then great
wealth could very well find its way into your hands. If you are bold of action and quick of
wit you may live long enough to earn the sort of reputation that can keep you alive in the
dark alleys and back rooms where shadowy business is conducted. If you can recognize
opportunities and take advantage of them both in and out of battle there is a chance you
can become someone of great skill and experience.
So, what do you say? When push comes to shove do you have what it takes to survive being
shoved? Can you step off of your front porch with little more than a dagger, a few coins, and
the cloths on your back and live long enough to be able to call yourself an adventurer? Only
you can answer that question, m'friend. But, before you do step off of that porch you have to
ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky today? Well, do you?
The game system used in this campaign is a hybrid of 1st and 2nd edition Advanced Dungeons
& Dragons with moderate-to-high use of house rules depending upon who is Game Mastering a
particular session. The campaign world is home grown by Dave P., primary GM and setting guru.
The setting has been active for several decades and has been home to many seperate campaign
stories and groups of players.
