Barnes&Noble started as an E-commerce site selling books, in the same area as Amazon.com. Soon, both companies started selling other stuffs than books. Free and fee-based courses are available - The current categories available are: Liberal Arts, IT, Graphic & Art, Writing & Languages, Life Improvement, Business & Office Productivity.
You must register as a member first to get the free/fee-based courses. If you already are a member, then you can login and start registering the course(s) that you want. You can also cancel the course(s) that you had registered.
This E-commerce site offers distant learning - that is, you set the pace of your course, learn and do the homework yourself, altough you can post messages to your instructor and tutor as well as other students. All the courses require textbooks (which can be bought from the site) but if you still can catch up if you make full use of the lectures and messageboard. There are a lot of messages from other students in each chapter - you must sacrifice some
time, $ (if you are paying the net connection) and energy as not all messages are useful to you. Some may even be redundant. Since the course is displayed to students using JavaScript/ pop-up window, you can only view the lectures online.
