Whinnery (Mrs. Anderson) Gregory White (Coach Herrold) Justin Jon Ross (Joe) Jeffrey Steven Smith (Adam) Patrese Borem (Young Woman) The Sunnydale students are on a field trip to the zoo. A group of kids insult Buffy as they pass by her. Xander and Willow appear and remind Buffy that the zoo may be boring but at least they are out of class. The four kids that insulted Buffy go to the closed Hyena house. Xander follows them and saves a student that the kids are teasing. Xander and the four mean kids become mesmerised by the hyenas as their eyes glow green. Later, while at the Bronze, Xander is acting strangely and he tells Buffy that he knows she took a bath. Kyle, the leader of the mean kids, and the others come into the Bronze. They share a look with Xander. At school the next day Buffy catches the new school mascot, Herbert the pig as he is running down the hall. She and principal Flutie chat. In gym class the students separate and play dodge ball. Xander tags Willow out and soon Buffy is the only one left on her team. Instead of trying to tag her, Xander and the other hyena-kids turn on one of their teammates and tag him. Later Willow confronts Xander about his strange behaviour and he insults her and leaves laughing with the other hyena-kids. Buffy who saw the scene comforts the distraught Willow and decides to go to see Giles. Meanwhile Xander the other possessed kids search for food. Giles tells Buffy that Xander is just being a regular 16-year old boy. When Willow comes in and tells them the school mascot has been eaten, Giles starts to do research. Buffy goes to search for Xander. Principal Flutie finds Kyle and the others, minus Xander, and takes them to his office. As he is lecturing them they start to move in on him and make weird noises. They force him into his chair where they attack him. At the same time Buffy and Xander are fighting as he pins her down and tries to sexually attack her. She knocks him out and drags him to the library where he is locked in the book cage. Giles comes in and informs them that principal Flutie has been killed and eaten. Buffy and Giles decide that they need to talk to the zookeeper. Willow says that she will stay behind with Xander. The zookeeper tells them that the hyenas imported by the zoo, are a rare breed and that a tribe of Masai used to worship them. He claims that Xander and the other kids need to be bought back to the zoo to be cured. Buffy and Giles rush back to the school, after learning from the zookeeper that the other possesed kids will track Xander down. Willow talks to Xander who tries to convince her that he is back to normal, but Willow isn't fooled! The other hyena-kids come for Xander, but Willow, Buffy and Giles manage to escape. Buffy decides she will lead the hyena-kids to the zoo. Giles and Willow go to prepare the spell to reverse the possesion. Once at the zoo, Giles discovers the zookeeper knew all along about the possession and wanted it for himself. He knocks Giles out and when Willow comes in he somehow convinces her that he needs to tie her up and hold a knife to her throat. Buffy runs in yelling that the hyena-kids are right behind her. Willow warns her it�s a trap. The hyena-kids come in and the zookeeper performs a short ritual which returns the kids back to normal. Xander manages to save Willow, and Buffy knocks the zookeeper into the hyena cage, where he is attacked. The next day at school Xander claims he doesn�t remember what happened. Buffy and Willow assure him that everything�s okay. After they leave, Giles comments to Xander that there is no memory loss involved in animal possession, but that he will keep Xander�s secret! |
