| 5. Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (Thanks to Lea for the Episode Guide ) Original Air Date: March 31, 1997 Written by: Rob Des Hotel & Dean Batali Directed by: David Semel Guest Cast: Christopher Wiehl (Owen) Geoff Meed (Andrew Borba) Paul-Felix Montez (Mysterious guy) Robert Mont (Van driver) .In a graveyard, Buffy fights and kills a vampire while Giles observes her then criticizes her technique. He finds a ring the vampire was wearing and decides to research what the ring means. The master is shown talking about the vampire that Buffy dusted and about the �anointed one�. He warns the other vampires not to let Buffy stop them. At the library Buffy finds a symbol inside the ring and then finds the same symbol in a book. Owen, a good looking student, enters the library looking for a copy of Emily Dickinson. Buffy and Owen talk and its easy to see she has a crush on him. Later at lunch Buffy and Owen agree to meet at the Bronze after Cordelia, who also fancies Owen, tries to get Owen to meet her there. After finding a prophecy about the Order of Aurelius, Giles tells Buffy that tonight is the night the �anointed one� is to rise from the ashes of five and be taken to the master. Buffy wants to meet Owen at the Bronze but waits with Giles at a cemetery. When no vamps show Buffy hurries to the Bronze only to see Owen and Cordelia dancing together, she leaves, dejected. The next day Owen asks her why she didn�t show at the Bronze. She gives him an excuse and he suggests they try again tonight. While Buffy is waiting for Owen to pick her up, Giles appears and tells her that five people died last night in a bus crash and these are the five that the prophecy is talking about. She brushes Giles off, telling him she wants to go on a date. He decides to check out the funeral home alone and she tells him to beep her if he needs her. At the funeral home Giles is trapped by vampires and barricades himself in a room. Willow and Xander appear at one of the windows after deciding to follow him. He tells them to find Buffy. Buffy and Owen dance at the Bronze after brushing Cordelia off. Angel appears to warn Buffy about the anointed one and is surprised (and also a little jealous) to find out that she�s on a date. Willow and Xander show up and start acting like they�re also on a date and tell Buffy, pointedly, that she should check out the funeral home! They leave Owen at the club but he follows them to the funeral home. When he, Xander and Willow lock themselves in a room. While Xander and Willow are busily barricading the door, Owen sees a supposedly dead man rise from his slab and break through the observation window. Buffy fights the new vampire who has knocked Owen out. Thinking that Owen is dead, Buffy gets angrier and kills the vampire by shoving him in the cremation chamber. The next day at school Owen tells Buffy he wants to go out again and that he loves the danger that happened last night. Buffy, sadly,turns him down. Giles sees Buffy turn Owen down and they talk about sacrifice and duty. In his cave the master is seen talking to someone. The vampire that Buffy killed at the funeral home was a decoy and a little boy is actually the �anointed one�. |
