The Celestine Prophecy is a movie based on the best selling book by James Redfield. It is a story that describes an individual�s discovery of the nine insights. These insights, should they be understood by all people, had the power to cause an evolutionary leap in the human race, ushering in a new golden age. Heaven would return to Earth as it was in the time of Eden. I must admit the entire story entranced me. I watched the movie three times.
The Celestine Prophecy has all the popular elements of new age philosophy. It hinted at reincarnation and the idea of denying the ego. I don�t believe in any of these concepts. When you�re dead, you�re dead. You only get one shot at this world. There�s little proof otherwise. I also don�t believe in extinguishing the ego. Everything in nature has its purpose. If one has a hard time reconciling your self with the supersoul, then maybe one needs a new supersoul! Move to a new community, find new friends. If you keep finding hell wherever you go, then it might be time to overhaul the ego. This doesn�t mean the ego changes. It just means something came along and poisoned the system. There�s fear, anger, or resentment, perhaps hiding the true ego self. In heaven, the ego and the godself live in harmony. There�s no need to trade one for the other.
I do believe in the movie�s concept of auras. My mom taught me how to see auras when I was ten. It turns out; it�s easier to teach kids to see them than adults. Adults are way too inhibited. I started teaching kids out on the Oregon coast in 2001. I�ve never really known what they are. Are they just a play of illusion between the mind and eye? Are they a type of vitalistic energy, as yet, unknown to science? I do know they change color with the character of the subject. I also know there is a lot of disinformation about them. Most of the pictures of them on the internet are fake. Even the movie doesn�t depict them accurately. But it�s damn close. This makes me wonder how many people really see them and how many only claim to see them.
The idea that philosophy can afford people the chance to achieve a higher state of being is not something to be dismissed lightly.
