| During my four years of high
school imprisonment, I was president of the Photography Club and Video
Club. There I learned to process black and white film, use an
enlarger, and was educated on f/stops, depth of field, and
composition. My mentor was a very grumpy black woman named Ms.
Cooper. Although she was strict and had no sense of humor, I
respected her opinions and efforts to make me a better
photographer. My first camera was a Canon
AE-1.
Only recently did I give it away as a friend gave me a practically
unused Canon AE-1
Program. I would like to upgrade to an auto focus SLR, but
since digital cameras are producing images nearly as good as film, I
may wait a little longer. Since I don't have thousands to spend,
I am considering the 2.3 mega pixel Olympus
C-2500L. I have seen it as low as $699. I also like the Canon
Pro90 at 2.6 mega pixels and around $1000. Regardless of which
camera I choose, it is important that I can use most of my
accessories, such as my Cokin
filters. I just bought another Bogen
tripod off e-bay as I had one stolen a few years ago while photographing a
wedding. I tried a cheaper Vivitar
video tripod but it had a terribly rough head movement. The legs were
fairly sturdy so I removed the head and made a tripod table for my Meade
ETX telescope. Mostly I enjoy photographing plants and
animals. I find people difficult subjects unless they are
unaware of my presence. For a brief moment I wanted to be a
model photographer, traveling the world and taking pictures of
beautiful women. It still sounds like a fun idea, but I don't
think my wife would think so. Soon (when I get a scanner) I will
post some of my favorite photographs that I have taken... Also,

NEW INFO: I want a different camera now. The Olympus
C-700UZ expected in May 2001 for about $600 street! It has
shutter priority, aperature priority, and is a fast ISO800
rated!
NEW NEW INFO: Ok, forget the Olympus, I just found and ad in this months
PCPhoto
for an Epson
Stylus Photo 780 ($200 plus Epson offers a $50 rebate) printer that can print 2880x720 dpi to an amazing
11"x14" paper size edge to edge! Therefore I need
more pixels to maintain picture quality at this larger
dimension. So, now I want a 3 megapixel camera. Now
I want the FujiFilm FinePix 6900z.
It is a 3.3 mega pixel camera but has not been released yet in the
US. Expected price is $699 according to dpreview.com.
