I have been interested in computers since the
5th grade when, after many many months of mowing lawns in the hot
Florida sun, I was able to purchase my very own Commodore
VIC20. Shortly thereafter I just had to upgrade to the
Commodore 64. The funny thing was that the 5.25" floppy
drive was around $400, more then twice the price of the Commodore
64. I think my wholesale price today on 3.5" floppy is
about $13. In middle school I took all the computer courses
that were offered. I remember copying disks for the Apple IIe
and IIc using the highly illegal and much sought after Disk Muncher
1.0 and playing games like Karatica and Spy Hunter until the early
morning hours. I participated in and won a number of computer
programming competitions and went to computer camp and all that
nerdy stuff. Then in high school, I sorta got bored with my
C64 with its limited programming capabilities (do you remember PEEKS
and POKES?) and so I would play with the Apple II's after school in
the computer lab.
Fast forward to today, and after working for few companies and
always ending up in the IT department, I think its time I do a
little computer work for myself in the form of this web
page. People often ask me what my favorite computer
is. I don't have one, I recommend you build your own. That
way you get what you really want and don't have it pre-loaded with 10
Gigabytes of useless crap. I do however have some favorite
computer web sites, and here they are:
