Syndicate programs attempt to infiltrate the Alpha Centauri computer systems. Their attempts fail, leading to questions within the Syndicate as to who is resisting the efforts. It is revealed that the Covenant of the Dawn has developed the Prometheus intelligience unit. It is unknown if this is one program, or a group of secret individuals. The Covenant of the Dawn, originally from the Syndicate, uses Prometheus to effectively halt further extensive hacking by Cyborg. However, various local and/or unattended hacks still occur. Maverick also cyber-combats Cyborg and Prometheus.
Realizing their peace will end once the warmongering in the Solar System reaches them, the colonists of Alpha Centauri finish refinements on their terraforming droids and develop a defensive army. The MAX series of power armor is first introduced. In addition, the colonies finish refinements on the deadliest mecha design ever concieved, Type Zero.
