Japan forms the White Ferret Commandoes as an elite group to perform intergalactic special operations. None the wiser, the Syndicate's top superior agent Aaron Derspielnicht is placed as point for the group. He quickly elects fellow Syndicate members as the remainder of the group. With complete access to both Syndicate and Japanese technology and funding, the White Ferret Commandoes perform astonishingly well in the objectives. As a result, the small yet significant Venus colony remains relatively unharmed thru WWIII. Cyborg is used often by this group.
The Pheonix Honorguard, named after the legendary bird to rise out of its ashes, is formed from the surviving biomechanical super soldiers developed by the United States in WWIII. Totaling two hundred fifty three thousand, the military oriented faction begins construction of massive space fleets to begin deep space campaigns. In addition, a new AI hacking program is developed to assist the Pheonix Honorguard and fight against Cyborg. It is called Maverick.
The White Ferret Commandoes assassinate various members of Japan's staff on Venus. Not knowing the cause of deaths, Japan feels obligated to at last abandon the Venus colony. With this act, the White Ferret Commandoes are released from duty with Japan. The Syndicate moves its base of operations to the colony and uses the White Ferret Commandoes as a cover for its operations. Later that year, the asteroid field is divided amongst the various factions of the Solar System in a brief skirmish known as the Metaphor Incident.
The Catacomb Asteroid becomes the center of operations for all Covenant of the Dawn activities. In addition, phase drive colony ships reach Alpha Centauri. The colonists, seeking to escape the chains of war and hostility, rebel from their respective factions and create a nameless society of peace-seeking colonists.
