Back to the Basics

by Nelson Leonor

As I again enter our campus (it's been so long since the summer vacation), I saw 'thousand-million students'. It made me excited realizing that it's once again campus time and I'll meet new people and the brothers and sisters.

Two things come into my mind. First, that there are lots of exciting events ahead of us. Second, a lot of time together with the brothers and sister (sounds fun?). What do I have to say now? Hmmm.Aha! You know brothers and sisters, I would like to share what the Lord has been telling us to do this school year. BACK TO THE BASICS- can you please repeat it? - BACK TO THE BASICS - yes, that's it. 'BACK TO THE BASICS'. We're all back in school and God is telling us to go Back to the Basics (ang kulit ko 'no?). What does it mean? God is calling is to look on our relationship with Him. God is asking us to deepen it by looking on how we are doing with our prayer and scripture life. Have we been faithful to our prayer times? (even during summer vacation). Or your spiritual life has also taken vacation? If it is, it's now time for you to get started once again (if you haven't done it yet at this point). Let's make our relationship with the Lord more deeper by faithfully seeking Him on our prayer times. In this way, we can know, the Lord more and all things will fall in its proper place. Those who know God will experience Him in a very significant way by having thoughts about Him. Those who know God have great energy in serving Him. Those who know God show great boldness in speaking about Him to other young people (those thousand-million students need to hear about God from you). Those who know God have great contentment in God as they experience His unending love and great faithfulness to them.

Let's start having those prayer times fixed on our daily schedules. Listen to God by reading the Bible, meditating on what does it say and apply. Let's open our hearts and minds to God. Let's thirst for His presence in our daily lives and be deeply rooted in Him and let us all say:

Lord, it belong not to my care
whether I die or live;
To love and serve you is my pray'r,
And this grace I must give.
