Bob put on the shutters

You can bet if there is any hint of cooperation with the weather on a weekend, Bob will be outside working on our yard somewhere. He mowed the lawn for the first time in 2004 today. Today is 4-4-2004 and we have the front shutters on the house.

The shutters on the porch are the ones we had to "special order" because we thought the others were too thin. These cost us less than the other shutters and were much better made than the ones our brick contractor got. It is too bad that he thought he could get away with us not noticing the little things he did to make his pocket just a little fuller.

Actually, the brick contractor was contractually obligated to install these shutters, but once he got his last payment, he never showed up again. We called him twice, too! He had made such a big deal about wanting to install those shutters himself, and we left the front two windows for him, but he just ran with the money as far as I am concerned. Bob did an excellent job (as usual) putting them up. Bob also finished putting the column rings together. Bob is just the best as far as I am concerned. He is so much better than some of the contractors I have seen (both in skill and ethics!).

I guess we can't really fault the brick guy though. When we first signed up with him, he made a big speech about how a customer should "NEVER" pay the last payment until all the work is done. He warned us that there were some contractors out there who would take the money and not finish the job. I guess he was speaking from experience!
