Use a washable(!) marker to create a fake injury on your scout's finger.  Have him clean it and bandage it himself.

Woodworking -

A local woodworker in Mechanicsburg, provides wood shop equipment at his home for Webelos scout projects.  He will also work with the wolf and bear scouts.  Den Leaders should provide extra adults, cordless drills and safety goggles.  Please contact the Cubmaster to obtain the woodworkers telephone number.

The Cumberland County Solid Waste Authority can provide lots of information on recycling and proper disposal of hazardous household items.  They also have activity booklets with a recycling focus.  They include crossword puzzles and word searches.  They can be contacted at 240-6489.

State Museum -

There is not specific cub scout program.  Tours are available on Tuesday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, 12:00 PM (noon) to 5:00 PM.  Call 787-4979 or visit their website for more information.

Mechanicsburg Museum Association -

Tour the Mechanicsburg Museum Association library and museum.  Call 732-3821 or visit their website for more details.  The association (697-6088) also offers an historical tour of Mechanicsburg (a different tour than the tour made by fourth graders).

The Messiah College campus has some beautiful hiking trails. A good starting point is to cross the covered bridge and pick up the trail next to the Yellow Breeches. Cross the swinging bridge and turn right. The trail has several exercise stops along the way.

Popcorn Hat Players -

This is a children's theatre for children ages 4 to 10 and can be seen at 605 Strawberry Square in Harrisburg.  Morning shows are held Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  They will also hold Scout workshops.  Bring at least 10 scouts to a scheduled show and have a private one hour workshop after the performance.  (If you don't have 10 scouts, consider coordinating with another den.)  The price is $10 per scout.  Call 238-4111 or visit their website for more information.

Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg -

The Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg usually offers children's plays in June.  The theatre is located along South York St. Extension in Mechanicsburg.  Call the ticket office at 766-0535 or reference their website at www.ltmonline.net for more information.

York Little Theatre -

The York Little Theatre is located at 27 S. Belmont St., York.  Reference their website at www.ylt.org for more information.

Spare Time Fun (Elective 5g-h-i)

The free Make and Take Modeling Program is designed to introduce young people to the art and hobby of model building.  Each child is given a small plastic model that they can build with the help of an instructor.  The model is theirs to keep.  The program is open to boys five to fourteen.  For more information call 774-4803.

Home Depot -

The Kids Workshop is held on Sunday afternoons and usually at the end of the month.  Call 795-9602 for more information.

Country Market, Kid's Club -

Attend a Kid's Club held on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM for children ages 5 to 12.  Call 766-7993 ext. 250 for information.

Birds (Elective 13a, b, c, d, e, f)

The Olewine Nature Center at Wildwood Lake Sanctuary offers a birds program specifically tailored for Wolf scouts. You must make arrangements well in advance. The cost is about $9 per scout (each scouts makes and takes home a birdhouse) or $2 per scout (without the birdhouse).   Call 221-0292 for more information.

The Olewine Nature Center at Wildwood Lake Sanctuary also offers a fishing program specifically tailored for Wolf scouts. The cost is about $4 per scout.  Call 221-0292 well in advance to make arrangements or for more information.
