Welcome! "Crafty Cathy" is my business nickname, just in case you were wondering. =) As you can see, I love building websites and doing crafts. I set up this website so that I could combine the two. ;) At your left are some links that go to photo albums with a specific craft I enjoy doing. I enjoy doing any craft, actually. Rughooking, sewing, woodburning, woodworking, pumpkin painting, embroidery, boxmaking, etc.
Time is one of my largest issues. I would love to do all sorts of crafts, but I'm just too busy with the other ones. LOL.
You might be wondering why I chose sunflowers as the theme of this site. Well, it's a simple answer: I thought they were pretty. Hehe. :)

I apologize for not updating this site. I will try soon, though. Lots of things have kept me from updating, so please understand. Thank you. 08.19.06 My goodness! How I neglected this site! Not purposely, though. I have been extremely busy with farm work! With that said, I should forewarn you that I can't be able to update this site until probably mid to late autumn. Oh well. See you then! 07.16.06I apologize for not updating sooner. The farm has been keeping me busy, so I haven't had the time to take pics of any of the stuff I've made. I'm also very busy trying to set up my jewelry display for the craft room. Phew! It certainly takes a lot of effort just trying to make things look nice. Well, I just wanted to tell y'all that I'm still gonna continue to update this site with new photos and all, but that must come a little later - when I'm not so busy. TTFN! 06.26.06I completed an island shell necklace. A neighbor of ours was very kind in giving me lots of various, beautiful shells. So then I just had to make something out of them! I have lots of other design ideas, which reminds me that I need to write them all down! You can take a peek at it by clicking here. I am also finished oil painting three wooden rounds! Congratulate me. I still have to varnish them, but that must come later. They say oil paints need a long time in order to cure and if you apply varnish before it cures, it might cause cracking. Now that would be disastrous! 06.10.06Well, here I am again. I still haven't completed those oil painted wooden rounds that I was talking about earlier. I'm on the last one, though. I don't have the right colors, so I have been substituting. They're not going to be as detailed as I hoped, but I guess that's fine. Practice makes perfect! And I need practice. I'm also working on making a jewelry display for the stand. I have been cutting the wood using some power tools, which I'm not very familiar with. My siblings have been helping out, though. :D Maybe I should take a picture of it when it's completed. That would be interesting. ;)
I have been practicing with oil painting on some little wooden rounds that my brother cut for me. The rounds have been drying for over a year, so I don't have to worry about it spilting on me! Anyway, I'm borrowing a book from the library about decorative oil painting that Sherry C. Nelson wrote. She's an excellent painter! Actually, she wrote several books, mostly about flowers and birds. She is a bird watcher, and she always wants to be as accurate as possible when painting her birds! Down to the last feather. :o) When I'm done practicing, I'll take some photos to show you!
My goodness! It's May already! What a lovely day to start off the month - rainy and gloomy. Oh well. I added my oil painting pictures finally. I have been working on a lot of jewelry lately. I made a couple variations of the illusion necklace (I added more strands), and I have been making several stretch bracelets. I have recently purchased memory wire in the bracelet size, so I have been experimenting with that also. It's extremely difficult to cut, so I use my father's heavy-duty wire cutters. I try to avoid cutting it unnecessarily as much as possible. ;)
I'm adding the new link to Crafty Cathy's Painted Pumpkin album to all my pages. I have been busy at work making some new friendship bracelets. :) They are such a time consuming craft, so I thought I would make a large quantity now than use up all my time in the summer. I'm also thinking about making a special page in my jewelry album for them. I have many different color combinations that I thought it would be good to keep a visual record of the ones I have already made. That would require a new album. :)
Well, here I am again. I wanted to take my mind off of everything so I decided to just have fun and work on this site some more. I finished the Crafty Cathy's Painted Pumpkin page finally. When I said "take my mind off of everything", I meant to take it off of the sickness [a cold] going through my family. One person caught a cold, then I caught it, then the list goes on. Thankfully, I feel a whole lot better today. I hope my everyone else does better tomorrow. Please keep us in your prayers.
I just added some more photos to my bead work and rock painting albums. I extended the albums to two pages each! I thought it would be easier for all the photos to load in then.
Today is the big day. I'm uploading all my photos and stuff onto my website. I'll be adding my pumpkin painting album later. I need to crop all my images and write up a little something about each one. Take care! |
