The first day of spring, full of energy and promise. This Goddess is feeling and exploring her beauty and strength. Named after the Saxon Goddess Ostara, She is the morning and evening star Venus, She Who descends to the Underworld to relcaim Her Lover, the Goddess of desire, the Warrior Maiden, the Moon, the Heavenly Virgin.
Pronounced 'o-STAR-ah' this holiday is sacred to the Moon Goddess in Her animal form, the hare, from which the Easter Bunny derives. The balance of light and darkness is here, the male and female energies in nature are now equal. In ancient times, red coloured eggs symbolised both resurection and fertility. Energy should be returned to the Earth at this time, plant herbs, flowers and trees, blessing each one in turn. This is the Spring Equinox.
Observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox (Easter) when the pregnant Goddess enters the season of fertility is when this holiday is celebrated, usually around March 20-23, or September 20-23 in the Southern Hemisphere.

Colours associated with Ostara are ligh purple, green and silver.
