Incense is used to represent the element of air, to help cleanse, and bring the power and energy of the incense to your magickal workings.
Incense is made by selecting and blending herbs, spices, gums, resins and oils, which when burned, release an aroma that raises the vibration of the desired wish or notion.
In ancient times incense was burned to evoke gods and to purify the atmosphere. Today incense can be used to purify homes, offices and clothing, protect homes and businesses and to help cure illness. Incense can be a very powerful tool to any magickal workings.
Incense has been smoldered on witches altars for thousands of years. It is burned during magick to promote ritual consciousness, the state of mind necessary to rouse and direct personal energy. When burned prior to magickal workings, fragrant smoke also purifies the altar and the surrounding area of negative, disturbing vibrations.

Listed below are a number of incense scents and their meanings.

ALMOND
Almond can attract money and wealth.

APPLE
Apple is good for attracting love and long lasting relationships.

BAYBERRY
Bayberry burned during Yule is said to bring wealth and luck in the coming year.

CARNATION
Carnation brings luck in gambling, but is traditionally used in healing.

CEDAR
Cedar promotes good health.

FRANKINCENSE
Frankincense can bring success, it is used to consecrate objects and places, it can remove unwanted or negative influences. Frankincense is also very good for protection.

HONEYSUCKLE
Honeysuckle is used to promote good health, prosperity and clear psychic powers.

JASMINE
Jasmine brings luck in love and money matters. Burn it at bedtime for prophetic dreams.

LAVENDER
Lavender can attract love and relationships, it is also very good for bringing peace into the home.

LEMON
Lemon promotes power and can bring luck in all areas.

MYRRH
Myrrh can be used for protection, healing, spirituality and purification. Myrrh promotes power and is helpful with love invocations.

NARCISSUS
Narcissus brings harmony to the home and can bring luck with gambling.

PATCHOULI
Patchouli arouses secret passions.

PINE
Pine is used for strength and vitality, to reverse and return energy and to keep illness away from the home. Pine summons the Voodoo gods.

SANDALWOOD
It is an all purpose incense and is especially good for healing and purification. Sandalwood can be substituted for any other incense.

VANILLA
Vanilla stimulates the appetite, restores energy and can improve the memory.

VIOLET
Violet can increase loves passions.
