Colour plays a very important role in making magick, and generally speaking, witches have a wide range of coloured candles which they use for different spells. However, the meaning of colours is not restricted to just candles, specific coloured inks and pieces of paper are also used in some spells. Even pictures of a certain colour placed in a particular area of the house can make a difference to a person's health, or even just their mood if used appropriately.
Listed below are a number of colours and their meanings.
RED is used for things such as:
courage, passion, health, physical energy, strength, vitality, creativity, protection and sexual love.
LIGHT RED is used in the following way:
deep affection of a non-sexual nature.
ORANGE is used for the following things:
positive thinking, energy, encouragement, general attraction, adaptability, endurance, stimulation, assertivness, and to seal a spell.
The colour GOLD is used for:
generosity, sun magick, prosperity and wealth.
YELLOW is used for things such as:
communication, travel, confidence, charm, movement, happiness, self-esteem, intellect, attraction, creative imagination, eloquence, healing, success, persuasion and divination.
WHITE is useful for the following things:
purity and peace.
The colour SILVER is used for:
channeling, dreams, clairvoyance, neutrality, intuition, astral energies, and cancellations.
GREENISH-YELLOW can be used for:
illness, anger, cowardice, discord and jealousy.
LIGHT GREEN is used to:
help improve the weather.
The colour GREEN is used for:
abundance, employment, healing, finance, prosperity, money, luck, harmony, growth, fertility, agriculture, nurturing love and regeneration.
DARK GREEN is used for the following:
financial gains when used in conjunction with gold and silver.
LIGHT BLUE is useful for:
patience, friendship, happiness, healing, inner peace, understanding, psychicism, peace, protection of homes and buildings and tranquility.
The colour BLUE is used for:
healing, inspiration, truth, protection and higher wisdom.
DARK BLUE can be used for the following things:
depression, confusion, changeablity and impulsivness.
NAVY BLUE is useful for:
broken bones, wounded pride and angelic protection.
BLACK can be used for:
change, confusion, release, protection, renewal, banishing negativity, divination, chaos and for returning things to the sender.
GREY is useful for:
pondering complex issues during meditation, being a neutral colour, also neutralises negative influences.
The colour BROWN is good for:
security, hesitation, animals, the home, uncertantity, comfort, neutrality, centering, earth magick.
INDIGO is useful for:
righteousness, restful sleep and deep relaxation.
The colour DARK PURPLE is used for:
runes, sigils, the government and calling upon the power of the Ancient Ones.
PURPLE is useful for:
spirituality, healing, inner power, ambition, meditation, power, tension, progress for businesses and religon.
The colour PINK is used for:
friendship, love, relaxation, compassion, romance, honor, morality and binding magick.
