| With/Without Ball: The with/without ball helps you take your tactics to another level. It takes a while to get used to using this part of the tactics, so it is really only for experienced players. The main use for this feature is to position players better then they are in the default settings, it can also help you go from defending to attacking in no time, it really does help you take tactics to another level. There are two options with this, with the ball and without the ball. The with the ball screen lets you edit where your players are positioned when you have the ball, and the without the ball screen means where your players are positioned when you are without the ball and are defending. You just edit where your players are from your six yard box, to when your player has it on the wing. The most important thing to consider is when re-positioning your players is not to position them to far from there original default position as too much running around will tire them very quickly. Remember that if you position a midfielfer righ up the top end of the pitch when your attacking, and then tell him to get back down the othere end of the pitch and defend as soon your team loses the ball, he will probably be unable to cope with this and will get tired. WITH BALL: This is where you position your players when you have the ball and are the attacking team with the ball. I will start with the attackers. If you play with wide men try and position them right out on the wing as far as they will go, as then if they have cross ball instruction on they can cross it to the strikers, who are in a central position, it gets you more chances that way. In the middle of the park where the central midfielders are you should push one up right next to the 2 strikers and make it a 3 man attack when attacking, and with the other midfielder( presuming you are playing 2 in the middle) should be set back a bit to cover any counter attacks the opposition make. The central defenders should be pushed up a bit but not too far as if the opposition have pacey strikers, they will destroy you, so be cautious with the defenders, depends on how cautious you want to be though;). Once you think you have done it, look through it again and make sure your players are not too far from there default position as if they are, more often then not they wont be able to make up the ground, unless he has excellent stamina and excellent work rate. The only player you will be able to get away with positioning a long way away from his position on the field, will be the AMC. This is because the majority of the time they are star player and play a free role which enables them to rome around the pitch as they wish. WITHOUT BALL: Probably the most important of the two, if worked carefully on can be used to fantastic success. At the back, when the opposition has the ball in your last third, position all your players behind the ball except one, leave one striker up field. In central positions, have all your midfielders wrapped around in a circle then the opposition don't have many places to go, but if it does get past your midfielders, obviously your defenders can cover, or a DMC can. Although it will be a pretty packed area, it can be very efficient, especially in the lower divisions when most the players cant play anyway and a good scrappy game is what they like:). Position the defenders quite far back and normally stick a DMC in front of them so the opposition don't have any space to play in and always have one of your players around the ball, closing down. And with the players close by, you can break quickly if you get the ball, another thing with my personal tactic, it changes defense into attack in no time and is very efficient. In the wide areas when defending, get your full backs and wingers behind the ball, quite far behind, as the opposition normally wont be able to take on two players and more often then not your tackle them and your winger can again break, it really is efficient. So, get your men right behind the ball, but also stick them close together to pack and press the opposition and also you can break very quickly, if your lone striker has good pace you'll probably score a lot of goals by using this method. |
