Dawson's Creek
A show with a lot of intelligence and not just another teenage drama. The storylines are interesting, characters are endearing, and the dialogue is witty—the actors and actresses don't look bad either.

First season, Dawson likes Jen then he realizes he loves Joey, the girl next door who's loved him since the beginning of time. Second season Dawson and Joey together then they break up because she's in love with Jack who turns out to be gay. Third season, Dawson and Joey remain friends but then she falls in love with Pacey, Dawson's best friend, and goes away with him for the summer to go sailing down the coast. Fourth season, Joey and Pacey are still together, Pacey's sister Gretchen returns to Capeside as a break from college, Dawson becomes friends with Pacey and Joey again, Dawson and Gretchen fall in love, Joey loses her virginity to Pacey, Joey and Pacey break up, Dawson and Gretchen break up, they graduate from high school, Dawson and Joey kiss before he leaves for college summer class. Fifth season, Dawson decides that he doesn't want to go to USC and returns to Massachusetts disappointing Mitch (his dad) who dies in a tragic car accident, everyone is in Boston attending college except Pacey who becomes a chef, Audrey (Joey's roommate) begins seeing Pacey, Dawson alienates Joey after his father's death, Dawson wins an award for his latest film then decides to go to film school in Boston, Dawson dates Jen and loses his virginity to her, Dawson and Jen break up amicably, Dawson leaves for California again to be a Production Assistant.

The sixth and final season began with Dawson returning to Boston to prepare for a shoot. He and Joey end up sleeping together on her birthday. Dawson doesn't tell her he had a girlfriend in California but Joey eventually finds out and stops talking to Dawson. Meanwhile, Pacey and Audrey break up after she overhears Pacey say that he doesn't love her. Joey starts seeing Eddie (a co-worker and fake classmate) who she helps get into writing school in California. They break up knowing that a long-distance relationship won't work. Dawson and Joey become friends again after a Christmas party at his house in Capeside. Dawson goes back to California to finish a movie which ends up getting bad reviews. Dawson tries to sell his "coming of age" movie. Joey and Pacey together again until Eddie returns.

How does it end. I was hoping that Joey breaks up with Eddie and ends up with her soulmate Dawson. But the last episode fast forwards five years into the future and shows that Pacey and Joey end up together. Not what I hoped so the first season and the first half of the second season are my favorites. The first season leads to the Dawson and Joey kiss while the second season begins with Dawson and Joey going out.

Smallville
The show delves into what Clark Kent (aka Superman) was like when he was a teenager in Smallville. It suggests that Clark and Lex Luthor (Superman's enemy) were good friends in Smallville. The show is based on Clark learning to use his superpowers while dealing with villain—most become evil as a result of exposure to Kryptonite. Series also include his father (played by John Schneider formerly of Dukes of Hazard), his mother, Lana Lang, Pete Ross, Chloe Sullivan and Lionel Luthor.

I think that Tom Welling is a hottie. But that's not the main reason why I watch it. It's an interesting take on Superman. My favorite episode is the one with Christopher Reeve (original Superman) who translates a message for Clark. I loved Christopher Reeve in the the Superman movies. I think he is really Superman for trying to rehabilitate himself from being a parapalegic. Anyways in that episode Clark learns who he is and translates a message that's in his spaceship. Most people don't know this but in the inner most circle of that message when translated (using translation letters from the comic book) says "Made in Taiwan" which was added by graphic artists as a joke.

Since my last update...I still love Tom Welling . Clark returns after having "left" to go with his Krypton father (Jor-El) and save his human father (Jonathan Kent). In 2004, Lois Lane comes to Smallville and Pete leaves Smallville. We learn that Lois Lane is Chloe's cousin and Lana's a witch. Lana starts dating Jason Teague whom she meets in Paris. Didn't watch several episodes because I didn't like the Lana's a witch storyline. But at least it shows Jensen Ackles as Jason Teague. He's so hot. Didn't realize he played PJ, Jennifer's boyfriend, in Dawson's Creek. Also it turns out that Jensen Ackles was runner-up to play Clark Kent. But I digress. Chloe knows Clark's secret. Jason ends up being evil and gets killed. Lana and Clark fall in love. Then; Clark, Lana, and Chloe graduate from high school. What else is in store for this season?

Gilmore Girls
A mother-daughter relationship show about a single-parent mother who raises her daughter by herself eversince she gave birth at sixteen while she re-kindles her relationship with her parents. I envy the way the mother and daughter are so close eventhough they are very different. Makes me think what I would have done if I had a daughter at sixteen. Rory, the daughter, reminds me of myself as a teenager...studious, wearing uniforms, boyfriends.

What has happened the last two seasons? Lorelai and Christopher rekindle their love, but he ends up leaving Lorelai because his ex-girlfriend is pregnant is with his child. Lorelai begins seeing Luke, but Christopher comes back and still loves Lorelai. In the meantime, Jess breaks up with Rory after flunking out of school. Rory goes to Yale instead of Harvard. She sleeps with Dean breaking up his marriage then ends up dating Logan from Yale who calls her Ace. She quits Yale after Logan's father tells her she doesn't have what it takes to be a good journalist and has a big fight with her mother and ends up living with her grandparents. Rory breaks up with Logan after he disses Jess (who was there for one episode) and his book. Can't wait to see what else happens this season.

One Tree Hill
I think this show is better than the O.C. At first, I didn't like it because the premise didn't seem different. The show is based on two half-brothers (Lucas and Nathan Scott) who have the same father and hate each other end up playing on same highschool basketball team. Lucas and Nathan end up liking each other because they have a common hatred for their father. Lucas' best friend, Hayley ends up marrying Nathan. Lucas likes Peyton but ends up dating Brooke, Peyton's best friend. Hayley runs off with a musician, Chris, to fulfill her music career but changes her mind and returns to Nathan. Hayley's older sister comes to town and crashes in with Hayley and Nathan. Lucas almost admits to Brooke that he has feelings for her but she's dating someone else. Other interesting character Jake, Lucas' friend, who has a daughter.

Joan of Arcadia
A family drama with bits of humor. Joan is a teenager who sees and converses with God who appears to her as different people. It's mostly about her relationship with her family, but I just love her relationship with her boyfriend, Adam. I'm kinda bummed because CBS decided to cancel it even after it had received lots of critic choices.

Supernatural
My new favorite show. It's about two brothers who are looking for their father. Twenty years earlier their mother dies in a strange way. Jensen Ackles is great. He can be funny and he can be serious. They're supernatural crime fighters. Interesting premise. Lots of unique stories.

Nip/Tuck
A show about two plastic surgeons in Florida. Their families. Their patients. At first I wasn't crazy about the show because I thought it was about people who want cosmetic surgery because of superficial reasons. But most of the surgeries are due to medical or psychological reasons. I love the show.

Friends
If you haven't heard it, where have you been? Hilarious comedy of 6 friends who live in New York. This season, Rachel gives birth to Emma, Ross' baby. For awhile they live together for the sake of the baby, but have a fight so she's living with Joey.

24
A show with a different format—the entire season is about events that happen within a 24-hour period involving Jack Bauer, a CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit) agent. Unfortunately I missed the first season but read the archived episodes on the Fox 24 site. In it's second season, the story revolves around a nuclear bomb. After several episodes of looking for the bomb to avoid having it detonate, CTU was unsuccessful in disarming it so detonated it in the desert. Now it seems that 3 Middle Eastern countries conspired to get the bomb to the US. Jack Bauer is trying to prove that it's a lie while the President is preparing to start a war with these countries. Ironically, on the 4/1/03 episode it is alluded that these countries were framed so that a certain US corporation will profit from the oil that will be available once the governments of these countries are overthrown. How eerie is that? The storyline was probably written last year and filmed months ago yet it's ironic that it's being televised at the same time the war is going on in Iraq.

I haven't watched the last couple of seasons...so many other good shows to watch. I missed how former president David Palmer was assassinated supposedly by Jack Bauer who ends up pretending to have died. I've just started watching it again but missed the first episode...argghh.

The Bachelorette
I've watched a couple of the Bachelor episodes, but wasn't into it as much as I was the Bachelorette. I just want to say that I liked Ryan Sutter from the start when he walked out of the limo (he looks like a cross between Tom Welling of Smallville and James Van Derbeek of Dawson's Creek) and even more when he read her that first poem. Yes, I was one of those women who was hoping she'd choose Charlie. Boy, didn't the people in the editing room do a good job in making it look like she was going to choose Charlie?? But for you who don't know, Ryan was actually a football player in college and the World League. He was also in the NFL but was injured. He has a degree in architecture. He was also a model. His paintings can be found at various places in Colorado Springs. He also has an EMT certification which led him to becoming a fireman. Click here to link to a page with more info on Ryan.

Other shows I like - CSI, Law & Order:SVU, Desperate Housewives, Real World/Road Rules, Laguna Beach.

Shows I liked but are no longer running - Third Watch, For Love or Money (love Erin Brodie, former SF 49er quarterback John Brodie's daughter, and gorgeous Chad Viggiano who's from Danville).

On the Big Screen

My Best Friend's Wedding
Julianne and Michael have been best friends since college. Then he tells her he's going to get married and Julianne gets jealous. She has 3 days to break them up. Sports and Romance...my favorite combination.

Notting Hill
Can you tell I'm a big Julia Roberts fan? In this film, she's paired with Hugh Grant, who plays an Englishman that falls in love with Julia's character, Anna, an American starlett. A number things threaten their relationship. The soundtrack is perfect...it's filled with a number of classics.

Sleepless in Seattle
Meg Ryan falls in love with someone she's never met after listening to the radio on Christmas Eve—a boy talking about his father, a recent widower. She becomes determined to meet him even though she's currently engaged to be married. An absolute classic. A great soundtrack too.

X-MEN, X-MEN2
A great adaptation of the comic book of the same name. Professor X runs a school of mutants, humans who have special powers. They fight Magneto who wants Mutants to rule the world who are treated as outcasts by normal humans. X-MEN ends with Jean dying (just like the comic books. Can't wait for X-MEN3.

Star Wars
Written and directed by George Lucas, the series involves the Skywalker Family. In Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Anakin and Amidala fall in love and get married. Revenge of the Sith show how Anakin/Darth Vader becomes evil and what happens between him & Amidala. Hayden Christensen is HOT!!

Lord of The Rings
Haven't had much time to watch movies the past couple of years. I didn't even get a chance to watch Fellowship of the Ring so Lisa brought in her DVD to the office. It was so good I had to watch Two Towers in the theaters. That was so good I couldn't wait to see what happened so I read the book. Ended up reading it in about a month. So I had to wait months to watch the movie. I ended up watching it by myself but I didn't care. It was great! Although there were some critical parts from the book that was missing.

The Notebook
I also got a chance to watch The Notebook. I just had to watch it because I read the book a couple of years ago. I vaguely remembered what happened, but I knew that James Garner was telling a story about himself. I just couldn't remember what happens at the end which was why I wanted to watch it. Plus, I was in a romantic movie mood.

Band of Brothers
This is a must see. I didn't get to watch it when it first played on HBO, but I'd heard all the critics' reviews and had to watch it. My brother ended up buying it so I watched it. It was so good I had to buy the whole set for myself. It's based on the true story of 101st Airborne's Easy Company in World War II. It's great way to learn the history of WWII in Europe, but it's also got a lot of cute guys.

You've Got Mail
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are just great together. I love that part in the movie when he goes to her store with his aunt and brother. Then is brother spells out their last name which is also the name of their company—F-O-X. I like the part when he realizes that she's the one he's been exchanging emails with then he starts hanging out with her after she closes her bookstore and they become friends but she has no idea that he's the guy she's been emailing. But I absolutely love the ending when they finally meet and she realizes who he is.

Bridget Jones' Diary
I guess I like the movie because I can relate to it—a 30+ year old woman who has a hard time finding the right man. I especially relate to the part where Renee Zellweger is singing "All By Myself". I absolutely love Hugh Grant and it's refreshing to see him play the bad boy. I've also watched the sequel (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason) but it's not as good as the first.

On the Airwaves

I listen to all types of music ranging from romantic to dance to alternative including songs from Air Supply, Celine Dion, Natalie Merchant, 10,000 Maniacs, Dream, Dishwalla, Fuel, Lit, Puddle of Mudd, Lenny Kravitz, Creed, Alanis Morrissette, Blues Traveler, Lisa Loeb, Chicago, Cake, The Calling, Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse, Fastball, Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Imbruglia, Harry Connick Jr., Dido, Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams, Ricky Martin, Blondie, Jason Mraz, and Andrea Bocelli.

Michael Buble
My new favorite singer. He's been dubbed the new Frank Sinatra. His voice is so silky smooth. I heard of him several months ago and thought of "listening" to his music (being the jazz band groupie that I am—because of James and Scott) but never had the time. But I was channel surfing one night, I caught his Great Performances show on PBS. It was so great I had to watch the second showing that same night. I have since bought "Caught in the Act" CD & DVD as well as Totally Buble which had clips of his performances in Totally Blonde which I have to get. He's totally hot but he's engaged.

Maroon 5
I just love "This Love". It's my ringtone on my cellphone. I also like "She Will be Loved" and "Sunday Morning" on their Songs About Jane CD.

Keane
Got hooked on "Somewhere Only We Know" which was in a Victoria's Secret ad.

Soundtracks

I love soundtracks. They are filled a mix of different types of music. My favorites include Notting Hill, Sleepless in Seattle, My Best Friend's Wedding, Dawson's Creek and The Commitments.

On Stage

Miss Saigon
The story of a young Vietnamese woman and an American soldier who meet during the Vietnam war. A tragic love story set to beautiful lyrics and music. I was fortunate to catch a show in Toronto.

Les Miserables
The literary classic, about an ex-convict who rises from poverty during the French Revolution, set to music. Powerful solos and harmonies. It was so great I had to watch it a second time when the company came to San Francisco in 2000.
