| In December 2003 I visited South America for the first time. Not only was this the first time that I have travelled to the southern hemisphere, but the first time that I have ever crossed the Equator. The purpose of my visit was to visit Maud, my Brasilian friend, a friendship which started when she was a student on one of my Guitar for Beginners courses at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. As a result of this visit, I was invited to speak to a group of Brasilian teachers who teach English as a foreign language, about my work as a writer, and as to how I set about writing books for children. I was delighted to accept the invitation. Details of that afternoon can be found on this website about Brasil and will also appear on my main website at http://clairerosemaryjane.co.uk in due course. But we also travelled fairly extensively through Southern Brasil, and these webpages will show some of the highlights of those journeys. |
