The GT 750

The automobile to the right is a Saab. But it's not just any Saab. It's a GT 750 - perhaps one of the rarest Saabs today. The GT 750 was Saab's response to the American public's demand for a sports car. The car was introduced at the 1958 International Auto Show at the New York Colliseum, boasting a 750cc 2-cycle, 3-cylinder engine tuned to develop 50 hp. An optional tuning kit allowed for an additional 5-7 hp if desired, and bestowed the designation GT 750 Super. This was truly a competition car for public consumption, and came equipped with double head lamps and tail lamps, as well as a Halda Speedpilot as standard equiptment! Aside from the badging and lighting, the only other readily identifiable external trim changes were the double chrome strips running along the sides.
